Just a quick addition to this, if it's ok:
"Second, as a generality, all-leather bags are not faked. They just are not cost efficient for the fakers. And you can usually tell real leather and the fake stuff when it’s on the entire bag (as opposed to trims, etc)."

Many of the older leather bags were faked. Counterfeit leather bags made before Coach switched production to China are often found on Ebay. They almost always will have incorrect or even nonexistant serial numbers, incorrect hardware, thin flimsy straps and misspellings or other mistakes in the creed stamp. The counterfeiters tended to use the same serial numbers over and over and there's a post at Ebay's Shoes Purses and Accessories forum that lists the most common fake numbers.

Some fakes were surprisingly well-made and most of those came from Korea, but ANY bag marked Made In Korea is fake.

Here's where to find the post:
eBay Forums: Fake Coach items, serial number NT-4903 ...

and here's a copy of Daria48's list - remember, always check the serial number! If you're interested in an older bag just post the auction number or link on the Authenticate This thread and I'll be glad to take a look at it.
..............

"Here are the most common ones so far on the older bags, and some of these numbers are appearing on fake Signature bags too:

NT-4903
NT-4908
TN-9085
7H-7456
NT-4115
TN-9096
TN-9951
4C-9911
40-8624
TN-4186
NT-4157
TN-4136

ANY Coach bag with only two letters or one number and one letter to the left of the hyphen can be assumed to be fake.

501-20 + all similar numbers starting with 101-, 202-, 501-, 701-, etc., followed by 2 or 3 numbers after the dash and usually with a patch that says "made in Korea".
Coach never made bags in Korea and never used serial numbers with only 5 or 6 digits like this:
"xxx-xx" or "xxx-xxx" and without the abbreviated "No." in front of the numbers

H4B-0516

H4B-0678

H4B-0517

H4B-0520

H4B-0532

Probably ANY serial number beginning with H4B is fake except for a Scooter Bag H4B-9893

012-3445

A2G-6094

M4N-4154
Anything starting with M4N is suspect.

There is at least a 95 percent chance that bags with this number are fake:
308-9875

There are some ending in -9927 but aren't Willis Bags

And the counterfeiters are using many legitimate-looking serial numbers but on the wrong style bags.

Check EVERY bag that you buy or sell carefully! Double-check the serial number against others listed for sale. And report the fakes to Ebay."

I read somewhere that if it is a messenger or travel bag , that a vintage Coach creed number 012-3445
was authentic
Is this true?
Thank you for your help

No, that serial number is fake. (At one time, there may have been an item with that random number, but the chances of finding the one item with that particular serial number are slim to none.) Understand that random serial numbers were unique (unlike the serial numbers on creeds since 1994) and there would only have been one bag with the number. Unfortunately, the serial number has shown up on many various bags and many different styles of bags.

If you've read any other valid Coach guides, you'll also have read that all-number serial numbers were only used before 1994 and each number was only used once and was unique to each bag. Here are just a few examples of that "unique" number to show why it's always fake. And these are just the tip of the iceberg, we've found dozens more, and notice the crooks even used it in a fake Planner which should never have a serial number. Many of the fakes including all three of the examples here also have an incorrect "fat" font for the serial number that was NEVER used by Coach.

My boyfriend has a Monogram Louis Vuitton mens wallet and would like to know if its authentic or fake. For some reason my computer wont upload a picture of it but the inside says M60223. Neither of us has owned anything by LV. The wallet was a gift so were not sure where it was bought at. We would like to sell it if its authentic. Any one know if this is fake or authentic? Please help us. If pictures of it would help identify if its fake I will email them to someone if need be.

Thanks in advance,
Miranda Craig

You've posted in the wrong forum. It should be posted in the LV forum here: http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vu...-format-post-1-a-822901-436.html#post25216478

I'm sure they will need pictures in order to authenticate.

I've noticed that the word "characteristic" in these creeds seems squished compared to authentic creeds.

I'm pretty sure the plant code in the second one is a C, not a G. The before and after letters don't fit "G". The C just has a little nick in it where the horizontal bar on the G would be.
