Hi, authenticators,
I would appreciate help in both authenticating this small bag and knowing its name. I bought it from Goodwill a couple of weeks ago on impulse without checking first here and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s authentic.
Style number: D1K-8319 (China, 2001)
I have seen the name listed as “Legacy Demi Hobo Shoulder Bag,” but also saw a couple of other names.
The Goodwill listing is still available: https://shopgoodwill.com/item/143097876

It measures 10” at the widest X 6.5” long X 1.5” thick/deep.

It’s a real honey of a bag in pretty good condition and I just cleaned it up so it really shines.

Thank you,
Lucy
It's genuine, probably made for the Factory Outlets since all the ones we've seen have an outlet stamp, and all have the same misspelling "COMPIFTFIY" in the creed. We've never found the official name for it but outlet styles back then (it was made in 2001) were not in Coach's catalogs or main computer records. And contrary to what many "authenticity guides" claim, a misspelling does NOT prove that a "Coach" is fake.
The same spelling error was also showing into 2002. I had this bag (I described it as a Girly hobo but not sure if that's the official name) with a 2002 creed and spelling mistake.

Item: Pre-Creed Courier Pouch 8920? (Black or Navy)
Where purchased: Goodwill $20
Dimensions: Approximately 10 x 9 x 4.5 inches

Comments: Please offer an opinion about the authenticity of this vintage Courier bag, thank you.

I know that the Couriers came in 2 sizes but I am having trouble measuring the bag because it is squashed, what were the dimensions of the smaller Courier? Are there any other characteristics to distinguish between the large and small couriers?

Do you know approximately what years the pre-creed Couriers would have been made? Thanks again!

It's authentic. It was made in the early 70s. It is the standard size. The precreed version has a different inside pocket than the creed version.

The smaller one has a different shape.

It's fine. I've seen it before. Gorgeous color!
thank you!!! can I ask you one more question?
Do you know if some hardware has "solid brass usa" engraved? someone on eBay is asking to return something (which I don't mind, its not that much money) that she is saying is inauthentic due to the engraving and also the inside creed looks a little funky. the "coach" looks almost cartoonish. what are your thoughts?

That bag is absolutely authentic and a gorgeous color. Several NYC bags have "solid brass" or "solid brass USA" engraved on the buckles. If you see it on a 90s or later bag, it is probably fake. (In a lot of those fakes, the buckles are stamped but the material isn't even brass.) You are welcome to refer your buyer here for assurance.

Amazing thank you! I accidentally already issued the refund lol but I’ll just resell it - she said the dye is coming off when she tried to clean it so it may have been overdyed. When I receive it back, do you think I should clean the old dye off? I’m wondering if it decreases the value.

Hello! I found this little bag at yard sale for like $3, so I’m certainly not disappointed if my suspicion is correct that is not authentic Coach. The C’s look legit, but there’s no creed inside and the only tag says “made in China” - no number or anything. I’d love to know if I’m correct or if I managed to get an authentic bag in like new condition for $3. Thanks in advance!

Did you issue the refund before receiving the item back? Or did you issue the return label for the buyer to return it?

I have good news and I have bad news!

The bad news is that you're wrong about authenticity.

The good news is that the bag is authentic! It's from approximately 2005, give or take a year or two in either direction.

It's a mini signature top handle pouch and pouches are among a variety of smaller items (wristlets, wallets, pouches, swingpacks) that may or may not have creeds. Those with creeds may or may not have serial numbers.

Good Evening Authenticators, Can you authenticate this one for me please:

Thank you so much!

There was a series of posts here just a few weeks ago about problems noted in several of that seller's listings. Not only did the seller post a photo from another bag as the creed photo, but one of her buyers had a serious complaint about condition. The posts start here on April 17:

My first response was here:

and MORE problems reported by the buyer who received a bag Not As Described AND moldy:

and follow-up comments from BeenBurned here.

The bag you're asking about is genuine, but the seller calls it "beautiful". However I'm seeing scratches and what could be damaged leather (a "pebbly" look in the first photo) and combined with what that previous buyer went through I personally would be very hesitant to buy from that seller, " caecae09 " at Poshmark. That's my personal opinion, take it for what it's worth. That's why we always recommend searching tPF for a seller's name and ID to see if they have any kind of history.

More opinions are welcome.
