Happy New Year, everyone!!! I'm going back home now and this is my first out of 15 this month! [emoji4]

I was thinking about doubling the bag to make the number before the trip next week, but then, it's not really convenient so I just pack one as usual. [emoji28] Anyway, I'll change into a new one for tomorrow. If it's not for the challenge, I may stay with her a bit longer coz I'm falling back in love a bit. [emoji4]

We talk a lot about other areas of our closet here too, so feel free to share! I know a lot of us try to minimize here as well... there's also the Cleaning out the Closet thread which is great too!
Thanks for the tip! May I've the link to the thread, please? I found one thread but that consists only 1 page... maybe wrong one?

I control myself by staying to my list. So perhaps we are more focused on the very disciplined and thoughtful buying. Do you know what one bag you want. Having an idea of what you want will help you push past the opportunity bags.

Thanks Spark! I don't have a particular bag on my purchase list expect a black work bag which I've been hunting it for a couple of years now. I do have detailed requirement list for this bag which is why I haven't found my work horse yet. In the meantime, I use a cushioned laptop backbag which is totally fine & comfy. The work bag isn't included to my "1 bag purchase/year" list because I consider it as a necessity.

Do I post my intended purchase to this thread or is there another thread devoted to Pause Peninsula party?

I'd love to be slapped with a bag to my face - especially made of a thick, quality deer leather or soft furry bags. Those are my secret sins but I can stay away from them as long as I don't touch on anything. Online shopping is pretty safe.

At the end of 2015, I wrote on the 2016 version of this thread that I wanted to buy no handbags in 2016. I bought nothing. There was a bag bought for me though by DH, the new mulberry Bayswater. We had a talk and I just wasn't feeling it so we returned it. He's an understanding man and he took no offence. For 2017 the plan remains the same. I have a lot and I am grateful for all that I have and will continue to enjoy what I have. Surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult to abstain last year. Good luck to everyone as they make their New Years resolutions with regards to handbag buying Xx

We can be very discouraging on new purchases!! Haha. But at least you know a total ban isn't you. It isn't me either.

Come join us in the money talks forum, in cleaning out the closet.
I don't believe ever asking this but I do need discouragement. :noworry: People closest to me are just too supportive which is a real issue in the manner of cutting my spending. Good to know total ban is neither for you. I'm still wondering which thread is cleaning out the closet (link)? I'd love to join!

Marie Kondo method doesn't work for me because almost everything sparks joy due to good memories associated with the goods. I just need more clear, concrete rules than those based on feelings and thoughts, for example, I'd phase out the clothes I use less than 10 times/year expect evening gowns.

We do all the thinking right here. What is your 1 bag that you are working towards? I don't know how to do links but the cleaning out the closet thread is in the money forum.

Wow, That could not have been easy to return. Congrats on sticking with your goals.

I was really fortunate to get some nice Christmas presents this year. :amuse: I'll share some later but one of my favorites is The Hookup purse hanger. I refuse to put my bags on the ground so this is great for me!!! I received the platinum one which is wonderful as most of my bags have WG, rhuthenium, etc hardware.

Here it is on my so black YSL. I'm not a purse charm gal but this looks clean and elegant.

This is soooo sturdy and well made. I think I'm going to ask for the 22k gold one too. :p

If you're interested you can grab one here. https://fafaconcepts.com/

I love how one of the designers styled hers with the Chanel chain. So cute! I may have to try this.

This is great. I have an adorable purse hook with a fleur de lis on it that I haven't used in ages. I am suddenly falling back in love with my handheld bags ,so I think I am going to search my closet for it. I like the clean lines of yours.

DC, funny that you mentioned falling in love again with your handhelds. I, a satchel girl, have fallen for some totes!! Similar but reverse experiences!

Spark - lovely hook, though I cannot make one work for me.

Tuned83 - well done for 2016 and thanks for the encouragement!

Ipsum - welcome to the thread and goodluck for 2017!

We talk about all approaches to shopping our closet here. The commonality is none of us want to buy any bags we'll regret and none of us want our collections to grown uncontrolled.

Some people have decided not to buy anything for a while which we call going to Ban Island. Some people have chosen to be very deliberate in pausing and thinking to limit our purchases - we call that Pause Peninsula. (DC, MSD and I are just a few of the people on PP who actively deliberate over our bag choices on the thread and we get great feedback). And some people are enjoy the freedom of buying as they wish - that's Buying Beach. (Usually people on the thread run over there for a day or two and then run away again.) :lol:We recognize that there are different ways and even stages of shopping our closets as we appreciate and curate our collections. So we just have fun laughing and talking about being together on our imaginary luxe tropical locales

Don't worry about finding your black work horse. It took me almost 3 years to find mine and it was well worth the wait!!! My gold bag took me 2 years and I still haven't found my largeish workhorse after 3 years. Some bags take time because we know what we want and it just hasn't popped up yet. Just please don't buy an almost filler bag. Most of us have done it. I'm a dumb bunny whose done it more than once. But we've all regretted it.

What are your requirements for your black bag?

And since you have asked us to, we will definitely ask you the tough questions about any purchases to keep you on track. I'm the same way. I need people to push back on me hard when I think I need a bag and I really don't.
