Authentic bags do have "Made in U.S.A." on the creed. My lightweights bags have this. I have only seen it on pre-1994 bags. I can't remember if I have ever seen one with "Made in the U.S.A."

It may have been used on a few other styles from other lines, and only in the late 1980s to the early 90s. Always as "Made In U.S.A.", never with "the"

A general authenticity question - did any (real ;) Coach bags ever say "Made in the USA" on the creed stamp -as opposed to "Made in the United States"?
It seems like I've only run across fakes with the "USA" marking?

Just to clarify, not all Lightweights have it. I have some that have the "Made in the United States."

Question: Were the #9315 backpacks a limited production bag? I had one and sold it and now I miss it. When I check the online sites they are scarcer than hen's teeth.

Thanks in advance, mostly just curious and may decide to settle for a backpack with a turnlock on front, but I really liked the magnetic snap.

Hi - Hyacinth had asked for info on any bags with an "A" plant code. This one is on eBay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COLLECTORS-VTG-COACH-LEATHER-SADDLE-LEGACY-HIPPIE-BAG-/261240548217

Thanks, Netlawyer - this one seems ok too. So the A plant must have hung around longer than I thought, or at least Coach kept a small production facility running at the NYC location for quite a few years after most production was moved to other locations. This one might even be a Pilot bag since the 9988 Saddle Bag was officially released less than a year after the date on this one - only a few months less if you count the Berkeley version.

As for your question about the 9315 Bleecker Backpack, I don't know if it was officially "limited" but they hardly ever show up on Ebay.

Is this an authentic creed? I am concerned that it doesn't say where the bag is made. Everything else looks perfect on my Madison tote in punch except the creed doesn't say where it was made. Any advice?

It looks authentic and matches other creeds from the same style. Some of the newer creeds don't say where the bag is made. Look inside the zip pocket - is there a small clear tag that says "Made in China Chine"? Maybe Coach has decided that they don't need to put it on the creed if there is a tag that says it.

Thanks, Hyacinth. Now I am especially bummed that I let my backpack go - it was my go-to hands free bag for many years.

I think you are probably onto something talking about pilot bags - Coach would need to have some way to translate a design into a production model and small scale production with an experienced team would be exactly the right way to ensure you knew what materials were needed, the most efficient way to construct the bag and how to set up the production lines.

Are any of the other A bags close to the release date of the style?

A lot of bags I've seen were older styles that had been production for years. Another theory was that it was used as a training facility.
