Showcase - Mulberry

Hello everyone!

Did anyone else go to the London showcase sale? What did you think?

I was lucky enough to be able to pop down on Friday 19th.

It wasn't busy and stock was good, the staff were helpful and engaging.

Everything came boxed or in dust bags which was lovely.

This is what I purchased:-

Airpod holder £25

Iris handle only in charcoal £19

Darrley satchel in charcoal £395

Means wallet £89

I went with a mini lily in mind, something crossbody, but it was too small for my phone.

I don't own an Iris bag but was struck by what a good match the charcoal handle was to the darley satchel my husband had picked up.

I was a bit undecided about the darley until I saw the iris handle, but the two together felt a bit more useable and “me”

After a bit of photoshop, I’ve ordered some O rings and my plan is to attach the Iris handle to the darley! - will update!

Buyer’s Regret

I have a few more things to add to my last advice... Sorry if it's tedious to read. Just want to be helpful.

I have to admit, life is a lot easier once you have found which metals work and which don't work with your skin tone. This way your options get narrower by default! For example, I simply can't wear any rose or pink gold. It does not suit my skin and wears me off. Yellow gold is the star of the show and white gold a decent contender. Hence I know I can't buy fine jewellery from Hermes or Chaumet, which both have little to no variety of yellow gold.

Before selling your pave VCA pieces, maybe figure out if it's really just the metal you are unsure about or the style. You mentioned you wonder if white would've worked better in white or even pink gold. So what I'm understanding is, you haven't picked out a metal for yourself then. If it's a metal issue, then have you finally realised it's yellow gold that doesn't work with your skin or wardrobe? Another important consideration, was this pave set a one off yellow gold in your fine jewellery collection or do you have other pieces in yellow gold? Take pictures of yourself in different metal jewellery, see how you look. Ask your partner, family or friends for their input. One of the metals will glow on you, I promise!

If it's the style then, I agree that tastes and preferences change. But pave jewellery will stand the test of time.

Longchamp lepliage vs Marc Jacobs The Tote bag.

Team Longchamp all the way! This is just my personal opinion, but I feel that there’s no contest. The le pliage tote has such a classic design and is one of the most versatile bags I’ve ever purchased (since my first le pliage, I blinked and somehow I own 4 now!) I first purchased a small size to use as a bag to use during travel, folded up inside my larger carry-on tote. Then I realized I could use a larger one for that very purpose! The larger bag also made a perfect uni bag, and so on. They are incredibly lightweight and durable at the same time. Their customer service and warranty are also absolutely wonderful. To be honest, I’ve never owned the Marc Jacobs tote bag. I wouldn’t ever be able to get over my tote bag saying “the tote bag”, but I do think the shape itself is very nice and I can definitely see why people like it. The book tote is stunning, but I wouldn’t be able to deal with a top-handle only tote! Especially if it got heavy. This is just my opinion though! I feel like you can’t go wrong with Longchamp!
I agree with you from beginning to end, pinkmilq.

SAs selling scratched jewelry?

Really not honest of them to try sell returned pieces. Luckily you noticed it!

It’s not right for the SA to brush off the scratches that OP pointed out and to say it was only fingerprints, but then, what do you think the boutiques would do with returned pieces? Throw them into the trash? Of course they will be resold to the next customer, especially now that pieces are harder to get and production is slow. Usually, the items cannot be worn and returned as the client cannot return when you cut off the tag.
Glad that OP didn’t buy it as VCA pieces don’t come cheap.

Are Loro piana summer charms walk loafers being discontinued?

I bought a pair of Summer Charms walks 2 yrs ago at the Chicago boutique, love them. I want to buy another pair but on the website all of the colors are listed as "Not available ". Nordstrom doesn't have any either? Has anyone been able to get ahold of a pair recently?
That's what usually happens to items bought online, they show as unavailable. Pop into a store.

