December Activities and Challenges - pick and choose as you please.

I. 2024 Year In Review Reflection
(Thanks @Vintage Leather)

Utilize these thought starters to evaluate your collection, your usage patterns and your lessons learned in 2024.
• What is your most useful purse?
• What is your best purchase of the year?
• We’ve all had a lot of lifestyle changes this year - how has it affected your style?
• What is the one thing we’ve learned this year that you want to take into the next?

II. Setting 2025 Goals
Take this month to consider what you want to do with your handbag collection, wardrobe or even your beautiful life in 2025. Share these thoughts in January when we start the 2026 Shopping Your Closet thread.

III. End of year optional challenges

• Holiday colors: December has many holidays celebrated across the world - red & green, brown & gold, blue & white and more! Pick the holiday that you want to honor and wear / show off your bags in those traditional colors.

• End with a bang: As we come to the last part of the year, wear the last bag you’ve purchased at least 3 times this month.

@Vlad please pin this to the top of our thread.

...next attempt... the system ate my post halfway through.

No bags or slgs in or out. There's nothing tempting out there and I'm happy with what I already have. I think second hand prices have become ridiculous.

I bought some old clothes and shoes in December, though.
The best purchase certainly was the job lot with the Springolators.
A pair of 80 ies fashion cowgirls boots popped up for sale, too and I bought them. They have become fairly rare.

Those are amazing! I would love those too, so puss-in-boots meets cowgirlboots.

These 'angels' are certainly testing. I was a very relentlessly spirited 7 year old who threatened to break the windows with a football at one particular high(spirited) point. I can't imagine what she will be like in 8 years time ;)

I think you would approve. Our evening ended by playing 'Project Runway' with dolls as models and making outfits from scraps of leftover fabric. I was mentor and in charge of scissors and pins and two mummies and grandmother were judges for the challenges.

Unfortunately, there was no 'accessories wall' but it did mean we didn't have to deal with broken glass on NYE.
I love this! What a perfect evening!

They are actually comfy! Sold as size 39, but actually a "7" - sellers and sizes are a mystery!-so even though shoes tend to shrink over time exactly my size. I wore them to the supermarket...
It's become a rare occasion, that a pair like these turns up for sale. And this one was cheap as in 20€ including shipping, too! Everything people sell as vintage is plastic repro now. I must be old... plus there's a fair chance, I already raided the market in prior years....

Oops! I ended up the year with more bags in than out!

Sad to say that some of my bags didn't get carried the entire year, even though I really like them.

The exercise program I started last month kind of fizzled. Somehow I injured my leg. By the time I started physical therapy, the leg wasn't hurting much anymore but the opposite foot was! I have no idea what is going on with my body. It's been weeks and the foot still hurts. Other than that, I'm enjoying physical therapy. Once I get better, I'll start exercising at home again, incorporating some of the things I learned at therapy. I feel guilty that I haven't been able to go on walks with DH, as he won't walk without me. So this is impacting his health too. He wants to travel but I can't until I can walk for long distances without pain.

Sales are super slow. I have no plans to buy anything designer again, unless it is an extreme bargain, as they are too hard to sell.

You have my empathy and hugs on the injury. I hope you feel better soon. Don’t feel guilty about the walks. You have to rest to get well and your DH can make the choice to walk for his own good health.

And, I agree on handbags. It’s gotten almost impossible to sell. So anything I buy needs to be a “for life” purchase. I never get tired of my jewelry so I can see myself buying more at some point (although my jewelry collection is robust for my needs so I don’t really lust for more.)

But I can tire of bags fairly easily. So, I’m taking shopping my collection to heart in 2025. I just can’t justify feeling stuck with expensive items I don’t want anymore. When the ones I have listed get sold, I’ll be SO relieved. And I’m forcing a change on my mindset on bags. I’ll learn to go back to thinking of bags as permanent purchases like I did before I joined tPF.

Yes, I feel the most damaging thing is the mindset that I can always sell. I've bought too many things I wasn't sure of just because I thought I could sell if it didn't work out. Once you get on that hamster wheel, it is hard to get off. Life was much simpler before, when all purchases were permanent.

I wore my newest bag 7 times this month so I completed that challenge. It is the easiest as the newest bags always get the most wear. I bought this bag earlier in the month. It's a Dooney & Bourke. I bought it after someone on the forum posted theirs so you could say the forum made me do it! It was a very good price.

For the rest of the year I have a couple of bags I always wear around the holidays that don't get used much the rest of the time.
How do to like the leather? it's such a cute shape and color!

Thanks! The leather isn't bad at all. It feels nice. The bag is so comfortable to carry and really easy to use. It comes in a ton of colors and the price was great. It doesn't have that intoxicating smell that D&B Florentine leather does. So not as nice as some but not anything wrong with it.
