Mulberry leather is divine and i can honestly say their bags are hard-wearing and age very well (my opinion is based on purchases i made in 2012, 2013 and 2015, don't know if the leather is still as good).

I have the old style bayswater tote, a discontinued cross-body bag, a regular lily and i had a discontinued white Suffolk which i sold. My favorites are my cross-body and my bayswater tote.

I got the bayswater in 2013 and this bag has been used on a constant basis. I do not baby it at all and it has aged well. This bag is one of my favs in my bag collection. I will use it till it literally falls to pieces [emoji23] i love it that much.

On the other hand, although the Lily is also divine and hard wearing i do not like it based on the size and the chain. I ordered it without checking out its size in a boutique and its quite small for my needs; also the chain tends to dig into your shoulders when worn cross-body as its quite thin. If i had to redo i wouldn't have gotten the lily. I have refused to sell as the resale value is low so i may end up just gifting it to someone.

I haven't made any new purchases from mulberry in a while, so I can't compare the new leathers to the old but if the quality of the leather is unchanged, you can't go wrong. The only problem i would envisage is choosing a style. In my opinion, most of their best classic styles have been discontinued; nothing in their lineup appeals to me and the leathers look somewhat thinner to me (i maybe wrong).

Hope this helps [emoji4]
Thank you! I hope to get to see some this weekend. Hoping they have some of the older styles still available.

Here are my black bags. Not really much change from last year except for the 2 recent Epis. I actually realized late last year that I neglected my blacks and at that time didn't have a more smart looking black bag for more formal office functions (like for meetings outside). So I really searched when I had my trip recently. I also added 2 Longchamps last year.

At the back row L-R: LV Alma Epi, LV Speedy 30 Epi, RM MAM with green zipper track and RM MAM with iguana trim (I think that's how it's called)

Middle row L-R: Dior small Panarea tote, Dior Maris Pearl, MbMJ preppy nylon Natasha and Longchamp Le Foulonne tote

Front row L-R: LV Speedy 25 Epi, Massaccesi mini Zhoe, Marc Jacobs mini 1984 and Marc Jacobs Rita shoulder bag with chain strap

Solo at the middle front: Longchamp medium Neo tote

In addition, I have blacks I have designated as document/laptop bag:

Left is Longchamp Le Pliage N/S tote, top right is A Fossil Emma laptop bag that has just been delivered to my sister and which I will get in June, and a Tod's big leather tote (I don't know the name).

You have a great collection! I see you love top handle bags; they are a favorite of mine too!

Thanks!! Top handles/satchels are really my thing and my black bags reflect that. But of course for variety I need one or two of another style.

Actually, when we did our blue bags, I realized I no longer have a top handle in rotation when I sold the Massaccesi Daphne navy and listed the Prada. So I'm going to order one soon as blue is a fave color ! [emoji4]

Most of the older styles were discontinued after the last sale. You may be in luck if you go to Bicester and and find something there, but check the linings - latterly Mulberry started putting microfibre linings in Alexas, some Bayswater's and some Lily's instead of suede. Personally I hated it  Some old style Bayswaters are still available on m.com at the moment in oxblood, black and oak, but IMO the leather is not as good as it used to be. I had a look at some oxblood Bayswater's in my local shop and all the bags in stock were very poor - colour mismatch, skinny leather, and not worth £950. I walked away. Of the new leathers I think the smooth calf is gorgeous and much the nicest leather, and I like the printed goatskin - the grained calf is quite stiff though, and I prefer smoochier bags - it just depends whether any of the new styles are for you :-) But for old styles I'd recommend the outlets or looking for something in good condition on the secondary market. I hope that helps!

I made a decision a year ago to only go for classic bags and stay clear of seasonal pieces; that way i would have a collection i could enjoy forever and possibly pass down to my daughter. I did a major bag overhaul and streamlined my collection.
My goals for this year is to add 3 key pieces i've been eyeing (Hermes Evelyn III GM, Lambskin Medium Lady Dior in black GHW and Speedy b25 in DE) and then later on, add key colors to my clutch collection (silver, fuchsia pink, navy blue).
I'm going to pace myself; get the 3 key pieces first, go on ban island for at least 6 months, then get the clutches. Hope i can achieve my goals!
Love your next 3 goal bags. What colour Evelyne are you looking for?

It is an outlet I will travel too. Thanks so much for all your help. I now know to make sure I check the inside very well as much as the outside . If I go for it this would be my first mulberry.

Thank you.

I'm looking at gold taurillion. Evelyns i've been told, are really scarce right now. I have a friend who works as a personal shopper and its been difficult hunting one down. None in the UK; she just came back from Paris as well, no luck.
This will be my first H purchase so no history with a boutique or SA.
As long as shes able to get one brand new from her contacts, I don't mind paying a premium for it. Would still work out cheaper than a B or a K (which i would love to own but the whole drama involved in getting one is not for me).

You're welcome :-) and I always ask to see all the bags in stock in the style/colour I'm interested in, as the leather can vary so much from bag to bag. I prefer a grainier leather myself, but others prefer it smooth - it helps to see them all. Hope you find something you love :p

It's a great style for every day, I hope you find one. ^ this explains why I've seen so few of them on h.com lately :-(

Gold will be lovely - I didn't know Evelynes were hard to find right now.
I have an Evelyne III PM in etoupe clemence and I find it such an easy bag to wear and use - one of my most used bags.
Good luck with your search!

Re H Evelyne, there are a few of them in Dubai (we have 2 boutiques here), if you, of anyone close, travels here for vacs or business, you can get it from here.
They have Bolides as well.

Re Mulberry, i completely agree with all above said with ref to new models, they are just boring plain, or crazy trendy, not comparable to the older models.
They wear and age well, and as the other side of the coin, if you are on the buying side, you can get a good deal for a steal, and their Oxblood is TDF
