I wish I bought the Chanel mini 2 years ago when it was $700 less. I bought a WOC instead, didn't pull it out to use until past the exchange period, noticed a quality issue which I decided would drive me crazy, consigned it. It was beautiful though and I know I will want a WOC or Mini down the road - if I can get past the price and think it will get enough use.

I have a WOC so a mini would be redundant as it would carry the same items for me. I know this. I need to stop wanting the mini.

I have actually been reworking things in a good way. I sold the LV beaubourg I never wore anymore this month. My small tote that I had made is going to my mom because she loved it so much so I decided to get the Coach tote for winter for myself because it zips closed.

Great! Hope the Coach works better than the Etsy tote!

I'm going to add a huge challenge.

I'm going to try and go 3 months, January 1 to April 1, without buying a new bag or SLG.

This means passing on the LV Valentine's collection, which will be a struggle.

I won't say no to gifts, but I'll be doing my best to not encourage them either!!!

Anyone want to join me on a no in first quarter for 2017?
I'm with you. I'll be with you, and those who are aiming for no purchase months, or the entire year. I wonder if it will be easier the second time around.

I'd like to join in for 2017 please. I have a small collection (10) compared to many on tpf, and I don't want to sell anything at present. But my goal is to save up for a garden party. I've wanted one for ages and I really need to avoid impulse buys, sales bargains and so on, and buy no other bags in 2017 to achieve this!
that's a wonderful goal. I remember when @papertiger got it, it was beautiful. Definitely worth the effort!

Do you think that it makes a difference whether a bag is worn one day and then gets some rest as opposed to being worn several days in a row? Have you experienced that they are "broken in" more quickly in the last case?
No, i think it depends on how you carry it and then care for it after you put it away. If you wear it one day and it rains or you are a little rougher on it, versus carrying it for 5 days straight but you're just going to and from the office and it sits at your desk, it will definitely show more wear. I put my bags immediately away once I switch out of them.

Recap, reshape and resolution 2017

0. Love the idea of 3 or 15 but I have a current rotation of 8 bags and that suits me fine so that won't change

1. Last year I sold lots of vintage bags and I will carry on in 2017, they don't make much money but there's no point in keeping second best of anything, just the best. I only bought 1 non-well known name vintage bag, it was ridiculously cheap, it's very cute for evening and impeccably made.

2. I bought another H bag this year (2016) and will buy another next. That's it and will be it for big purchases unless the Gucci Lilith knocks me senseless!

3. So I've been buying less bags and more fab shoes/boots I can actually walk in with the 'saved' money. I have enjoyed looking at my feet more though. I need to stop buying so much footwear as a substitute.

4. Clear up and get more organised

5. Better vintage is still worth the hunt

6. Wear best for everyday, no saving for when life is perfect

7. Buy a few more H twilly/twillies for bag handles in sober colours (preloved fine)

8. More SLGs (don't have to be designer) to stay organised and switch bags (rather than bag inserts which only really help if all one's bags are the similar dimensions)
#6 is so very true and i have to remind myself of that every day, and not just for bags. What H purchase do you have planned for this year?

I'm planning my January challenge of 15 in 31 and I think there'll be lots of days that I'll wear 2 bags in a day coz I'll only bring 1 or 2 bags with me during the trip and it's a week long trip. This will probably be the great opportunity for me to mix and match and perhaps for the smaller bags to come out. [emoji16] I may become a bag lady a bit for carrying 2 bags together some days. [emoji16] I think it'll be fun! [emoji38]

Sorry for my late reply and thank you all for considering my question about wearing a bag single days vs. some days in a row. I was wondering... Of course, I always treat my bags well, stuff them etc. And I would like them to develop a well-loved, worn look over time. There are some beautiful examples at the bag showcase section...

Concerning the challenge, I think I will go for the 15 in 31. Usually, I am a bit lazy and too protective in the winter months... But Prada Saffiano and my other Saffiano bag, canvas Garden Party, Fendi 2jours, my Tory Burch, Burberry and my Longchamps should stand the test and this is already more than three. No suede around [emoji6]

Question for everyone as we look to optimize our closets.

If you had to give up 1 bag from what you consider to be your "main" collection, what would it be. And...what's keeping you from giving it up now?

I'm a bit odd I actually don't have any bags I consider as main collection or permastash bags. My oldest bags are 2 LV that I've had for about 4-8 years but used sparingly. I didn't sell both as my mother forbids me to do so. One of it is actually hers. My "regular" bags come and go too fast. They rarely made it to 1 year with me [emoji32]. Since I intend to cut down my buying in 2017 I hope I'll be able to enjoy my bags well and even break it in.

This is a tough one because I just got rid of it. If I had to get rid of another it would probably be one of mz bag baby janes because you would have to pry another one of my lv's from my hands. Last year I would have said the Rouge epi speedy but since everyone helped me style it ,it has seen more love again.