Colours: Rosewater & Maple

Hi, I have seen both colours in real life side by side. Long story, but back in January I was tempted to purchase a maple mini zipped Bayswater in the sale as the boutique close to where I live was able to source one for me. When I went to pick it up I brought with me my rosewater mini zipped Bayswater just to make sure there wouldn't be too much of a duplication but the two colours - maple and rosewater - were practically identical to my eyes. The only difference was that one was in the silky calf (maple) and my rosewater bag is in the small classic grain so the two different textures offered some contrast but very little and not enough to warrant me purchasing the maple. I find on camera the maple looks more taupe on the Mulberry site but in person it definitely leans more pink, and is in fact the same colour as rosewater - I couldn't tell the difference. Dark blush is much warmer and darker than rosewater - very beautiful colour.

Colle bag medium

I'm not sure if this bag i tried on in the store i called musk or grey ? What do you think is it a good neutral colour ? Shall I choose black or this bag in college ? Please help me to decide

show me your citizen eco drive watch

I have a rolex watch I'm getting a bit tired of. tired of having to wear every day to keep running and the dial color is hard to read. thinking a citizen eco drive would be so convenient with no battery. My DH has one. He mostly just wears it a couple of hours a day and has it sitting indoors when not wearing. it never stops.
I'm considering this titanium one but need to try one. Not sure if it will fit and if not how difficult to size the bracelet

It's a great watch. I have one. I know they last years. Great brand.

Speedy 20 no strap

I'm not sure where you are located but you can try Luxe Du Jour. They are located in Irvine CA and in Canada. Also this may be counter intuitive but LV will sell you the strap that came with your bag as a "repair" part then you can turn around and sell the bag with the strap. Fashionphile has taken items from me before with no strap or accessory. They buy it from me for less with no strap.. It could be they have enough Speedy 20s with no straps now sitting on their website or they just have too many Speedy 20s at the moment regardless I know you are in hardship so buying a repair from LV may not be in your budget but I thought I would still mention it. As a repair part items are usually cheaper so I don't think it would be $800 or anything like that but I'm not positive. I sold my strap to my 20 as well.

My Revision Rhinoplasty + DES experience at ARC :)

Hi everyone,

I recently had revision rhinoplasty and primary DES surgery in Korea at ARC. Read on for my experience and I hope the information assists with your surgery planning as it’s a challenging process.

Why surgery?

I had a primary rhinoplasty in Istanbul, Turkey, which I was happy with as it made a significant difference to my appearance, but I wanted to see if it was possible to make my tip/alars a bit slimmer. I also thought since I’m coming to Korea I might as well add an extra procedure, and my asymmetric eyes bothered me.

DSC_0513.jpgIMG_8127.jpg
First image: my nose before ANY surgery
Second image: immediately after my first rhinoplasty

Why Arc?

Initially, I wanted facial contouring surgery, but after careful consideration of the risks and the extended stay in Korea it would require, I decided to postpone that procedure. I also wanted to see how much my appearance would change with just a rhinoplasty and DES. Spoiler alert: I'm quite pleased with the results so far!

I stuck with ARC because I liked their before-and-after photos, particularly for rhinoplasty and DES, which I wanted to have done at the same time. Many other users reported positive results with ARC and the reviews on Gangnam Unnie were favourable. Given that I could only stay in Korea for 10 days, I'm quite satisfied with my choice.

Other Requirements

  • I couldn’t stay in Korea for a long time so I took a gamble and picked a clinic in advance. I booked my surgery slot around a month ahead of time
  • I wanted the surgeries on the same day due to my limited time in Korea
  • I chose to visit Korea in late March as according to this forum post, it’s a fairly ideal time to visit Korea and it coincided with Easter holidays, which meant I didn’t need to use as much annual leave
Of course, if I had more time I would’ve arranged more clinic appointments and picked the most suitable one, but I’m pretty happy with the results so far.

