A friend of mine has a friend who uses B,B or S all the time!!! She's been "Borrowing" a bag for 6 months now and she likes it so much that she is thinking about "Stealing" it now. "Stealing" is when you decide you want to OWN one of their bags that you've been "borrowing". They look to see how many times THAT bag has been rented, the condition it's in, original retail price, etc...then they sell it to you at a discounted price based on the criteria above (plus whatever else they consider). So, you get a "steal" on a designer handbag. Sounds a LOT cooler than I originally though before I knew much about it!!!!!

There have been a number of threads on this subject. Do a search and you'll find them.

You'll also discover that there are no real "steals", the bags get pretty beat up, and you have to pay A LOT of money to rent anything decent. You're much better off to put the "rental" money towards buying a bag of your own.

I got a gift certificate for them from my husband for Christmas. Hey it was his brothers idea. What I get for not dropping any hints. But I used it, so I didnt get to rent a bag I really wanted because they were out but I rented a Gucci for a month and used up most of the certificate. The bag came in good condition but I was upset that my husband wasted his money on something I couldnt keep. His thought was that I could try out bags and if I liked it then I could go out to the store and buy one. That being said, the intentions were there. Im just not into the concept of waiting and renting bags but I do like trying it out for size. Oh and you have to pay a monthly fee to belong but it is nominal. I stil have a credit with them and they were very friendly and nice.

I haven't tried it out yet, but I've been tempted. You don't have to pay a monthly fee - there are 2 sets of prices - Members and Non-Members. If you pay a monthly fee, then you get a lower rental.

I think it's a good idea if you're thinking about buying a new expensive bag, but want to give it a test-run first. I mean think about it - how many time have you bought a bag and after you used it, you realized it was just too heavy or too big or too small, etc. With BBorS - you can give the bag a try for a week or two, and if you really like it, go out & buy it (or try to "steal" it!!)

i agree. to rent a bag for six months at $235 a month (at least the couture collection) you could well over buy the bag outright for retail.

and as far as test running something- almost all the major dept. stores like saks, bloomies, etc. have great return policies... if you buy a bag, use it for a day or two and realize its too heavy or something is wrong with it- they will happily exchange it for you.

I have used another site called frombagstoriches.com. They have this membership thing where they bring in a bag special for you so you can rent stuff that isn't shown on their site. I have used it for carrying the canvas LV's because I don't like to carry them once the leather starts to darken.

I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread dedicated to BBS/their outlet sale, so I'm starting one. (I also didn't know where to list it, so I hope D&S is appropriate).

BBS is currently having an "outlet sale," that's open to non-members, but I'm wary about purchasing from them, b/c I haven't heard good things about their bag-rental services, including sending damaged bags/fakes/etc.

Has anyone ever dealt with them? Are you aware of the site offering counterfeit bags?

They have some cute Prada totes for sale at a discount, but I can't seem to find these models anywhere else, leading me to believe they're either three seasons ago or not really Prada at all. If I decide to purchase one (like I really need another tote, I've already bought four this week (darn sales!)), I'll be sure to authenticate it first on TPF.

Sorry for the long-winded post, but please share your thoughts on BBS!

I think they sell authentic bags; the concerns I've read seem to be centered around the condition of the bags. It seems like they understate flaws and irregularities for many of their used items.

I talked to them about one bag but all they would tell it is it's in like new condition. It bothered me I couldn't see pictures of the bag's flaws before I purchased them. I can't see how they could loan out these bags without them getting a scratch, stain, etc.

Not sure if anyone has talked about this website, but it is just like Netflix, but instead of movies, you can "rent" a purse, or some jewelry, for a weekly or monthly fee. The higher end purses, like Prada, Gucci, Chanel, and Jimmy Choo go for between $80 to $100 a week. To figure out per month, just do the math. There are lower end purses, like Maxx New York, Betsey Johnson, and Andrea Brueckner go for about $13.00 a week. Now a lot of people are going to think, "why would i RENT a purse?" Well, they call it "borrowing", but anyway, if you always wondered about a purse, and wanted to try one out, see how you like it, that's a good reason. Still, the higher end purses are there, and you can say to someone that you carried a $1000 or $1500 purse before, that you actually had all your stuff inside it, taking it in stores, and other places. They offer insurance, but it's only for wear and tear, not theft, so if you wanna go that route, do so, but I don't think many people are going to be careless with a purse they don't even own.

Just go to http://www.bagborroworsteal.com and check out the selection. They have about 80 different brands, some really nice ones!

I just joined BBS a matter of days ago and chose a three-month option to check it out. Currently, the two bags I wanted to try out before buying are on the wait list, but should be shipping relatively soon.

I decided to do this after several bad ebay pre-owned bag experiences (condition worse than indicated, no returns, have to resell to recoup, etc.). This has great potential for me and the way I need to shop given my lack of proximity to the higher end stores that carry the bags I want.

I'd love to hear if anyone else has tried this service.
