I totally feel you; even though LV canvas is more or less safe in rainy weather its not advisable to continuously test that notion. Although like i said i use mine in rainy season I wouldn’t consciously tempt fate and use it in a downpour unless i was caught unawares.

I was just breaking in my new small black Neo in the rain last night and I wasn’t zipping in and out of it like I needed to. It was the flap for sure. My other LPs are well broken in so their flaps just flop backwards but this new one was always in the way. Now that you mention this, it may be why I’m dissatisfied today.
Once the patina has set, it’s not too bad in the rain. Lol
But yeah, I do have my reservations on taking out vachetta in the rain for water marks if it’s light.
If it’s dark already, like on my mon monogram NF, I’m okay. I won’t fret as much as with a lighter vachetta.
I’d carry my epi bags over the vachetta trimmed though.

It’s the combination of zipper and flap for me so I hardly use both unless I feel my contents need to be super secure lol. I’ll just button the flap instead of using the zipper.
I think my car shopping woes are coming to an end. We found the car and they offered the best price we’ve seen in weeks.

So true! I was Christmas shopping with friends at an outdoor outlet with heavy rains. We ran from shop to shop but we got soaked as did our bags. The rain wasn't supposed to start till very late but that is not what happened. lol

Anyone at the point of planning potential acquisitions for next year? I need a good rationale for anything I plan to purchase. Something beyond my inner 4 year old screaming "Me Want!" 
Here are my potentials. I have ZERO intention of buying all or even most of these bags.
I keep a list of potential buys to see what I actually need. I make a tick mark any time I need the bag and don't already have a suitable alternative in my closet. I added that tick mark info below.
DEFINITES
• Chanel Jumbo - Trade red caviar for red lamb. (This will be no new funds added. I expect to get one for approx. the proceeds on the other.)
• Black Fashion tote: This received 16 tick marks - well over my threshold of 6 wears per year. It's my most frustrating gap. Please Purse Gods, help me find this bag.
• Two work bags - I love my Max Mara tote. But, I'm tired of carrying it so much. I need two more non / low branded bags that look like handbags but hold a small laptop. (bordeaux and caramel) This didn't get tick marks because I can wear the Max Mara or Knomo but I need variety. The Gucci Stirrup I bought for this doesn't work for a number of reasons. But, I love it and use it in other situations so I'll happily keep it.
• Card holder: This got 17 tick marks. I have one, my pink Chanel. I bought two others this summer that I'm selling because they were impractical being metallics and / or lamb (dumb bunny me!).
I don't need a collection of card holders but I'd like to have a little variety. So I'll get a second - something cute but sturdy.
CONSIDERING
• Chanel Jumbo - Trade black patent for black lamb. I'd only consider single flap. I waffle because the patent is one of my go to's in bad weather. I wish I could have both part time. LOL! I'll see how I feel after making the red swap. (This will be no new funds added. I expect to get one for approx what the proceeds will be on the other.)
• Small black cross body w/ghw or gold crossbody: I have a lot of bags with shw. But, I've been wearing my yg jewelry more. I "sense" a need for another bag to allow for this. LOL! But I only have 3 ticks. I'm going to let this year tell me if I need this bag. I won't plan on it.
• Another Trussardi Lovy Mini - OMG! I love this bag! It's so roomy although it's mini. And, I love the style. I'd like to get another in an interesting material but it's not a need - no tick marks.
• Two small work bags / WOC: I need two small bags (black and maybe a dark, matte metallic) I can slip into my totes and use when I'm running to lunch or for work dinners when I'm traveling. Maybe Chanel reissue?? because it has to be non / low branded. I'm going to hold off as long as possible. Especially since I expect to change gears career wise in the next 12-18 months. Maybe 2019?
OPPORTUNITY BUYS
(I want and think I'll use these but don't need them. If I run across them at insanely good prices, I'd consider scooping one or two up. But, no tick marks on any of these. And, shouldn't I buy the work bags and other known need bags first??)

I can't take it anymore.
I have got to minimize selling. So, honestly, I will choose to sit on / be happy with some bags vs flipping them.
In any case, this is all I could see selling from my collection. Everything else is a definite keeper!
Other than the Chanel swap outs and potentially the Prada dzt's:
• Celine Python Edge: The love / hate continues. It's not worth anything close to what I paid. So, I need to continue to learn to love this bag. I'm wearing more and more black. That will help the love.
• Almost all my odds and ends (5 of the 7)
: these are security blankets. I don't wear them but keep them "just in case".

I completely agree. It's definitely "perfect for a given use". But, I still wonder if there could be a specific model of bag that works for 70+% of my life.
I have no clue about 2018 yet. I need to see what sells at the consignment store before I make any firm decisions. I like Sparkles approach of listing her ideas.

Your list idea works. I kept missing a zip top small light weight tote. I have many totes but only the lv closed completely. I wanted something that would hold its shape not be very large and have a decent strap drop. It had to look nice with my shiny blue Bogner puffy coat. I also wanted it to not be very expensive so that I would not be afraid to wear it in really bad weather. I looked and looked and picked up a great little ziptop at Furla in a saffaino type leather. If not for your list idea I probably would have bought three bags all of which were cute but not what I actually needed.I'm trying to stop the crazy. Just for fun what is the biggest bag you own and what is the littlest? My biggest is either my neverful or my totally and I think my littlest is a small tan coach bag. The funny thing is I really use both . How about you?

Biggest bag: Bally Bernina, which is a travel bag now. Purse wise: Neverfull MM
Smallest bag: Chanel flap or my Pochette Felicie wallet on chain. Never sure how I should be categorizing wallet on chains lol
I didn’t realize your Chanel was small. It is so chic. I think wallet on a chain should be a wallet since wallet is in the name.
My biggest is probably my custom Longchamp le Pliage large longhandle tote. It’s just slightly larger than the standard large longhandle (or maybe it just feels that way because the handles are slightly longer). Smallest is a Coach crossbody which is about the same size as a WOC. I bought it to go to an NFL game where there were very strict rules on bag size (nothing bigger than 8x5, seriously). Haven’t used it since. The smallest bag I have that does get used is a small vintage Mark Cross camera bag, barely larger than the Coach but enough larger/deeper to be somewhat functional.
