i am currently stalking a bag on their outlet page. IMO, it's about $200 too much for what it is. 35% off a handbag that's already been carried is not enough of a discount. I will wait and wait and hopefully one day it will be mine!

There's things that I wouldn't mind renting...ya know, like movies...but purses? Especially at those prices? I wonder what their policy is when someone damages a bag. Do they charge you extra? Maybe they don't charge you any extra and that's why renting them is so expensive.

I think it's a great service for those who don't live near major shopping and can't see the bags in person before deciding to buy. It gives you a chance to try the bag on before buying. I do agree that they are pretty expensive, but if you're thinking of buying a $1000 new bag, it would be worth the $50-$60 weekly rental to make sure you like it before buying. If you tried to list it on ebay, you would, in most cases, lose alot more than that. I would never use it as a source of getting bags to use as everyday bags, but more of a 'try before you buy' type thing. Just my opinion.

I think if I wanted to test drive a bag and had disposable income to warrant it, I'd probably not think twice about handbag rental. It seems like a good way to try high end designers.

It is a great choice for cruises or resorts, you can have a real fabulous "it" bag for a fling, but it wouldn't be something you'd want in your permanent collection. Again, how much disposable income I had would be my deciding factor.

I would just rather own my own bag. Please don't take offense, but all I can think about is germs, or what if someone stuffed a snotty tissue in there until they could throw it out properly.....goofy stuff like that, that keeps me from even thinking to borrow a bag.

I was about to post that I thought it was sort of a cool idea - if the purses are in great condition. But after reading your post, maybe... not so much! :wtf:

A handbag is such a personal thing....
I personally couldn't see using a bag that has been used hundreds of times by hundreds of different people.....:yucky:
but that's only my personal take on bag rentals, and if it doesn't bother you, then I guess you will like this service!

HL, this is exactly why I use the service. Fortunately for me, most of the bags I'm 'test driving' are mid range or so ($600 or thereabouts) so the weekly rental charges are anywhere from $13-$45. To me a week's rental is totally sufficient and I never rent by the month.

Another plus is that BBOS's policy is that if you return a bag within two days of receiving it your rental charge will be refunded and I've made use of this policy. I received a bag and knew the second I took it out of the box I didn't like it and resealed it, printed the return label and sent it back the next day. The rental fee was promptly refunded upon receipt by BBOS.

Also, when you rent a bag you receive an instant 25% code for use within 24 hours. So I will typically wait until I have a couple of bags in mind, rent the cheaper of the two and then use the 25% of on the second bag. I also receive bonus points for rentals which convert to $ off rentals when you hit a certain number of points.

All in all, it's worked out really well for me and saved me much hassle as far as my buying bags I think I love ...only to discover I don't and can't return them, requiring me to then sell them on ebay.

I can see how the site is good for people to test drive bags. Luckily I live near great shopping so I wouldn't personally use this service. I like owning bags and I don't want to front what I can't afford.

I have to say that I don't really understand why most people use their rental services - it's SO expensive!! If you just saved up for a few months, you could buy the bag and never have to send it back. For instance, they rent a LV cabas mezzo for $225/month - new the bag is $1050 (or you can get gently used on eBay for around $600) - if you saved what you'd pay in renting it, you could buy it.

But I guess if the money doesn't matter to you, then you could have a new bag every month.

I so completely agree! Just save a few months and voila, the purse of your dreams is yours! :smile1:

for me i think i am the hand bag rental to my friends and family . once less purse is one more to buy. but i think the idea of only using a purse is a little crazy for me. my biggest issue with ever getting rid of a bag it the thought ... well the person love, honer, forsake to death do you part. as i do..
lol

I completely agree with you. I don't get why people rent bags its strange to me. All that money they spent on renting bags they could've bought a nice bag for them to own. But if you don't mind spending that money every month to experience a new handbag then I guess thats the perfect thing for them.
