I love my 2 ClFs, although tbh it was really the hat and boots that got me

It's not what we're used to seeing from H,

Except of course it is soooo H. Hermes is the messenger between worlds, here and the afterlife. The coachman and his horse of Ex-Libris is 'exposed' as Hermes on Pegasus, not in a Classical way but in a 19C gothic way, the era of the founding of H. I think it's so clever.

It takes me back to JPG and the darker undercurrents of Hermes leather (CDC anyone?) military detailing and those dark adverts featuring Friesian horses.

Anyway, I was just joining in, I own the only 2 cws that would ever suit me and I bought those before any hit the shop floor

I agree. Sometimes it's nice to see H take on darker themes. I never liked the dead animals designs, but I enjoy clever ones and this one shows a good sense of humor as well.

I attached pics of my navy France. One of my favorite of the nautical scarves, the wood detailing is superb and the color contrast - navy - yellow - brown - makes all the details pop on the navy field. You definitely see each of the hree colors, and the wood graining on the brown is very well done

It came in 4 cws :black, navy, a wine red and a vert amande - a very Hermes like shade of olive green - think dark green Spanish olives.

PS Forgot to say .. one of the few scarves with the date on it, It is on the screw, above the title (bottom center).
I love the nautical scarves and this one is so sophisticated. Thanks for sharing!!

They are supposed to be dolphins! Sometimes, they have the head of a person and the curly tail - more of a Poseidon - like look rather than a marine-mammal look. Actually a lot of the older naval HS have them

The coats of arms of the 4 ports associated with the boat are in the corners - Paris, Le Havre, NY and Southampton. The dolphins are done to look like supporters - critters on either side of armorial shields, as in the lion and unicorn on either side of the UK coat of arms.

But the same dolphins are used for all 4 corners and are there only to look like supporters - they are not in the real coats of arms , the dolphins are done just to look cool

Dearest MT, I don't know where you are located, but I wish we could have you at one of the meet-ups, to share some of your amazing collection and talk about heraldry, bird wings, and all the other wonderfully obscure stuff we all love in our vintage scarves!

Thank you for the lovely words & kind of an invite

I live in the Midwest and am going to LA this summer , I do to Detroit a lot on business, grew up in Manhattan which I know well

And next spring will probably be in Tampa

I go to SF every August for work, but have never managed to meetup with anyone there. If you popped up there from LA, I'l bet a few fans would love to meet.

Oh, please come back to NYC sometime! We could have a fun gathering.

Totally agree Papertiger and BBC! I feel much the same about the dead animal or hunting themes, but the dark humor and symbolism in ClaF entices me. (I had to stick the la in there otherwise it look like capital I to me and CIF is Comme Il Faut tango shoes in my dictionary.)
