I'm a bit odd I actually don't have any bags I consider as main collection or permastash bags. My oldest bags are 2 LV that I've had for about 4-8 years but used sparingly. I didn't sell both as my mother forbids me to do so. One of it is actually hers. My "regular" bags come and go too fast. They rarely made it to 1 year with me [emoji32]. Since I intend to cut down my buying in 2017 I hope I'll be able to enjoy my bags well and even break it in.
Wow so your collection is ever changing and evolving. How often do you carry new bags? How do you determine when is the right time to add or remove a bag. Also do you have a set number of bags that you allow or is it whatever makes your heart sing

Spark,
i can do 10 for 31 so that's what I'll do instead of the 3 for 31. I have to go and pick my bags to wear. I have finally got a buyer for my red bag. My SS is buying for his girlfriend for xmas. He's suppose to pick up this week so then I will count it out. Maybe your feeling a teal Chanel to replace the teal Gucci
Congrats on selling the red bag!
Turquoise / teal is one of my favorite colors so I definitely want either it or a rich green (or both) in my collection. But I don't think I want a turquoise Chanel. I just haven't seen another bag with this saturated level of that color which is why I love the Gucci. But I know it's not practical (Nubuck) and if I sell it now I can get the best dollar. So I'm in a quandary. :confused1: I figure it will work itself out over the next 90 days.
Spark,
I'm giving up DH before I let go from my permanent collection. The thought is just sickening lol. Ok now let me see....I guess I could sacrifice my workhorse artsy cause honestly i can't part with my flaps. If I had to let a flap go then it would be the Black Chanel jumbo. The reason being that I can always score another black jumbo. No I take that back because its a single flap so I'm going to have to sacrifice the workhorse.
ROFL! Poor DH. We won't make you give up your flaps so he's safe!

Here it is.

(Excuse the wrinkled comforter. :smile:I'm setting up the guest bedroom for the holidays.)

It's very pretty, I love the finish. Could you make a point of wearing it over the holiday season? Or maybe as part of your Jan challenge and see how it goes? You could wear this bag to parties or casually IMO (it would be great with jeans). I have a do or die approach in this situation, ie when I'm dithering - I make myself wear it for a few days within a set period. If by my self imposed deadline I haven't found an occasion to wear it, or I've worn it and not felt comfortable it needs to go

I use the app but not diligently. I just have all my bags loaded to it. I need to add my clothes but that will take forever. Maybe I will do that over the holidays as I'm off
I added all my bags at once. But I'm just adding everything else (clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, etc.) each day as I wear them. No way I'd sit down and try to input all of it at once.
I've seen some blogs and articles on it which convinced me to try. Plus one of my BFF's swears by it. It's actually fun! And I know it will help me cut out what I'm not wearing at the end of year. Anything I didn't input (because I didn't wear it) will get serious consideration for being cut.

Thanks, Pessie!! And, I agree. Your process is the best. I'm trying to do something like that now with my Gucci tote.

I'll try to wear it over the holidays. Also, I'm going to Las Vegas in Jan so that may be a good time to use it. I actually planned to wear it casually and it just hasn't happened as much as I expected.

This January challenge is coming at a good time. I need to give a number of my bags some days out and about.

I have the same Gucci Soho Disco in tan nubuck (officially colour 'orange' but it's tan). I just sprayed mine with a normal suede protector (Scotch Guard) before wearing a few times over and it still looks like new. I also have a clean, light colour, soft brush I use to bring the nap back from suede or nubuck if it's ever needed (mine comes from Hotter). Gucci also clean their suede or nubuck if it starts to look embarrassing - fraction of a new handbag.

Is everyone joining me and Mimmy and egg on stylebook! That's fantastic!!

I know Mimmy and I have been highly recommending the app since we got it awhile ago! It's so much fun!!
Hooray for Stylebook friends! [emoji106]
Does the app require a lot of space on the phone?
I have everything on my phone, dcooney. I am currently using 244 MB of storage.

I have to credit the Stylebook app at least in part, for helping me refine my closet, and define my style!

@Sparkletastic thanks for the warm welcome!

Your question is a difficult one for me, as I just sold a bag. If I had to get rid of another one, it would be this one ...

Reed Krakoff, shearling Kit bag. Only because I live in FL, and it is a very seasonal bag. I am glad that this is a hypothetical question though, as I do not really want to let it go!

Ah. So you know the love of this bag too! It just makes me happy.

But I actually called Gucci about this and they do not clean the Nubuck. I was surprised to find that is the case and I don't know who else I'd turn to if it did get dirty.

That's interesting, thanks for letting me know. I've always been told not leather but suede and nubuck fine so that would be a change in policy. After Christmas/NY I'll enquire further as to when and why they've changed their corporate minds.

I think if I had to sell a bag, my first instinct is my Mansur Gavriel tote. I actually tried to sell it last year and it didn't sell, then I got an offer on eBay after I took down the listing. I like a lot of things about the bag, but I don't think l love it. So I should probably list it again in the new year. There are other bags I feel similarly about.
