2017 resolution - shopping my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

Me too!


One of the things I need to learn to admire from afar is the Chanel mini.


My one Chanel m/l flap holds all my necessities. I can't imagine the mini holding it all. My WOC barely does it.

I keep lusting after it, but in 2017 I need to come to terms that I can admire the Chanel mini but not need to or have to own it.

I like the mini as well but it seems so small.

2016 is the epiphany year for me, as I culled a lot of my unused bag, I think using logic that @eggtartapproved mentioned. so Basically I grouped my bags based on capacity (large, maxi, small, clutch etc) and ensure that whatever in one category is just enough to be rotated, not too much. I identify some gap, and made my 3 year plan baesd on that gap, so I have long term plan on bag buying hahahaha. the small wallet, small bag (red balenciaga) and largeish bag (veneta) is my 2017 plan bag. and I will be visiting Europe, so I think it's better to buy the bags / slg while am there.

What's so funny is that actually I am comfortable with only 3 types of bag: balenciaga moto, ferragamo sofia and bv veneta, so I have them in various size. somehow it brings familiarity to the bags...

I hate the med/large on me. It falls at a weird drop and looks all wrong on me . The mini drop appears to be longer which I like. I will prob ever buy one.

Yeah I wish the m/l could be crossbody, but it works as shoulder for me.

I wonder if the mini cross body would even look good on me, but it's something I don't need to know.


Everyone, don't let me buy the Chanel mini in 2017!!!

Thanks for the welcome - I think so many things in my life have finally come together that this is the first time in I-can't-remember-how-many years I can actually say I don't need to shop to get joy and satisfaction in my life. Shopping is now driven by need and careful consideration, not a craving for something that can't be bought.
So excited to also revise my collection and sell the pieces I no longer need or love. The opportunity to carry all my bags to work and wear the jewelry I want to makes me soooo happy!:yahoo:

It wasn't hard. LOL! I looked at my list and just took off all the delicate, light colored or evening colored bags. Then I added back in a couple of lamb and a Nubuck bag as a real challenge. I think doing this in January will cause me to look at the bags differently - . But, seriously, if the weather is yucky, I'll have to default on the challenge and try it another month. No point in risking a bag in a blizzard.

To that point, think you could still swing 15/31. I could think of 10 bags you own that could be worn in January. But you have to do what makes you comfy!!

The Gucci. sigh. Every time I see it, I wanna keep it. I adore the turquoise / teal color. So I know I'I not ready to let it go. Its smaller red leather sister however is on it's way out. Speaking of red bags, did you ever sell your red LV? It's patent right? If you haven't sold it, that may be a good bag for this awful weather.

Yea. The ONLY way for me to stay good is to stay off the websites. I can't lie to myself and say I'm just peeking to pass the time. :no: LOL!

I wish I bought the Chanel mini 2 years ago when it was $700 less. I bought a WOC instead, didn't pull it out to use until past the exchange period, noticed a quality issue which I decided would drive me crazy, consigned it. It was beautiful though and I know I will want a WOC or Mini down the road - if I can get past the price and think it will get enough use.
