Loving the chain-maily hexagonal thing in the middle, it seems such a great balance to the weapons ! Always great to see a fine black and brown scarf,a really good piece to have.
Thanks, frou frou. I was initially worried about the brown/bronze/gold bits, but it all comes together, as long as I'm wearing a black blouse.

Thank you so much!

Thank you! Yes, she really introduced me to the world of Hermes (I'm sure my parents were thrilled lol) but she recently moved from her home to a retirement community and instead of selling most of her collection gifted most of it to my sister and I. I'm currently out of the house but I will check on the hem! The color way is mostly white a pink border, so I"m pretty sure the hem is pink as well.

I will also open them up and put them on as well! I have two scarf rings so I'll see which configuration shows the scarf off in the best way,

Yes, the blue to the right is Armeria. It's a very cool design with a lot of intricate details. I absolutely love Hermes scarves, it is a real addiction for me, but my Grails really hold my heart! Les Poulains Is very pretty, almost similar to my Presentation de Chevaux as they're both brown-based equestrian scarves but oh so different in the actual design itself!

She does! Her go-to outfit is a neutral skirt and blouse, pair of heels, and an Hermes scarf (definitely style goals!). She has a few still in her possession that I love, her absolute favorite has a very simple design, just a bunch of squirrels but for some reason looks so chic!

Oh I love your black and gold color way! The blue and grey of mine works well as a color pop but yours is so elegant! I'm a bit of a history nerd as well so I love the sort of old-Englishy inscription in the middle.

Lovely as always!

This is such a great design and you wear it well! Congrats on getting one you love.
I have the little sister in this design [the gavroche] and I wear it often. It's really interesting to look at with all the various canes. I LOVE your collection of real canes as well....that fish one is too adorable!!

A lot of my grails are also due to an emotional attraction as well. I tend to love almost any scarf with an Oriental theme, with Siam [finally snagged one!!] and Daimyo [still waiting] being major grails for me. Also, the QM2 issue of Avant Toute that our dear Scarf1 owns is a major grail because I am in love with that beautiful ship. And C'est la Fete due to it's darkness...I am usually not into anything dealing with death or skulls but that design just spoke to me the first time I saw it...H managed to turn something that is often macabre and made it into something of beauty.
Thanks, dear BJS!! I thought you had achieved Daimyo graildom. What CW are you seeking?

BJS, Avant En Toute is our grail, also. From QM2. Our favorite ship by far. I missed it the first time. I was stupid not to have purchased it when I had the chance. We found two. An orange/green and a red/blue. Are there other colorways? I think there was a white one that I missed once because I asked the seller about the smoke from the stack and he was confused and the time ticked away and I lost it. This was years ago.

We also collect the France scarf. We have several colorways of that. The SS France became the Norway. We sailed on the Norway during her first year in 1981 for our honeymoon.

We even found found a chiffon rendering of the tapestry that hangs in the Brittania dining room. It's very pretty.

How lucky you are to have traveled on the SS France/Norway!! QM2 is the only true ocean liner I have ever had the opportunity to sail [I'm only 33 so unfortunately was born after the golden age of travel but at least we still have Mary for now!].

I was aware that H did any other ocean liner scarves? Is your one of the France by H or another brand? On QM2 last Sept there was a limited edition scarf by Chopard available and whilst lovely, it just wasn't Hermes!

No yet dear! I keep getting other things instead!! I would like the black/gold or the white/gold. I quite like the dark green one as well. There are many pretty colorways of Daimyo. I guess I haven't jumped on it yet since that is one of my few grails that is found for sale quite often.

This is what happens, I don't check eBay for a few days, and this appears!

BJS this is the same CW that I have. Good luck if you decide to bid on it!

Thanks dear!! XO

Please post your en avantoute! Scarves!

BJS, France was offered on the SS France on the ship in 1962 on her maiden voyage. They are Hermes.
We didn't buy the Chopard scarf. I can't remember why. I'm certain it didn't have anything to with the QM2. The chiffon scarf we found, is not Hermes, but QM2 related. My husband is ship crazy.
Well, Boston Jet Set. You are the same age as our son. LOL.
The Norway was the most unusual ship. Not like the cookie cutter (including QM2) ships today. It was so quirky. We loved it. After 10 years, we spent our 10th anniversary. Nothing is ever the same. How dispapppointing.
Shall I photograph the France scarves for you?

Yes, would love to see those also!

I bought the chopard scarf on qm2 last October- it was for 175 yrs of Cunard, but has multiple images of the qm2. Not quite as nice as the H scarves, but still a lovely souvenir!

YES PLEASE! I would love to see it!! :-)

As Scarf1 states below, there was a 175th Cunard Anniv. scarf by Chopard available last year. It does indeed have images of the QM2 and it is quite lovely but was more expensive than H scarves so I passed. Also, I remember the design and colors to be more feminine than my usual taste so that didn't help the cause for me.

I attached pics of my navy France. One of my favorite of the nautical scarves, the wood detailing is superb and the color contrast - navy - yellow - brown - makes all the details pop on the navy field. You definitely see each of the hree colors, and the wood graining on the brown is very well done

It came in 4 cws :black, navy, a wine red and a vert amande - a very Hermes like shade of olive green - think dark green Spanish olives.

PS Forgot to say .. one of the few scarves with the date on it, It is on the screw, above the title (bottom center).

That is very beautiful; I may be somewhat unadventurous, but I do think navy is attuned to the theme of the scarf :smile1:

Much of what worried me on the 2016/7 Autumm/winter scarves thread was the apparent lack of detailing on so many of the scarves; it is, of course, much cheaper to produce them than these classics, but I'm not enthralled by the prospect of paying quite a lot of money for them :nogood:

Marietouchet this is so wonderful! I love the sea creatures in the corner details!

They are supposed to be dolphins! Sometimes, they have the head of a person and the curly tail - more of a Poseidon - like look rather than a marine-mammal look. Actually a lot of the older naval HS have them

The coats of arms of the 4 ports associated with the boat are in the corners - Paris, Le Havre, NY and Southampton. The dolphins are done to look like supporters - critters on either side of armorial shields, as in the lion and unicorn on either side of the UK coat of arms.

But the same dolphins are used for all 4 corners and are there only to look like supporters - they are not in the real coats of arms , the dolphins are done just to look cool