How the day went

Note: some times are approximate as I didn’t write down all of them during the day
  1. 10AM - go to the clinic and fill in the initial survey with Daisy, change clothes and CT scans
  2. 1030AM - initial consultation with a consultant
  3. 11AM - consultation with Dr Kwon (who speaks fluent English!)
  4. 1145 - confirmation of costs and paying to proceed
  5. 1230 PM- further consultation with drawings
  6. 1PM - change into dressing and get ready for surgery
  7. ~130PM - start DES then immediately after start revision rhinoplasty
  8. ~530PM - finished surgeries (it was around 1 hour for DES, 3 hours for my revision rhinoplasty) and waiting a bit for the effects of sedation to wear off before I go head back to my accommodation
  9. 730PM - discharged from the clinic

Procedures

  • Eye:
    • Incisional ptosis correction + DES
    • epi-canthoplasty
  • Revision Rhinoplasty:
    • bridge with silicone (removal of rib cartilage),
    • tip with ear and donated rib cartilage,
    • deviation correction,
    • alar reduction
    • tip debulking

Number of Times I Visited the Clinic

  • March 29 - consultation and surgery
  • March 30 - to remove some gauze, retape my nose cast and inspect my nose and eyes
  • April 1 - nurse appointment, doctor review, retaping and deswelling treatment
  • April 3 - deswelling treatment and quick nurse review
  • April 5 - final review, stitch removal, photos and Dr Kwon did a final review and this is your last opportunity to ask him questions in person.

Pros of Arc

  1. The in-house translator, Daisy, is very helpful and sweet. She speaks fluent English and provides excellent service. For instance, she picked up my post-surgery medication while I was in surgery, anticipating that I wouldn't have time due to the long procedure. Before the consultation, she answered many of my questions on WhatsApp and even helped me find a specific drink at a convenience store when I had a reaction to antibiotic medication.
  2. The clinic employs two surgeons, eliminating concerns about ghost doctors or being treated like a factory patient.
  3. Dr Kwon is calm, fluent in English, and skilled. He didn't insist on unnecessary procedures and was able to identify a flaw in my previous nose job, which I wasn't even aware of. This was a subtle curve that was so minimal, that none of my friends noticed it when I mentioned it. Unfortunately, I also had a slight deviation in my septum, which he needed to fix and added to the cost.
  4. The clinic's location is convenient, being close to Sinnonhyeon train station. There's also a pharmacy nearby.
  5. I noticed a mix of foreign and Korean patients at the clinic.
  6. They provide a printed aftercare guide for your procedures, so there's no need to take notes when they tell you about this.
  7. They offered a discount in exchange for a review and before/after photos. This was helpful as my revision rhinoplasty was more expensive than expected due to its complexity.

Cons of Arc

  1. The ONLY one I can think of is I noticed some differences in recommendations between Dr Kwon and the consultation/nurse. For example, the nurse told me I couldn’t blow my nose for 6 months, but when I checked with Dr Kwon he said 4 weeks. Perhaps this was a translation mistake, but I’m trying to be balanced with my review

Tips

  1. Bring a notepad and pen or something to write notes down. Come with questions you have thought of in advance and ensure to write these down. Bring a photo of your desired result.
  2. If you’re coming to Korea alone (like I did), then I suggest staying close to your clinic in case you are very tired during the recovery process. I visited ARC 5/6 times when I was there.
  3. I was told by Dr Kwon I was healing quite fast compared to other patients. One recommendation I received when I previously had surgery in Turkey, was to take Bromelain and Arnica tablets. I did this a few days before and a few days post-surgery. They are meant to help with swelling and bruising.
    1. Also, I walked 10-15k steps a day minimum except for the first day post-surgery. Apparently walking helps you recover faster.
  4. I personally don’t recommend going ahead with a procedure if you want to change a minor issue - you may end up with something worse. Also, don’t expect perfect results otherwise you’ll be disappointed
  5. If you have had surgery in Turkey the overall experience is quite different. I think the techniques are better in Korea and lead to me healing faster. I didn’t need to do as much to recover from my procedures.
    1. e.g. In Turkey, I needed a saline product to wash out my nose every day - this was not needed in Korea. Additionally, I could actually breathe through my nose when this wasn’t possible for the first week in Turkey. I think that contributed to my healing process as I could actually sleep, versus in Turkey I could only sleep 2-3 hours at a time because I could not breathe through my nose.
  6. Don’t forget the TAX refund for your procedures! It may not apply to everything you get, but it’s better than nothing
  7. If you are considering getting other procedures or treatments (e.g. beauty treatments) I suggest incorporating that into your plans. For example, if you want a massage then better have that before your procedure as I wasn’t allowed to lie down.
    1. On that note, PPEUM is a popular beauty clinic with many tourists. I got masseter botox for 38,000 WON (50 units on each side). The overall experience was meh (felt like a factory), but at those prices that’s incredibly cheap compared to where I’m from.

