thank you so much for your pictures. It is a truly stunning piece of wearable art. Also love that double collared blouse.
So I went to bed, then to work. After work, your pics in mind, I went to ebay in order to do something very stupid :graucho:. But it was already sold. I am half sad half glad about it: After all, it is a lot of money for "a piece of silk". Who am I kidding, I already regret not being the one who bought it...

So, here is my consolation: Printemps de Thera. A scarf that was on my wishlist for a long time, since I have a connection to Minoan culture and already having spent a vacation at Santorini (also called Thera). HermesHope might like this one!

But I was skeptic about the CW, yellow face with red eye... When it came as an auction I won it at a rather good price (about half retail). Now I am happy to have it. Freshly washed and ironed (found some undisclosed faint stains doing so). And see how well the yellow matches my Wolfskin back bag? I should crosspost these to the "How to casually wear a carre"-thread ;).
Wow, as much as I love that CW of exLenK, that was too pricy for me.

And I love your new scarf! And not one I had seen before! That's what I love about the H scarf designs!
So much variety and the history and thinking that is the back story. Congrats!

Oh, oh, oh! HoneyLocks, you are right! I love this. I did bid on one a while ago, but the eventual price was beyond me. I have never been to Thera, but did spend some time in Crete many years ago and love Minoan art.

That was one very unique scarf and how you tie it so freely to fit your life style is just perfect. Congrats!

I bought my first ELeK a while back with some blemishes so the price wasn't too crazy, though still above retail price. And I managed to somehow make a long pull on it pretty much as soon as I received it, so that glow of a grail vanished quite quickly. I was a bit upset for a little while but then it turned into such a big relief. Since it's nowhere close to being pristine, I actually got a lot of use out of it. And it's now my go-to scarf when I want to try new ideas of knotting, which possibly requires some not-so-gentle twisting or squeezing through the ring. I can also wear it anywhere even to a beach, to a nursery, to a kids' birthday party. I really come to appreciate it a lot more and see the beauty of it. I actually didn't quite like the cw when I first received it, but it has worked so well once I let go the fear of damaging it and tried all possibilities. It's now truly one of my favorite scarves. I wish I could feel so comfortable with all my scarves. :wondering

What a funny story. It reminds us that these babies are made to be worn. Thanks for sharing.

See, I knew you will like that.
We share quite some things: twins on some scarves, similar hair and skin coloration, love for books and Greek/Mediterranean art/mythology IIRC. And some more, I suppose...

Oh, my lifestyle. sometimes I think I am the least elegant person in this forum. But it does not matter as long as I appreciate my life. And the scarves add a lot of fun.

I really like your ELeK-Story. I get these beauties to be worn and if they are a bit battered it gets easier. At the beginning of my Hermes-journey I read all of "How to casually wear a Carre". That thread was so inspiring and helpful. I was worried I might look frumpy/matronly, since I wear my long hair often in a braid or an updo, neither very youthful looks. But that thread made me relax: Chestnutty wrote "you may forget that at the end of the day, H scarf is just another scarf".
These things exist for me, not the other way round. Poor silks that come into my household: they have to work, get hand washed, wrinkled, care tag removed, and most importantly: get to see a lot of the world. :smile1:
So I do not mind if a preloved scarf is not pristine (as long as it is declared and the price is appropriate). I repair pulls as good as possible. I am quite good at diminishing stains myself. And by removing the care tag I think they are "truly mine":  less perfect, more me ;). I got "Les Becanes" in a bad condition, but for only 80€, but bicycles :-). Same carefree feeling you write about. Love that!
And when I noticed I did not put on my grailiest most precious "Mythiques Phoenix" because I was scared somethin might happen to it I got a backup.
Nice to know others feel alike. :hugs:

One day, a preloved, somewhat abused, nicely priced ELeK in this CW will find its way to me, the scarf fairy will take care of that.

Grail alert: neutral femme aux semelles du vent

LOL, grail alert :p Just imagine the knights of the round table, one of them looking up from the scrolls yelling "Grail alert".
I wonder how high it will raise. Too bad, thankfully, not my CW, black is too funeral-like for me.

Papertiger, I happen to be a CLF lover (this scarf was what started my H obsession[emoji15])! May I ask how you know this might be coming next season?? I've been hoping they would reissue this in other formats!! If this is true, then I need to do more than water my money tree, but get to fertilizing that puppy!! Lol [emoji16]

Someone said somewhere in one of the threads (prob AW16 scarves (?)) :thinkin:

It wasn't from my scarf SA anyway

Great attitude and I totally agree! I happily buy vintage scarves that are just a little bit beat up. Whew! No worries for me, then. I am also getting that way with H bags. I don't want to be afraid of my stuff! I remember quite a while back someone mentioned her favorite CSGM that had been everywhere and had baby spit-up and wine stains and whatnot. I just loved that story.

I'm so sorry for you HoneyLocks, it was me... I made an offer (400GBP) Monday evening and the seller agreed Thuesday.
This design mades me so mad that I lose the reason!
It is for me one of the H best designs with "Le voyage de Pytheas" and "Dans un jardin anglais" (and "Under the waves" mousselines).

I don't know if it interests you but there is another Ex Libris en Kimonos newly available on Ebay:

Have a nice day,

I'm a newbie to Hermes scarfs, and I don't have an individual 'Grail' scarf. I do have the desire to own the jaquard silk scarves, and they are all vintage.

My latest acquisition is Les Fetes du Roi Soliel, and I am a very happy bunny :smile1:

Please post a picture of your last acquisition!

Do you know that there are two jacquard silk scarves in the spring/summer 2016 collection? Those are Jungle love and Flamingo party, with jacquard bees. There are some pictures in the spring 2016 scarves thread...

I will indeed, once it arrives :smile1:

Thank you for the info on Jungle Love and Flamingo party; I hadn't seen these on the UK Hermes site, and they are still elusive. I'm not sure that Hermes were marketing 90cm silk versions here in the UK, but I will keep searching :wondering
