You're right on all points. The Star and Moon keychain was style number 92031 and I think was from 2007. The Penguin 66659 was just from the last year and made for the Factory stores at at alleged "retail" of $38.

The keychain in the listing looks real but the seller apparently isn't to be trusted. If that isn't the right tag then it's NOT "NWT".

Thank you very much Hyacinth!

Hello ladies! I don't know of an area to ask this so I chose here. There is an ebay auction for a NWT keychain, the keychain is authentic, but I'm pretty positive that the price tag was taken from another fob. (link is posted below)

For one thing, the keychain is an older style with a little newer style tag and as far as I can tell, the number belongs to a later style penguin fob. The style number looks to be F66659, can you take a look and see if you agree?

The keychain looks new, but the nwt's is misleading if it's not the correct price tag.....

I got a pre owned Coach Penelope satchel that came with a clochette. I have tried to find pictures to see how it is supposed to be attached, but I have not been able to find any, so I would love to know, if someone could help me. Thank you!

1) If it is a real Coach item
2) If it belongs to this purse
3) If real and original to the purse, how to attach it.

Some pictures that show how well it matches the purse, but it is about 12" long and the way it was attached to the purse, doesn't look right to me.

I'm guess that yours is style 9713 since that's the only Penelope I can think of with a clochette? (Coach usually calls them "key hoods" since that describes the purpose more clearly.)

Normally you just put the strap behind one of the purse straps or through one of the strap's hardware rings, put the "hood" end through the loop, and snug it up. Here's a picture of a Scribble Satchel showing how it's supposed to look.

Looking at your picture though it looks like there's only a very small loop on the end, it doesn't look like the Penelope's is the same kind of strap as what they used on the Scribbles. If that strap isn't the same kind as on the Scribble then I don't know how it goes on either. Is yours actually a single-layer strap with a small closed loop? The only photo I have from Coach's website of your style doesn't show how it's attached. And the catalog doesn't show the key hood at all even though it mentions it in the description.

If the key hood strap is only a single thickness you might have to remove the key ring, pull the hood off, thread the end where the key ring goes through the loop, then put the key ring end back through the hood and reattach the key ring.

Thank you so much for your input, I will try your advice on how to attach it.

The ladies at the rehab forum had been trying to help me out with it as well, but I thought about asking here as I had started to doubt it actually belonged to this purse.

And I will start using the term key hood as used by Coach. I admit learning about "clochette" on the rehab forum when I first asked what it was, and thought it was the proper way to call it, but now I understand, thanks on that front as well.

I have a Penelope Bouquet ;) 9714. I didn't know what the little "thingy" was for until recently, but it is definitely awkwardly long. It usually ends up wrapped around the other strap, though I never really did that on purpose.

Love the Penelope (pronounced) Bouquet! I've never seen a key hood from the Penelopes IRL and can't understand why they originally made them that way instead of with the shorter double strap like on the Scribbles. It DOES seem awkward but draping it over the bag's other strap ring looks like a good idea. The one from my Scribble just ends up kicking around the bottom of the bag.

Good luck, I hope you figure out a way to attach it. It just doesn't seem very practical, so I never even use mine, even though the ones on the Scribble Stitch styles are a lot easier to work with. Coach probably redesigned them after complaints from customers who were going nuts trying to attach the darned things. :graucho:

What if the color of lining inside is different? It's plain satin but the color is different compare to another same model.

Linings will only be the same color if the OUTSIDES are the same color. And sometimes if a later version of the same style number is made, for instance for the Factory Stores, the lining can still be a different color.

If you want to know if it's genuine, please post in the Authenticate This Coach thread after reading post number one to see what information we need.

I wish I could say I came up with the idea of draping it, but I guess it just ended ip that way and I didn't notice. I didn't realize it was for a key until recently. I wish my life was simple enough that I only needed one key.

Amen to that! It may be fine for the highline Euro brands like LV and Chanel and Fendi, where city dwellers might not have cars and one key to their home or flat is all they need (or have a chauffeur to do the driving and a maid to let them into their house or apartment). I need three separate keys just to check my mail and get into my condo, and those skinny key hoods won't even hold one of my car keys comfortably.

It's probably a neccessity when there are no outside pockets on the bag to hold a keychain (or two in my case.) Give me the outside pockets any day. I HATE when manufacturers can't be bothered to put outside pockets on bags.
