Essiedub and a few others asked to see my new Siam flat so here it is! :-). This colorway is from the 1991 reissue. The original 1978 issues I've seen seem to have sharper details in the statues which I would have preferred but I'm happy with this c/w overall.

Thanks Bostonjetset this really is cool! I bet it looks 3D in person. It's even nicer tied, as you first showed it.

I'm so extraordinarily lucky to have added to my Grail collection. Some of which are not the typical Grail, but are to me because they were gifts from my Aunt as she downsized her collection and I will treasure them forever. When last I posted in this thread I had just purchased Beverly Hills a Hermes, but I'm so excited to also add (left to right) Les Cles, Bolduc, Les Poulains, Presentation de Chevaux, and Armeria! Les Poulains is the most recent addition, authenticated by the always wonderful Marietouchet and it arrived today! I'd love to also add a few more but if I don't, I am so happy with this! Thank you for letting me share :smile1:

Oh neat! hermes_obsessed what great gifts from your aunt! If you have the time, perhaps you could post these fully open, or better yet, modeled! I don't think I'm familiar with Les Poulains or Armeria. They must be very rare. Does this Les Cles have purple with a darker beige/taupe border..think I have the same one and it's a great neutral!

Beautiful additions and all the more so having been given to you by your Aunt .You have such an interesting collection there, Les Poulains is a real collectors piece, highly sort after and so chic. I love the blue on the right, is that Armeria?
Not a design I know so would love to see more of it, and yours too Momasaurus!

So wonderful to be given scarves with a family history. You aunt must have a great collection!

H silk is so sturdy you may be able to pass them on in turn.

Thank you!! :smile1:

Yes I love it!! Armeria was one of my Aunt's favorites and it is the most "loved" shall we say. Is Armeria a typical Grail? I only included it because I know it was one of her favorites and is now one of mine.

Don't have any pictures, mostly because I forget to take them but I will definitely try to remember the next time I take one out!
I don't think Armeria is a grail, except for nerdy history buffs (raising my hand!), but it's rare. Here's an old pic:

I'm so happy to be able to cross one more grail off my list! I've wanted Les Cannes ever since I saw it A couple of years ago. Not just because I love the design, but because of the subject matter. My dear father-in-law collected antique canes, and when he passed away, my husband inherited them. So this scarf will have a very special place in my heart.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1462293022.957658.jpg
Here are some of the canes we have.

Also, I'll add that this was from the same vendor as that awful Turandot. I was a little apprehensive because they rated this a seven in terms of condition and Turandot was initially a six. However, the condition of this scarf is truly excellent - no fading or discoloration, the silk is still very crisp and the hems are round. I'm quite pleased.

I find that many of the designs I most respond to and end up as grails are ones that strike an emotional chord. Do any of you feel the same? If so, I'm interested to know what designs and why?

How beautiful! Congratulations and thank you for sharing. I agree that the sweetest grails have sentimental value.

Completely fabulous, the purple glow against your flawless skin.
This is a really good example of a scarf that ties a million times better than expected!

Beautiful just beautiful!!!

Thank you so much!

Thank you! Yes, she really introduced me to the world of Hermes (I'm sure my parents were thrilled lol) but she recently moved from her home to a retirement community and instead of selling most of her collection gifted most of it to my sister and I. I'm currently out of the house but I will check on the hem! The color way is mostly white a pink border, so I"m pretty sure the hem is pink as well.

I will also open them up and put them on as well! I have two scarf rings so I'll see which configuration shows the scarf off in the best way,

Yes, the blue to the right is Armeria. It's a very cool design with a lot of intricate details. I absolutely love Hermes scarves, it is a real addiction for me, but my Grails really hold my heart! Les Poulains Is very pretty, almost similar to my Presentation de Chevaux as they're both brown-based equestrian scarves but oh so different in the actual design itself!

So wonderful to be given scarves with a family history. You aunt must have a great collection!

H silk is so sturdy you may be able to pass them on in turn.

She does! Her go-to outfit is a neutral skirt and blouse, pair of heels, and an Hermes scarf (definitely style goals!). She has a few still in her possession that I love, her absolute favorite has a very simple design, just a bunch of squirrels but for some reason looks so chic!

I don't think Armeria is a grail, except for nerdy history buffs (raising my hand!), but it's rare. Here's an old pic:

Oh I love your black and gold color way! The blue and grey of mine works well as a color pop but yours is so elegant! I'm a bit of a history nerd as well so I love the sort of old-Englishy inscription in the middle.

This is such a great design and you wear it well! Congrats on getting one you love.
I have the little sister in this design [the gavroche] and I wear it often. It's really interesting to look at with all the various canes. I LOVE your collection of real canes as well....that fish one is too adorable!!

A lot of my grails are also due to an emotional attraction as well. I tend to love almost any scarf with an Oriental theme, with Siam [finally snagged one!!] and Daimyo [still waiting] being major grails for me. Also, the QM2 issue of Avant Toute that our dear Scarf1 owns is a major grail because I am in love with that beautiful ship. And C'est la Fete due to it's darkness...I am usually not into anything dealing with death or skulls but that design just spoke to me the first time I saw it...H managed to turn something that is often macabre and made it into something of beauty.

I just saw your Grail, the QM2 of avant toute on the *bay . It really is lovely. Here's the link ...

I already found it thanks to another TPFer but thank you for thinking of me!
What a coincidence that I JUST mentioned it this evening.
BJS, Avant En Toute is our grail, also. From QM2. Our favorite ship by far. I missed it the first time. I was stupid not to have purchased it when I had the chance. We found two. An orange/green and a red/blue. Are there other colorways? I think there was a white one that I missed once because I asked the seller about the smoke from the stack and he was confused and the time ticked away and I lost it. This was years ago.

We also collect the France scarf. We have several colorways of that. The SS France became the Norway. We sailed on the Norway during her first year in 1981 for our honeymoon.

We even found found a chiffon rendering of the tapestry that hangs in the Brittania dining room. It's very pretty.
