This is, indeed, an interesting discussion. [BTW, I'm so jealous that you lived in India...it has been on my bucket list of places to visit for sooooo long but life always ends up taking me somewhere else LOL]. The India-themed scarves are almost all lovely so you have a great list of grails to choose from!!

Hi BJS! You must find a way to get there. The hardest part may be finding enough time to put together. You really need a minimum of 3 weeks, and that would be rushed. You could also break it down into several trips. It's so far away, I know how hard it is believe me. I'm not sure I'd have ever made it there but for work. I've lived in some pretty incredible places, but I think India takes the cake; for so many reasons. The India themed scarves are all fabulous. So I had to choose my absolute favorites. I'm down to only two left! Not bad.

Really new to the forum but wanted to share my Grail scarves to-date :smile1:

I fell in love with the Petit Duc scarf last March when i tried it on in the store and the colours just seemed to go so well with my skin tone and hair colour. The touch of mustard and grey is just amazing on the silk. it's a great piece of wear in place of a necklace!

This year when i visited France again, I got the cashmere scarf from their latest Collection Imperiale. I fell in love with the floral motif and chose it over the Tyger scarf. Little did I know that the motif had a strong link to the Imperial Ming collection, which was great since i'm Asian ;)

My friends think i'm crazy shelling out this money for a scarf, but I think its worth every penny!

Welcome plovesh! These are both absolutely beautiful! I'd never looked carefully at the Petit Duc. Love it. The cw of Collections you chose is so very pretty. :tender:

My grails have evolved a lot since the beginning of my addiction, can you believe I let go one Zaba, one Cave Felem and one Noël au 24.... I think grails are unique to each of us and mine are with me now...so I am happy ... Les pegases

That is a fantastic shot!

Beautiful Pocketbook Pup, as ever. Are we saving Gris T for Spring? It's perfect with Colvert too, you've really got a knack for coordinating things my dear.

Erm, :shame: make that three more.

Considering those of you with lovely, grail -filled collections, what are some of the most iconic Hermes patterns?
I immediately think of brides de gala, ex libris, and les cles.
What would be considered "must haves"?

I'll echo others—that's a great question. While the answers might or might not align with a "grail" scarf, I'd throw out that almost anything designed by Clerc is iconic. Less so, perhaps, for designs by Dumas, but it can occasionally be the same.

A grail hits the heart with unwavering directness. Like Pirula, many of my grails are India themed (and like Pirula, because of my time living there). I'll post one . . . Chale Damier from the 2008 collection. I waited to find this for seven years and received it just a couple weeks ago finally.

Okay, I need to post two! Also from 2008 and The Year of India, the Jamdani shawl... This weaving technique is highly skilled and is classified as a great heritage tradition by UNESCO. It took me six years to find my two pieces. This is the ivory one with gold jamdani embroidery.

That ivory shawl is so special! Never let it go!

Both are exquisite.

No, I have been on a little quest lately to get my grails out of the way so I stop looking at eBay out of curiosity. Last week I received turandot and ex Libris en kimonos. I bought les triples a few weeks ago. Something else came in the mail today. I have one more in the works and two still on my wishlist and not anywhere to be found. I thought I had a printemps ete 69 last week but the store made a mistake and it was already sold. I'm not sure that I would really label them all grails but things I saved over the past year thinking they were nice and I kept coming back to them in my mind. It was a longer list but I definitely looked hard and decided which ones I wanted the most. Here are the ones I received already.

Arabesques, I just sent you a pm, when you have time. Thanks!

This is such a beautiful sentiment! I can't believe you waited seven years for your grail--you must have been so excited to finally receive it!

Hi. I'm into this conversation a bit late.
I started collecting scarves because I let a very limited scarf go unpurchased. We were aboard the Queen Mary 2 and they were selling En Avante Toute in the Hermès boutique on the ship.
I didn't buy it. I thought it was too much money.
The next trip no En Avante Toute. I bought some stupid consolation prize.
We scoured eBay for years and finally found one. Then a few years after that, H reissued it without the QM2 on the stack. Just not the same and boring colorways.
We found one again on eBay later in a different colorway. So, we did get what we wanted, at quite the premium.
When I was collecting, designs would hit me. And, I enjoyed catching special editions when I heard about them.
I abruptly stopped buying anything after the crazy stupid silk price increases when 90s shot up from $375 to well over $400. This was years ago. It looks like prices have come back to sanity.
But for another QM2 colorway...

The QM2 scarf was what started me with Hermes. I feel so lucky to have found one just a few months after I started looking. pLease post a pic of your QM2 scarf!