General Korea Tips

  • They don’t really use Google Maps - Naver is quite popular. I’ve heard of a couple others, but you’ll probably need translation apps to get around if you don’t know Korean.
  • Buy Kbeauty products from Olive Young and Diaso (apparently some Kbeauty products sold by Olive Young are manufactured in the same place) - don’t buy from the random stores with apparently big discounts as products might be fake.
  • Getting to/from the airport I suggest taking either the Airport Limo Bus or AREX for cheaper options. Uber works there if you prefer to use that.
  • Restaurants are cheaper in Gangnam than in touristy places like Myeong-dong, but you may not find as many English menus.
  • I got my nails done at a place called nailhemon_gangnam. It’s a couple minutes' walk away from ARC and offers so many beautiful designs! I suggest checking them out post-surgery if you want new nails 😊
  • For tax free make sure you get to the airport with enough time before your flight. There were SO MANY people there at the kiosks.

I'm in the process of bringing all the photos together of my progress, but here's a picture at around 1.5 weeks post-surgery

AgingL Plastic Surgery Facelift?

I've heard several forumers mentioned AgingL for facelift. But did anyone actually had any works done there? Would really appreciate if you can share your experiences!

Their website/b&a looks good. Dr Kim's accolades are pretty impressive.

Chloe embossed logo fading?

My very old Chloe Marcie has it’s logo almost completely faded away 😭 I have to look very closely to see it on the top of the flap, and underneath the logo is no longer visible at all. Inside on the pocket it’s still visible. I know it doesn’t matter but I kinda like this small detail. Has anyone else had this happen and did it bother you?

Celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary with fun Collaborations and Merch!

There are very few things in life that I love more than HELLO KITTY!!! So for her 50th Birthday, let’s come together here and celebrate the lovely things we’re seeing.

(I’ve been surprised by the dearth of luxury items on offer. Please add any you run across as marketing for HK’s 50th is spotty at best.)

I’ll start out with two very inexpensive items I purchased. Previously, I purchased the Adidas x Hello Kitty sneakers which are both comfy and huge fun. So, I was surprised to see these “no name” sneakers be just as adorable and comfortable. They have a blocky retro cartoon vibe that I’m enjoying. View attachment 5987878
Next is this open front cardigan. Given how very inexpensive it was, I was thrilled to find it’s super soft. Unfortunately the smallest size is labeled small but is downright huge. Not to worry! It will be snuggly for nights at home curled up with a book. View attachment 5987882
But, then! I found this leather tote that is part of the collaboration with Cambridge Satchel. The company has a line of 10-12 bags (including satchels and backpacks) purse tags SLGa and more. This tote (which comes in 3 color ways) is the perfect size for running errands and the front panel’s gentle inward slope makes it very comfortable for over the shoulder wear. Candidly, this will be my go to bag for when I do HK cosplay at fan conventions. :giggle:View attachment 5987880View attachment 5987879
So I’m extremely happy with my first purchases in this anniversary year. View attachment 5987881
I can’t wait to see what else we can find!
I love those shoes! Where did you find the sneakers? I used to have so much Hello Kitty stuff when I was young. I'll be doing a deep dive tonight I can't wait to see what 's out there.
