My first LV was just the simple Pochette in monogram. It was in 2002 when I was 21 years old and I remember being so excited to finally own an LV piece! I still have that pochette, although I don't use it. My daughter now "uses" (plays with) it.

2005, my first trip to London when I was 28 years old, went to Harrods and got my first Louis Vuitton, Popincourt Haut....still have it, love how light it is. It was only about £450 and I got some VAT refund back. That's my one and only Monogram canvas bag.

Me and the sis are trying to figure out if the pop haut ever had a ring up top(I'm assuming for a pochette?) like the batignoles. Neither of ours have one,but we've seen several that have them. All see to have a 2005 date....Anyone know for sure??

I didn't even become interested in bags until my children were grown and out on their own. My first LV was a keepall 45 which I still have and love. The patina is perfect. I didn't purchase another LV until I was 63! I started building my collection of Chanel and Hermes and a few others. My first LV bag was purchased last year and I've added 2 more this year along with several slg's. If you have saved up for a NF, have wanted one for a year and will not go into debt if you purchase it, go for it......you won't regret it.
Nice story. I am 53 y.o., I am Italian, I've always loved Lv Brand and bags But never had the chance and the luck of purchasing one. My fear is to spend such a huge amount of Money into just one item... Now I m totally in love with New Tuileries Hobo collection, But I Heard so many complaints about Quality and issues and I am wondering if this bag is Worth the Price or if I should instead go with a preloved vintage bag, just to start My Vuitton experience....any advice pls?

I bought my first LV back in the 90's. The bag I thought was my first was a fake off of the Bay. I took it to Neiman Marcus two hours away as we had no LV store near me, to ask them if it was a fake, as I had my doubts as soon as I opened the package. The saleslady told me that they could not authenticate (I was very naive back then) but she quietly shook her head and with that she verified that my bag was fake. I was heartbroken but wanted a real LV so badly so I bought a Cabas Piano on the spot. My daughter, who was 4 or 5, was with me. I remember telling her "If you tell your dad how much I paid for this bag, I will have to kill you." Probably not the best thing to say in front of the sales staff!

August 2015 I graduated nursing school, passed the state boards, and landed a one year fellowship with job offer after. With some graduation money and a Nordstrom's gift card I purchased the lovely neverfull mm in Damier ebene I've been craving and seeing everywhere for years.
The start of a wonderful addiction! Have since purchased the cluny bb epi in dune and now currently saving for either the alma bb amarante or speedy b 25 mon monogram for my birthday[emoji4]

I'm curious what made you decide and when did you decide to get your first ever LV bag

A little about my own struggle right now: I have been lusting over the Neverfull for almost a year now. I really want to purchase one for myself and I have saved up enough money for it, but I somehow feel bad for having the thought of wanting such an expensive bag because I'm still a college kid... but that is just what I personally feel like  I would love to hear your first LV stories!

I don't think you should feel bad that just because you're in college you shouldn't buy this bag. I'm an adult student going back to college who's still working and I'm in the same situation. I've saved for this the past year and it's a gift to myself for choosing to work and go to school at the same time. Regardless it's a very useful bag for you now and will continue to be so. While I'm sure you're taking on student loan debt as long as you have money to pay your bills and costs of living do it!

I've saved up a couple times for a LV bag, but could just never pull the trigger. This year I decided to go back to school while still working full-time and I'll be 30 so I felt like it's now or not for a few years lol. I know that I'll eventually be going to school only and not working as much so literally if I wanted to do it it needed to be now. I purchased a Neverfull Damier Ebene GM (which I'll hopefully get soon in the mail) and a Key Pouch in Empreinte Noir which I just received today! Totes in LOVE. When I have both I'll definitely take a pic and post it! Excited to not be a "lurker" on here anymore lol

My story is kind of interesting and unique in the sense that getting a LV is a family tradition:
During the mid 1950's my grandpa went to France for business and brought back a Speedy for my grandma as a gift. She loved that bag so much (after 60+ years of service my grandma's Speedy was buried with her) that she decided that each of her daughters (my mom and aunt) should have one of their own when they "became women"...my aunt received her classic Speedy in the early 1970's and my mom chose a French Company version in the late 1970's. They, after falling in love like my grandma did, decided to make it a tradition and in 1998 I went into LV with all of the women in my family and received my very own Speedy 30 (at the age of 11). About a year and a half later my cousin received hers.

My husband at first said he would never purchase lv. I would show him different styles and take him into lv stores. He wouldn't budge. Haha. Then after the birth of our second child he surprise took me to the lv store in Edinburgh. I had been showing him bags by faure le page and liberty coated canvas as a mom of 2 bag. They at first pulled out the neverfull. It just felt like a void to me. They showed me the totally and I loved it. I forsaw after a baby bag it would be great for travelling. We moved away from the uk last year. 6 weeks after the birth of our second and I hauled all his junk and mine in it. Now we just bought our second lv piece. My husband is a convert and actually chose the Louis Vuitton bag over another brand.

Love this what a great story. If you have girls now/ in the future will you continue the tradition? My OH thinks my 11 year old having a Michael Kors is extreme I don't think he'll let me take them to get LV!!

I "inherited" my mom's Speedy when I was in college. I didn't really did "handbags" at the time. They didn't go with the punk-goth-new romantic vibes of the time. So I used it for travelling and carrying books and stuff (such as my trusty DMs) around until I completely destroyed it I have to admit.

Once upon a time, a little more than ten years ago, I was researching Kooba bags for a trip to the UK and found an entire forum FULL of people like me, people who loved handbags. I knew absolutely nothing about LV, so I sauntered into the LV section and made an obnoxious post that included the statement "$1k+ for a bag that isn't even leather? That's crazy! This is plastic-coated canvas, right? Isn't it yucky and stiff...?"

Those nice people schooled me patiently. I learned about the history, the different styles and shapes and colors, and how they are lightweight and mostly-indestructible. When I went to London, I came back with a Damier Speedy 25. I love and use bags from other designers, I've bought and sold maybe a dozen LVs, but I still have that first Speedy.
