Authentic but RIDICULOUS. I got curious about the site after some tPF'ers got some good deals on purchasing the outlet bags. To borrow one of the bags I currently own, they want something insane like $700/MONTH. The "cheaper" end for Chanel was around $400/month if I'm not mistaken. I'd much rather save that kind of money and buy my own. Not worth it.
I went over there after seeing this thread and their rental prices are insane. :wtf:

I purchased a bag from their outlet store in January. Overall it was a good experience. I posted about it. I pasted the link below. Good luck.

My DST from Bag Borrow or Steal Outlet (Tons of Pics)

I love your pics of your DST. It does look like it was in great condition. I inquired with them a few days ago and they said I can return it in 30 days if I dont like it and I would have to request the authenticity paperwork. How much did you pay for your DST if you don't mind me asking. :)

Ok Everyone,
I bit the bullet and just purchased the luxe metallic flap in the outlet. I had my eye on it for a while and I was afraid that they were fakes. Thanks to you all, this is going to be my first chanel bag purchase. I have a pair of chanel sunglasses and the bag is going to look good with the sunglasses. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the bag is going to be great. I will post updates. :)

I have to say that I don't really understand why most people use their rental services - it's SO expensive!! If you just saved up for a few months, you could buy the bag and never have to send it back. For instance, they rent a LV cabas mezzo for $225/month - new the bag is $1050 (or you can get gently used on eBay for around $600) - if you saved what you'd pay in renting it, you could buy it.

But I guess if the money doesn't matter to you, then you could have a new bag every month.

I think they are expensive too. However, I do love to look in their outlet section for used bags they are trying to sell (you don't need to be a member to buy). I got a Kooba not too long ago for 71% off, so only paid like $179.00!!

Since I am so fickle I kind of thought that one of these services might be good to "test drive" a handbag before you buy it. You know, you could try the handbag for a week to see how it fits into your lifestyle.

Trust me, money is always a concern. Oddly, I thought a service like this could save me money in the long run. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought a handbag, only to sell it later (usually at a loss) because some design feature on it drove me crazy.

That said, the fees on those handbag rental services do seem quite pricey. I noticed that they vary based on the bag. What do you think is reasonable? I want to be intelligent about my decision.

everyone had different opinions on these particular websites. Some say its the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have heard women talking down about it because at the end, one of the beauties of sporting a really luxe bag is the fact that you can say "it's mine" "i own it" as opposed to renting a bag and trying to look or sport something that is not yours. i think its a good concept for the trendier of the bags. There are alot of bags out there that we know we would use but probably use it once or twice.

It doesn't make sense to me. I can understand renting out a nice evening bag, but there are quite a few (what some will consider) everyday bags on there, and it seems that renting out any one of those would just seem to promote the lable, and not much else. From what I hear, many of you ladies buy your bags because they're special, and to rent one out seems to make it feel less special, don't you think?
But I think PELRDL's point is good. If you're 'trying out' a bag to see how well it would fit, I suppose it does make sense. But yes, the prices are a bit much.

I guess it's a good "concept" to try before you buy (especially on something that could cost you several hundred, if not thousands of dollars) but I think their fees are just too high.
