Cambridge Satchels

I love satchels and I love structure, but the Cambridge ones look too stiff and strange to me.

I think satchels in general are very useful though. Even if they were to go out of style, I think they would come back once again in a few years...

I love the satchel look even though it totally doesn't work for me (they drive me crazy opening and shutting), but the structured look of the Cambridge doesn't do a lot for me. I think the Cambridge Satchel look in the brights is trendy, satchels themselves not so much, but hey, if you love it who cares what the trend is!

I like them. I loved the bag Kate Spade came out with, and then I stumbled upon these bags. I only like them in the bright, fun colors though. They look sort of matronly in the neutral colors.

I -just- got my fluorescent yellow 13" satchel last week, after waiting 35ish days for production. It was definitely worth the wait! I've worn it twice so far, and have received a number of compliments from strangers on the street.

Although the neon satchels probably won't be trendy for more than another season or two, I have a soft spot for highlighter yellow/green colors, so I'll always love it :) I'd say that the more traditional black, brown, or even green, should last for years to come.

Love your yellow! Are you putting anything in the ID window?

The Cambridge satchel/batchel style is a classic satchel style. I had the same style, back in my university years in the early to late 70s. That style was/is very common in Europe.

As for it going out of style, I'm not worried about that in the least bit. I have an acquaintance who has the Cambridge, red, backpack, batchel (satchel with a handle). I tried hers on before ordering two of them. I like the fact that the leather is stiff. One usually carries books in a satchel/batchel. I have had batchels of softer leather, but over many years of use, they didn't hole their shape.

I'll be happy when my backpack batchels arrive. I think I ordered them at the end of July. I guess I'd better check my account section on Cambridge's website.

Well, just taking a quick walkthru at Dillards yesterday, I noticed satchel type bags were all over the place.....Brahmin, Coach, Michael Kors.....very evident that this is going to be a trend for a little while, I'll bet. I just think that if there is a flap with faux buckles, it would be a whole lot easier to get into. I just am not a fan of going through about 3 steps to get into my bag.
