Trying to remove water stains will make them worse. Use the Wilson's.
Hi,

I recently acquired a new East West in bordeaux.

In my excitement, I used the bag without treating it first (I know!).
I've read through all the posts (thanks, ladies). I couldn't find a clear and direct answer regarding water stains/marks.

I ended up getting caught in the rain twice in one week. The first time, almost half of the bag was nearly soaked. That dried fine, though, thankfully. The second time (another surprise heavy downpour) left a couple of small water marks/stains. How do I remove them? And which treatment brand should I use for future protection? I know Wilson's has the old vs. new formulas. Which is better? Should I try a different brand altogether?

Thank you!!!

Thanks, Stormy Heart! Which Wilson's product specifically should I use (I've read the entire thread, and I'm a bit confused which one to buy--one kind vs. another; old formula vs. new; etc.)?

The spray will remove the water stain and will protect from future ones?

I apologize if my questions seem too elementary. I've never really treated any of my leather goods before, especially any washed leather ones.

Thank you for your expertise and help!

I've found that lighter-coloured Linea Pelle bags stain easily. I have a gorgeous purple LP bag that scuffed more quickly than my sneakers in 6th grade. If I could do it over again, I'd buy a darker bag. The bag is really beautiful though, so I agree with the sentiment of most of this (expansive!!!) thread --- LP bags are gorgeous, but you MUST be mindful of where you take your LP bag! lol

Just bought the Orange Poppy Dylan bag. What do I need to use on it to protect it? Is Wilson's TLC still the way to go? I saw some threads about new formula vs old formula and I doubt I can get the old formula anymore that was mentioned in the old threads. Thanks for any help.

I have had a Linea Pelle Dylan bag in violet with gunmetal for a little under a year. Unfortunately, my bag has faded horribly. Anything I can do? I don't store this in the sun (I live in Seattle!) and am disappointed about how badly it's performed. I have a matching wallet and it still looks perfect. See pics. Thanks!!!

I just bought a LP Hunter Hobo in olive today - my first LP bag. I have owned a lot of Coach, Dooney & LV, but found this one on sale half price at a small town boutique, and couldn't resist. Do I need to pre-treat the leather with a protectant spray?

Your call. I haven't treated my Olives but it depends on your personal use patterns. Olives fade a little, becoming a little brownish if not UV protected. The Rain and Stain protectors are useful if you tend to set your bag down a lot or live in a rainy place. A hobo would typically be worn. Satchels always need at least the bottoms sprayed. You will find that marks on LPs are quite easily rubbed out. My rule is always spray light and bright colors and don't worry much about the rest. It is true that the R&S sprays have to be re-applied periodically to remain effective. Make sure Any product you use on Linea Pelle specifies safe For Use on Suede because regular leather products will ruin your bag.
Congratulations on your first LP and for finding a great deal !
Hunter is gorgeous !

Sorry but looks like this bag has been exposed to lots of UV. All the blue-based pigments, including Violet, are somewhat unstable and suffer fading unless UV protected. The wallet hasn't been exposed much compared to your bag. Try giving your bag a good massage with your hands to bring out some pigments that may have crocked deep within the skin; this may refresh the color a little. Follow with a conditioner specifically formulated for suede and naked (sometimes called Natural) leather. Did this bag get damp and dried out a few times ? If so, this would hasten a patina for sure. Also wearing the bag with coarse textured clothing rubbing against it could show this kind of discoloration. Call LP Customer Service and see what they say but my opinion is this is not unusual nor a flaw. It looks about right for a year's wear. Violet is a color that requires good products right from the start to keep it perfect.

Thanks Stormy Heart. This is the first Linea Pelle bag I've owned and the first handbag ever to fade like this. I didn't know there was such a UV issue with LPs. I live in Seattle, so this is not overly exposed to the sun. I'll check out a conditioner and hope I can revive some of the color. I've contacted LP multiple times and never got a single response from them. :(
