I am sure this has been posted somewhere but I cannot find any info. But I just got my first Dylan zip wallet and the zipper on outside keeps catching on the small zipper pull tab on inside. For now I have tucked the inside pull tab into the pocket but is there a better idea? Will it smooth out if I fight it for a while? I just don't want to ruin anything.

You are doing the best you can. Keep the little tab tucked away so the zip around won't snag. Normal use will smooth the sides so that your wallet will shape up and become easier to zip. The washing process wrinkles the leather a little bit, so it takes regular wear to act right. Don't overstuff or strain the stitches on the zipper tape.

I like the way you said first Dylan zip wallet.

For those of you that have a white/sand (or any light-colored) LP bag, how hard has it been to keep the bag clean? I know that because LP uses natural leather, we can't "condition" our bags like with other designers.

Any feedback on how difficult it is to keep the bags looking good is greatly appreciated!

The whites and Lights are very easy to keep fresh. Spray with Rain and Stain protector right away. Why do you think you cannot condition LPs?
In the care thread I thoroughly explain which are OK or not and why.

Because LPs are dyed through, you will never see a scuff that has damaged a finish, showing grey or tan under the paint, as is common with other (more expensive) brands.
LP whites wear better than any others. I have some 5 yrs old that still look new. I do carry an art gum eraser when I wear the palest LPs because that will fix 99.9% of dry marks. If any dirt smudged my bag, it's history instantly.
I did get caught in the rain with an unprotected LP this week. The raindrops looked dark for a few but dried invisible in moments. Other brand's leathers cannot always be counted on for such a good outcome..

Thanks for the input, Stormy. By "white eraser" do you mean the white "plastic" erasers (http://www.amazon.com/All-Purpose-P...8&qid=1344643036&sr=8-4&keywords=white+eraser) or the papermate white erasers (http://www.amazon.com/Paper-Mate-Pr...8&qid=1344643036&sr=8-1&keywords=white+eraser) or the sanford "vinyl" erasers (http://www.amazon.com/Sanford-Prism...qid=1344643036&sr=8-2&keywords=white+eraser)?

no babes, I said art gum eraser.
Those plastic ones will slick the leather and make a shiny dark spot!

Ohh. The funny looking brown ones? http://www.amazon.com/Prismacolor-D...qid=1344643540&sr=1-1&keywords=art+gum+eraser

For some reason I thought the LP care thread said to get a "magic eraser"? :shrugs:

Yes that's the one.
There is so much confusion about the white ones. I like regular pencil erasers, but it has to be plain white.

Really the art gum works better than anything, I have removed tar from leather with those.

The plastic white magic erasers are good for finished leathers, not washed leather. Rough eraser for rough leather, smooth plastic for shiny smooth finished leather. I hope this makes sense to you.

POST #86 ~~ way back there.
A quick search would have answered your question

Yes, you remembered seeing the plastic one mentioned, but not recommended, OK

Stormy (and others) -- do you have any tips for preventing LP's white leather from turning yellow over time? My understanding is that white leather turns yellow due to exposure to sunlight (UV). But I guess I can't just run sunblock over the bag!

My white LPs are still white after several seasons. Those white leathers that turn are not like LP leathers. But you CAN give your bags UV protection!! LeatherMagic makes an excellent sunscreen product for leather, 60X stronger than your skin lotion. I have tested it myself on colors because blues and purples fade, and the stuff really works.

Thanks, Stormy. Can you elaborate on why LP leathers are different from other white leathers that would turn yellow over time?

Discoloration is more of a problem with finished leathers. It's the painted surface that yellows, sometimes badly. Also, when these painted surfaces wear thin, the natural tan of the leather shows a little, adding to a darkened appearance. More on that below. It's not as simple as 'my white bag turned lemon yellow".

White dyes are not pure titanium, but a blend of little drops of other colors to give you say, an ivory, winter white, or softer, not stark white. These other colors may, over time, seem a bit stronger as the white fades. A greyish cast could appear. If discoloration happens evenly, it's not so bad, but usually whole areas will look different or splotchy.

If leather is not moisturized, the dyes can dry out, turn to a very fine powder, (which you would probably not notice) and poof, disappear. This is called crocking and if a bag is crocking, may color-rub onto your clothing! Anyhow, this also is something we'd call fading, because it is a physical loss of color, and can happen to any color. If it's just a thin white finish layer, it becomes even thinner and natural leather color underneath will start looking like shadows, even where you wouldn't expect wear and tear.
Leather is skin, and will tan in the sun (also contributing to a yellow appearance from under the paint!)

The good news is that LP white is is not just on the surface. It goes completely through the leather. It doesn't discolor the same way those other, surface-finished types do. I am not saying it isn't possible, but none of my own white LPs have changed at all. Titanium is a natural sunblock so LP white is more protected, I figure.

All colors can fade. UV protection is a great idea for all light, bright and white leather goods.
Don't forget to moisturize with LeatherMagic for naked leather!
* If any product doesn't say safe for suede and nubuck, it's not safe for LP washed leather !

Is there anything that I can do about color fading? My purple Dylan zip tote is fading and I have only had it for a year. Is there anything I can put on it to darken it? I love the bag but the fading is bothering me.
