I think if I had to sell a bag, my first instinct is my Mansur Gavriel tote. I actually tried to sell it last year and it didn't sell, then I got an offer on eBay after I took down the listing. I like a lot of things about the bag, but I don't think l love it. So I should probably list it again in the new year. There are other bags I feel similarly about.

If you don't use it and are not loving it anymore just sell it or try wearing it a few days and see how you feel after that if your not sure.

That's interesting, thanks for letting me know. I've always been told not leather but suede and nubuck fine so that would be a change in policy. After Christmas/NY I'll enquire further as to when and why they've changed their corporate minds.
I look forward to hearing what you find out!

I was looking at a MG bag online and considering it for a future purchase. But I've never seen one in person. What do you think about the quality? If you had to compare it, with what brand would you say it's on par?

@Sparkletastic thanks for the warm welcome!

Your question is a difficult one for me, as I just sold a bag. If I had to get rid of another one, it would be this one ...

Reed Krakoff, shearling Kit bag. Only because I live in FL, and it is a very seasonal bag. I am glad that this is a hypothetical question though, as I do not really want to let it go!
Why a beautiful picture and fun bag!

I missed your beautiful photos.

Wow! Can't believe that I am so behind on the 2017 thread!

Some of you know me, for others, "hi, I'm Mimmy"! [emoji112]

I lurked on the 2015 and 2016 threads. I was pretty active before that. I took my time away to really determine "my style". The ladies on this thread have impeccable taste; that's a given! My problem is that I am a marketing expert's dream. If something is presented to me in an appealing way, I like it! [emoji106]This resulted in me ending up with some bags and clothing, that while lovely, had nothing to do with me. [emoji53]

So during that time, I sold, gifted and bought too. This time with more of a plan and a purpose though.

I now have 14 bags; 16 if I count my Le Pliage's.
In 2017 I plan to add only 1 or 2 bags. I like this "skinny" bag count!

16 slg's; this count includes 3 pochettes. I hope to only add 1 or no slg's.

I think that I have finally discovered what works for me. [emoji3] I think that it was louvigilante, who said, I don't have to own everything that I like". True words of wisdom. [emoji432]

Sorry about this long post, but I am hoping that writing it down will keep me accountable!
Nice to see you back Mimmy!! So glad to know you've already discovered what works for you. 14-16 is a great number!!

Oooh good question, I had to think hard about this.
The bag I would give up is this one, because I find the colour very summery. It was a conscious effort to break away from my usual fairly neutral choices, but now I wish I'd chosen a more flexible all-year-round colour, especially as I don't have that many bags in my collection. Reason I will keep it is that it is a fab bag for spring and summer, especially with casual clothes, and I do really love it.

I also had a phase where I wanted colors in my bag collection (not sure this phase is over, but the longing has surely dwindled)! I'm just glad I got contemporary ones since now I want more neutrals again. This bag of yours is beautiful! If you were in my part of the world, this is still a year-round bag. In any case, enjoy this beauty during those seasons!

Here it is.

(Excuse the wrinkled comforter. :smile:I'm setting up the guest bedroom for the holidays.)

Know what, I love this bag!! But if you won't use this, then maybe it has to go. I've done this purge in November. Bags I've not worn but with leathers I was crazy about had to go. Sometimes it's all in the mind.

I look forward to hearing what you find out!

About 2 weeks ago, I saw MG bags IRL for the first time. A boutique carrying several brands has started to carry it. I like how the MG tote looked, although only the small size was available - I was looking for the large one, at that time to compare to the YSL tote. Looked well made and beautiful! I hear though that the leather on it easily scratches.

Wow so your collection is ever changing and evolving. How often do you carry new bags? How do you determine when is the right time to add or remove a bag. Also do you have a set number of bags that you allow or is it whatever makes your heart sing
I use new bag every 1-2 month [emoji28] I also sell actively. I've about 3-5 bags that goes merry go round in and out of my house in a puff [emoji293]. My bag total hovers around 5-10 bags & 2-4 lesportsac/ cheap local design bags. I buy when new collection and style is released. And especially when there's sale. My issue is buy/sell for one brand mainly. I was into Rebecca Minkoff a few years ago. Recent 2-3 years is Mz Wallace. So yes I need to work on using my bags and stop buy/sell.

Congrats on selling the red bag!
Turquoise / teal is one of my favorite colors so I definitely want either it or a rich green (or both) in my collection. But I don't think I want a turquoise Chanel. I just haven't seen another bag with this saturated level of that color which is why I love the Gucci. But I know it's not practical (Nubuck) and if I sell it now I can get the best dollar. So I'm in a quandary. :confused1: I figure it will work itself out over the next 90 days.
ROFL! Poor DH. We won't make you give up your flaps so he's safe!
Spark,

It is a beautiful color but the maintenance hasn't been issue yet so I think your good. If you love it then you could move to your premiere carefree and really use in the summer months.

The red LV will leave tomorrow and I will have 1 out for December. The best part is I sold for $1900. Putting in the fund towards next years bag fund

Oh wow! I didn't know that you usually get rid of bags within a year. Do you do so to stay on trend or because you like a fresh take on your wardrobe? I'm trying (definitely trying not yet succeeding) to go the opposite way. I'd like almost all of my collection to be stable. That's why I set one of my goals at a 100% success rate (no returns or flipping for anything I buy in 2017) It just seems to have taken time to figure out my style and needs.

I kind of know what I will use. Problem is when the bag goes on sale and i convinced myself it's a good price to try the color or style. More often than not the bag gets sold within 1-3 months [emoji28]. I need to work on no flipping and sales

Where do you sell in SG, if you don't mind?

Local SG I use the app carousell - fyi Rebecca minkoff is popular locally too. But for other contemporary brand eg Henri Bendel I list on ebay too. Also some FB bag groups. I'm in some FB groups where there's lots of gals who like bag and especially bag of same brand [emoji28].

Thanks. I was just wondering if you have an active second hand market there. Here I am not too successful. Well for one, I'm not in FB, so FB group is out. I only post in our local ebay. I have not tried olx.ph.

Good advice, thanks!

That's a tough one. I also have a bucket and think the quality is very good from my experience, certainly better than a lot of contemporary brands. I have cammello and like the way the leather is aging. It's pretty structured with the patent (?) interior but it's softened with use. I love the simplicity of them.
