I am trying to find out the style number and proper name of this purse
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-SNAPH...769?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3f3928d461

If this is the wrong place to post this, can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!
#42533. That snaphead pattern in both blues and pinks was called Alexandra, not sure if that's the proper name for these shades though. I'm sure someone else with more info will add to this. Actually, I'm pretty curious now myself.

Please post questions about identifying or naming a Coach in the "ID This Coach Item" thread in the main Coach forum

Questions about whether a specific item is authentic should be posted in the Authenticate this Coach thread.

ANOTHER addition to the Fakes List

C5C-2358

This always-fake number has been found on several "Court Bags" and is fake no matter what style it's in since -2358 is NOT a valid handbag style number, and definitely is NOT the right code for a Court Bag. The serial numbers will probably have an unusually thick font, and the creed font also will not be the one used during 1995 by the C plant. Here's an example:

Hi would love to hear opinions on the authenticity of this vintage bag please?

http://www.ebay.ie/itm/371051463394?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Serial number is 042-1312

Thanks! :smile1:

Please use the AUTHENTICATE THIS COACH thread from now on for authenticating specific items. Read post number One in that thread to see what other information we need for authentications. Thanks!

The bag is genuine, but it's not a Penny, it's much too big. From the measurements it's a Convertible Clutch, style 9635 probably from the mid-1980s.

There's another style number that's been showing up on fakes.

The counterfeiters are getting more creative. Having seen that Coach is indicating department store exclusives with a letter code at the end of the serial number, fakes are showing up that way too.

Beware of style 1814M. That style is showing on various patterns of soho flap bags, some with optic signature patterns and some with regular signature patterns. Prefixes (I've been seeing) have 2002 and 2003 year codes.

(This might already be posted here somewhere but I didn't see it, or I didn't look hard enough.)

BTW, this is the REAL style 1814, a Green Scribble Flower Purse Charm from around Spring 2006
ETA - Just reported six other fakes with that style number

And if I didn;t mention it before, it's become impossible to update any of my Guides or even to post a new one with the additional numbers. And thanks to the @$$wholes at Lithium there's no one even handling questions or problems about the Guides, much less a separate thread and Mod just for that subject like there used to be. So no more Guide updates at The Shyte Pit until and unless something changes. Fat chance of that happening. :pout:

Beware: B0973-12988

A post on today's ebay "fashion" board revealed what seems to be an up-and-coming serial number, possibly legit but seen on more fakes than authentic bags. My search today showed 5 current listings of bags with 12988, NONE of which were authentic!!
http://www.ebay.com/dsc/i.html?_fro...l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0&_odkw=coach+12988&_osacat=0

And of the 6 completed listings, just 2 were authentic.

This thread shows a fake Kristin bag with 12988. For a Kristin, it's a close fake but is nothing like what the style should look like.

This is style 12988:

Please authenticate this coach sonoma bag for me

Coach sonoma backpack
Etsy seller: Vintageair
link; https://www.etsy.com/listing/201270...f=shop_home_active_4&ga_search_query=backpack
The seller lists the model as 4908, but I saw a bag on ebay with 4908 as a messenger.
I ask the seller for a better picture of the creed, but she hasn't replied. Thanks ladies!

Sorry, I should have posted in Authenticate this Coach

Without a better picture of the creed (which I'm unable to read), it's possible that she did a typo. Another possibility is that the serial number might be NT-4908, a known invalid number.

If you can request a closeup picture of the creed from the seller, you can post it here:
