Hi, I was told from a reseller that my bag cannot be authentic by Entrupy due to too new. I'm shocked. This bag is I bought from boutique and handcarry back home by myself. Is that true? I never heard about Entrupy cannot authentic due to bag too new...

You're not missing much. Entrupy's IT technology is famous for making serious mistakes with both vintage and new items, there are posts here covering Entrupy mistakes in almost every major designer brand and many are labeled Coach.

When you say you bought it at a boutique, exactly which or what kind of boutique are you talking about? The only "boutiques" we dignify with that description are legitimate Coach stores owned and operated by Coach Inc and their parent company Tapestry.

We can try to authenticate it here, but you'll have to post in the Authenticate This Coach thread. Be sure to read the IMPORTANT - READ ME post at the top of each page carefully and include all the required information and photos listed including 2 small tags deep inside the bag, one on an inside seam and the other that's probably all the way at the bottom seam of the inside pocket.

To add to @Hyacinth's comments, when looking for a professional authentication company, I'd advise using a company that has human authenticators who evaluate items.

For most Coach items, it's not necessary to invest in a professional evaluation. Generally, it's not always cost effective with a midpriced brand like Coach unless there's a specific reason for a pro.
  • If the item has anomalies that might make the item questionable, i.e., difficult to impossible to read creed, alterations that may make the item appear questionable or a legitimate mistake made during manufacture.
  • If a seller has had multiple removals and is required to include COAs with sales -- but be aware (again) that some companies have been found to make a LOT of mistakes so a COA isn't necessary proof of authenticity
  • There are some newer styles (within the last 5 years or so) where the fakes have been extremely close. So it's sometimes recommended that if you didn't personally buy an item directly from Coach or one of their authorized department store partners, verifying authenticity is a good idea, both for your reputation as well as for buyer reassurance.
But in most cases, having your item looked at here and verified is totally adequate. You can also refer potential buyers to your post or suggest they make a post if they feel the need to do so.

But I'll second Hyacinth's opinion of Entrupy. I personally wouldn't use them to evaluate anything. 50% accuracy isn't good enough, IMO.

I don't know where to ask this, as it does not seem to fit anywhere . I would like to know if I have to purchase an item on ebay if it is ruled non-authentic. I'm asking because I saw a purse I have been looking for, right after it was posted. But about 15 min later it was gone. I did not jump right on it because I did not know if it was authentic, and had no time to ask here. Had I bought it when I saw it, then had it authenticated as fake, would I still have had to pay for it ? Thanks to anyone who can answer.

Usually on ebay you have at least one hour to cancel a purchase as long as the seller hasn't shipped. I believe most buy it now listings are set to require immediate payment so you may have had to pay if you had bought it. If the item is deemed fake, you could contact the seller and ask for a cancellation. The listing could disappear if it was reported as fake. If the seller hasn't shipped, you should probably be okay. At any rate, if you get a fake, the ebay money back guarantee should protect you.

I'll answer your question in 2 parts.

1. Note that sellers aren't required to cancel even if requested within the first hour and even if they haven't shipped.

However, it's a dumb seller who won't do it because if the buyer doesn't get the cancellation and feels forced to pay, they will likely file a "not as described" dispute to get a refund.

2. If you purchase an item then, before paying learn it's fake, you can always let the seller know what you found out. Some sellers might be honest enough to cancel and not relist. Other sellers might brush you off, cancel and relist, but if fake and you find out, it can be reported on the HOS (hall of shame) thread and it'll be removed, probably before you've even paid for it!

ETA: According to ebay policy, the time to authenticate and/or ask questions is before bidding or buying. But knowing that there are lurkers who will often buy something out from under you, I certainly understand why buyers wait.

Thank you, BeenBurned, hopefully eventually I will get some feel for the creed looks to make a semi intelligent purchasing decision in those cases which require fast thinking. But, of course, it is those fab finds where fakery might also be lurking.

Thank you whateve, did not know if the charms were allowed there. I have only seen purses and wallets
We can do clothes, belts, shoes, jewelry -- anything made by Coach, but some of those things we don't have as much experience with. All of us authenticators have keychains and charms in our files.

Thanks whateve, until I started to look seriously into getting more coach bags (and joined this forum) I did not even know that Coach made all that other stuff. I'm really in the know - not.

HI, thank you so much for help us, I have a question, what this last number mean

#M40-9944-B112 I never see a purse with so many numbers, is an authentic coach? I been thinking to buy on eBay

Please post to the authentication thread. See Vlad's post at the top of each page of the AT thread for the information we need.

ETA: I found the listing:

Seller antiqueboutique*123

The serial number on that bag is M4C-9944. I think the "B112" is the part of the seller's inventory control system probably telling her where to find the bag. With over 12K listings, the seller needs an organized system to keep track of her items.

It's authentic.
