December Activities and Challenges - pick and choose as you please.

I. 2024 Year In Review Reflection
(Thanks @Vintage Leather)

Utilize these thought starters to evaluate your collection, your usage patterns and your lessons learned in 2024.
• What is your most useful purse?
• What is your best purchase of the year?
• We’ve all had a lot of lifestyle changes this year - how has it affected your style?
• What is the one thing we’ve learned this year that you want to take into the next?

II. Setting 2025 Goals
Take this month to consider what you want to do with your handbag collection, wardrobe or even your beautiful life in 2025. Share these thoughts in January when we start the 2026 Shopping Your Closet thread.

III. End of year optional challenges

• Holiday colors: December has many holidays celebrated across the world - red & green, brown & gold, blue & white and more! Pick the holiday that you want to honor and wear / show off your bags in those traditional colors.

• End with a bang: As we come to the last part of the year, wear the last bag you’ve purchased at least 3 times this month.

@Vlad please pin this to the top of our thread.

IT’S HERE!

I celebrate my bday the entire month of December (I mean, why not? ) but got to a slow start this year due to surgery. Now that I’m home from the hospital, Mr. Sparkle has started giving me some of the gifts he’s selected for me. The one he started with (because I’ve been bouncing like a 3 yo kid promised candy since he mentioned it) is my new handbag!

<Let me just remind you. Mr. S. is great at getting me bags I end up loving that I would NEVER choose to spend the money on. Mr. S, thy name is enabler!! He continued that approach with this bag.>

Jimmy Choo Pink Mix Satin Crystal Bon Bon!

:yahoo:

(I’ll share two stock photos and just one IRL close up to show the crystals because I’m not up to staging a good pic yet. LOL!) View attachment 6097882View attachment 6097883View attachment 6097884

I think this bag is my spirit animal.:giggle: I’m going to keep it on my dresser as motivation to do the work to get back to my fully healthy, sparkly, bubbly self!

I can’t wait to be able to wear her!!! Hmmmm, now I need new shoes, right? :roflmfao:
Wow, what a stunner!

Tomorrow I'm attending a 'Winter Wonderland' cocktail party followed by a full dinner. Thursday I have the ballet, and Friday I have been invited to neighbours for dinner after work.

Friday, I am definitely wearing a dark green velvet skirt suit, so I will just need to change my boots to shoes and change my bag for dinner. I don't know which bag to change into. No red otherwise I will look like a Christmas tree. I just need my keys, card case and phone. My neighbour and their friends are usually super-casually dressed.

I was going to wear my Etro silver/gold coat on one day, I don't know whether to wear it to the ballet or 'Winter Wonderland'. I could wear it with my laminated leather silver Balenciaga Le City (adding to Challenge #III •"End with a bang") Tanner Krolle silver croc-print Latch shoulder bag or Gucci light gold mirror leather Romy clutch. Apart from the Blanciaga, I have hardly worn the others recently.

This Christmas I am actually feeling more positive than last year (I was a bit in shock at DH's diagnosis and start of treatment) I have decided that seeing people and going out and doing things in the run-up is better than moping.

Some of you have given me your kind regards re DH.
DH is on his round 5 of chemo. He is having some major side effects but he is still hopeful. We won't know if there is any progress until January when he has new tests and scans hence why I don't really want too much time on my hands. DH wants time alone too and he is being inundated with family calls and visits

With all the stress , going out and having some fun is really needed. Have a wonderful time!

I’m proud of myself! In the spirit of the thread, I am determined to stop my 2024 self soothing spending. I’m at the tipping point of moving from

“Yes, I’ve acquired more than I normally would but all the purchases are good ones”

into

“These are stupid decisions fueled by boredom & self pity”

What item woke me up? I purchased these earrings on a Black Friday sale: Gucci 18K Yellow Gold Double G Earrings. View attachment 6098151

Nothing about these earrings are me. I have long hair so I typically don’t wear studs as they get “lost” in my look. I am not usually a fan of wearing logos if I can avoid it. And this Gucci treatment reminds me of the Cover Girl brand mark so it’s one of my least favorite logos. What a numbskull idea for me to buy them.

So, this morning I was thrilled to see Saks’ email saying they’re delayed. I RUSHED to call them to cancel the order. :yay:

Now I’m on a general all purpose 360 degree buying ban! I’m making a list of specific items I want for my wardrobe and will only buy those after much deliberation.

But, even with that, I’m buying nothing for 4 months. Instead, I’ll focus on solving the core issue - regaining my health and fitness after all these health problems. That will enable me to return to doing the (non buying) things I love vs being bored and feeling sorry for myself which drove the spending.

Sometimes the most difficult thing is parenting yourself through tough times. :shrugs:
Sparkle- you are so smart! Sending you hugs and birthday very bestest wishes.
That JC purse is AdorABle, and totally absolutely, you. Wear it in the best of health and with joy.

I’m so glad you’re feeling positive - you need some beauty and joy right now.
Sending all my most positive vibes to you and DH. :hugs:

Thanks for the update, and I’m glad you have events to keep your mind occupied. Sending the best to you and DH! Hang in there!

Last week was a good handbag week

Balmain and Bal Bowler Tuesday
Bal le City Weds
Hermes Rouge H Bolide Friday.

What a weekend :sweatdrop: though.

Started Saturday with a migraine and vomiting (I think I didn't drink enough water on Friday) as a huge storm decided to launch a tree into my garden from next door. My poor shed. My poor pear tree. It cost me, but a tree surgeon managed to put almost everything is put to rights this afternoon. I still have a lot of clearing-up to do. I knew that tree needed pollarding, it was top heavy. The sad thing is the birds loved it in the Spring and Summer, so I will miss it too.

I can't believe that was my weekend. I managed to see a friend as her husband spent all night at the A&E after having an accident at work, but she lives down the road so I just threw on a Loewe leather duffle coat and used my pockets.

How is everyone else?
Oh my! I just saw this post. Hope you are feeling better now.

Love your gold bag. At first, I thought it was a gold star bag.

It's silver but it may be reflecting yellow light. My Gucci Romy clutch i originally thought was silver is officially light gold. Not as gold as the 'matching' belt though :wondering:

The Bal Le City certainly gets lots of compliments.

I remember when you were debating whether or not to get this bag. I’m SO glad you did as it’s a stunner that - in my mind - screams Papertiger style!

Hopeful is good. My best wishes to you both for a peaceful and relaxing holiday season. Have a good time this weekend at the cocktails; dinners; and ballet. :)
