  • Yay, lots of illicit bag flings, with no serious commitment...sign me up!

  • What? I have no idea/ don't care.

Thanks so much, you guys! I was kinda leery of the whole idea and I really appreciate hearing from people who've actually tried this... I definitely don't want to have to pay to "wait" for a good bag, and don't want to have to deal with bad customer service.

I was going to say the same thing about the BBoS Outlet....I've heard some nasty stories of people getting dirty, filthy, pen mark filled bags...

The bags that you rent are the ones that go into the outlet, I believe. So....I guess you kind of get what you pay for.

And sailor, I've never heard of this other website, but now I'm off to check it out. :wlae::wlae:

Not worth it. You're borrowing a used bag. Eg: Buying a new Bbag: $1195, Buying a used bbag: ~$1100, Selling that used Bbag 3 months later: $1000 Cost: 100. Bagborrow a bbag (if it's available): $100x3+$10 shipping = $310 to use for 3 months.

frombagstoriches sounds good i think i might do it next month !

has anyone actually used it ?

and has anyone bought out a bag before ? because i know i cant afford a new one so id rather do it this way

I would say if you're willing to try it on the slightly more expensive nonmember thing so that you can try a designed bag for awhile before purchase, that's one thing.

As an example of why I should have done something like this: I bought a Fendi Spy bag without having carried it; I just went zonkers over the leather.

Once I tried it, I didn't like it and had to sell it because I'd never wear it!

If, however, you're doing the bbs so you won't have to shell out $$ for a bag, then I agree with the pp that it's not worth it.

I hate to buck the trend on this company, but my friend loves it.

She's not a "collector" tho, per se. She gets the initial OMG it's a YSL... Fendi... trendy IT bag... rush and she loves opening the boxes. I swear, like a little kid every time she gets them in.

At the end of the year, she doesn't have an extra fab bag in the closet to show for it. BUT she has walked around with score bag after score bag, and in my little industry, it says a lot. She has a reputation for being fabulous and she lives in the moment.

I'm a collector, so this baffled me. She explained it to me like this: she has no idea what her tastes will be in 5 years (amen to that, she's fickle!) so she sees it like paying for a vacation - it's the memories.

She has a souvenir pic holding each bag, too... it's funny. I have bags buried in my closet and she likes to point that out. She says better we aren't owned by our things but shaped by our experiences.

So, whether it's worth it or not is up to you. She's a great gal, she's impetuous and trendy. She says it is. I'm a bit of a collector, & I don't go out enough to be "seen" so for me it probably isn't.

Right now :graucho:

That is a good way to look at it.

She is so true about us not knowing what we will like in 5 yrs. I know my tastes have changed a bit in the past 5 yrs.

Your friend sounds like fun.

Interesting perspective! The photographs will be something to talk about later too. She'll have fashion history as well as personal history right at her fingertips.
