i wish i had info to help but i'm just as clueless as you! i need to spray my zucca med dylan but i'm chicken ..... i have kiwi super protector and kiwi suede & nubuck protector ... anyone have experience w/either of these? i hate having to use spray while preggo but i want to take it out soon!

It's very rainy here (we are still learning the weather) and I've just been hiding the zip wallet in my coat when I don't have my purse. I'm going to order some cleaner and kiwi protector and give 'em a try on a spot inside the bag first. I'll let you know how they work if no one chimes in before then.

APax - Searching this thread, it appears that members have used both of these Kiwi products...there didn't seem to be any complaints. Just do a search for "KIWI". Please be careful!

My new zucca dylan zip wallet, it has what looks like price sticker residue on the back. Now, I am absolutely unfamiliar with caring for leather bags. What should I use to try and clean it? I read about using the UV protector. Can anyone walk me through what I need to use to get this baby in tip top shape and in what order? The more specific the directions the better :shame:

mrsKoach - Unfortunately, I can't help with the leather cleaning questions. You might want to try PM'ing Stormy Heart (if she doesn't chime in) and attach the link to the eBay auction so that she can see what you are dealing with. I wouldn't use leather cleaner on this wallet unless she gives the ok.

No luck with the PM. It pops up and says she can't receive them :shrugs:
I'll just hold out then until she chimes in. I don't want to treat it until I can clean it. The sticker mark on the back is bugging me a bit.
Thanks!

Ink will permeate leather fibers deeply so the sooner you get it out, the better. If the stain is not fresh, pinch and fingernail scrape then use a soft regular eraser; work gently and you may get most of it out. LP is dyed through so you won't end up lightening the area.
The key to any liquid or damp ink removal process is BLOT don't rub !
You don't want to force a stain deeper into leather. :smile1:

A regular pencil eraser (or tan art gum eraser) works fine on LP and all other washed and naked leathers. The best thing of all is LP's recommended "pinch-scrape-rub" to remove spots. See post #2.

From LP's website:
LEATHER QUALITY & CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Linea Pelle handbags are made of washed italian leathers. Animal skin is inherently prone to imperfections, such as blemishes or bruising and occasional imprefections may occur. This tends to show more with light to medium colors and adds to the casual vintage look of our washed leather handbags. The bags are also treated with a post-construction enzyme wash, which creates a natural weathered color look and fraying on the edges. This adds to the vintage look and appeal of LP's handbag styles.

Here are a couple of tips to care for your new handbag:
If slight scratch marks occur, gently rub the scratch with a clean finger or thumb to help natural oils to the surface.
If a dark spot occurs, gently pinch the area so it is raised & very gently scratch the pigmented spot, using a clean finger or thumb. This will help natural oils to surface and cover pigment spots.
If dirt or staining occurs, we are unable to assume liability for the damages of the original stain or any treatment methods that have been attempted to fix the spot. However, on occasion the following treatments have worked for some customers. For ink or dye based stains, try touching the spot with a piece of tape to remove as much of the stain as possible. We also recommend lightly rubbing the stain with a damp cloth dipped in a mild water-based liquid dishsoap mixture (mixture should be 90% water, only a little dishsoap). We do not recommend hand, clothing or dishwasher or other detergents. Again, Linea Pelle, Inc. is unable to assume liability for dirt or stain damages to the product, nor do we stand by any treatment methods to fix the spot. We recommend customers speak with members of a forum site such as PurseBlog.com for additional treatment methods.

mrsKoach- I have been searching for a way to clean your wallet. Hopefully some of the above tips may help. I am wondering if using a piece of tape on the spot of adhesive might help a little...then scratch with nail or use the eraser. I would use a plain damp cloth before I tried the soap mixture. HTH :shrugs:

cathead- Thank you for searching. While waiting for our self-help store to open, I decided to try rubbing the adhesive off with my finger and a little water. It worked. There are a few little spots (like from where fingernails knicked it trying to get the sticker off) but nothing I'm going to freak about. I'd have never attempted even that if you hadn't posted.

That's good news ! You can try rubbing a little corn starch on it to remove any remaining residue.

Reposting from HH subforum. Issues that I'm having in conditioning a LP Dylan Bag:

I used Leather Honey to condition a LP Medium Dylan Tote in Iron & Cobalt. The cobalt turned out good w/ a bit of shine, but the Iron one came out terribly spotty. I guess the Iron is unfinished leather.

I'm currently working on washing the bag repeatedly with mild soap and water to restore pre-Honey Leather debacle. After that is done, I'm going to recondition with Lubriderm; which worked on a old Tano w/ the same type of leather. I'm still thinking about buying the recommended Leather Magic Conditioner if the Lubriderm doesn't do the trick.

Let me know what ya'll think.
Thanks
Steph
