I'm pretty much the same with "J" month codes in pre-China leather bags. :D
You just made me go through my bags to see how many J month codes I have! One of my geometrics and one of my Abbies have a J month code for 1997. I'm sure they are authentic because I have multiples of these to compare to. I don't remember seeing any fakes with a J month code for 1997.

I avoid plant codes of J, L, R and Y if they are made in the US too!

I'm pretty sure the plant code in the second one is a C, not a G. The before and after letters don't fit "G". The C just has a little nick in it where the horizontal bar on the G would be.

Sorry - I agree the creed in that second photo is a C plant code. I believe it is authentic.

I was demonstrating the lettering in "characteristic" in a genuine bag. I couldn't find any G bags to compare to. The post after that shows the compressed lettering on a fake bag with a B plant code. I am inclined to avoid any bag with the compressed lettering for "characteristic" until I see it in a known authentic bag and then I would stick with that plant and time period.

I've never analyzed that detail. It would probably depend on the spacing of the other words in the same line and in the rest of the creed.

Coach Guides on Ebay

Just a heads-up for everyone - Ebay has changed the URLs for all the Guides posted there. The old URLs are being automatically redirected to the new location, but it might not be a bad idea to save the new ones somewhere, just in case of computer or Ebay glitches:

The Daria48 Coach Fake Serial Numbers List
BTW, this one was written as a "mutual" project and both Daria and I know about and OK each's other's Guides. Neither one of us is plagarizing the other. ;)

We've found that it's much easier updating the Ebay guide with new info than it is to completely re-do the list here at tPF, so that one is usually more up to date than my old one here. And yes, I will get around to it eventually, I promise!.)

Yep, it looks ok. Same details as this one with an outlet mark except for the month code. It looks ok to me too.
Thanks. I feel a lot more comfortable with G codes when they look like this. They look a lot like some H plant creeds, the way the line of the G runs into the dash.

I saw a small patchwork bag while I was out this morning. The serial number started with M3U, so I left it quick, thinking those were always fake. I did snap a bad picture of the full number to check against my list at home. M3U-10729. Now that I'm reading over the Fake Serial Number guide, I see that there were some genuine bags with this number from 2003. When were the patchwork lines produced? This bag was dark shades, with chocolate brown and burgundy. I'll appreciate any comments!

Although there are authentic bags with the M3U prefix, I don't think 10729 was one of them. Bags from 2003 usually had a 4 digit style number. I remember patchwork in those colors from 2005. I think you were smart to leave that one behind.

I don't believe that it sounds authentic. The holiday patchwork bags weren't from 2003 and most M3U I've seen are fake.
