2005, my first trip to London when I was 28 years old, went to Harrods and got my first Louis Vuitton, Popincourt Haut....still have it, love how light it is. It was only about £450 and I got some VAT refund back. That's my one and only Monogram canvas bag.

Poppincourt Haut was also my first LV purchased in 2005 from LV Sloane Street, London. At the time I didn't really know much about vachetta and patina and just enjoyed using the bag. Two years later I bought my first damier ebene pieces. These were Damier Speedy 30, Saleya PM and de Pochette Accessoires. I have bought and sold many LV's over the years, but I still have my de Pochette.

I used my first LV as an incentive for weight loss. I decided I wanted a Speedy in DE, and after I lost 50 pounds I went and picked out a 35. I kept it locked away until I hit my -75lb goal before I finally allowed myself to use it.

My second LV was my 100lb loss incentive... It's a zippy compact wallet with "100" hot stamped on the inside.

Wow, she looks great! Makes me regret selling mine. LV don't make many mono shoulder bags that zip and this was so easy to carry. I can't remember exactly when I bought mine, maybe it was also 2006 then

My aunt had hers earlier, it was a replacement for a Vernis bag that discoloured. I was admiring hers for a while before I bought mine. So you could possibly purchase yours in 2005. Yes, Popincourt Haut is so easy to carry, although not as roomy as the Totally but at least the piping is thicker and sturdier, unlike the 'rolled' piping.

I just remembered it had the two little gold balls I think on the zipper pull, I loved that extra detail!

TiffanyBlue, I'm also brand new to this forum, have always loved purses, but a big splurge has been for a Coach or Michaels Kors ...and now I'm looking to buy my very first Louis Vuitton bag. And 1986 was my first year in college . I haven't started selling anything on eBay yet, but haven't bought a bag in two years... I told my husband, that has to be at least enough enough saved for an LV Speedy! The classic Mono Speedy 30 is my choice, I think. I'm planning on visiting a store this week to try the 30 and 35.
the speedy is a great first bag. good luck!!!

my first was just 4 years ago (and i am 46 :) a new co worker a couple years before had two louis vuittons. i was a "coach" girl, but after me getting a new bag every year (and the canvas on the signature coach bags showing so much wear), i was amazed how her bags never seemed to age!!! so, i started lusting after one. she had the mono neverfull and i didn't want to seem like a creepy stalker, so i put the neverfull de on my christmas list. :) my sweet hubby has since gifted me a new LV every year. my collection is small, just 4 strong, but oh how i love them!!!

I got my first LV bag today, a vintage speedy 25. A lovely woman was selling it on a Facebook group. I wasn't really into the speedy but this one in particular caught my attention due to its age and look (being made in 1984), and that the woman was also including a shoulder strap along with charms. Today I went to pick it up and while I was on my way, the woman while trying to close the bag broke the zipper off! I said no big deal would she be able to knock a bit of money off and she did. When we met up she was telling me the story of this bag and how much it meant to her and how it was her first LV bag and how much luck it had brought her. When I saw how beautiful the bag looked with its age and in the sunlight, I bought it, telling myself I'll sort out the zipper thing later. On my way back home I stop by the LV store, drop the bag off, and my SA says for the replacement of the zipper and the zipper tab its going to take 8 weeks... I'm usually super impatient but with this bag in particular, waiting is no problem at all... When I get it back I'm going to get it heat stamped with my initials along with a small luggage tag also with my initials and that will be the end of the facelift <3

the speedy is a great first bag. good luck!!!

I've had her for two weeks now, and I agree!
I found a preloved mono 30 in great shape and with a beautiful honey patina. She was made in France the same year as my 11 year old son... :)

Here are some pictures, I haven't had a chance to take any myself yet. I can't believe this is an 11 year old bag, and I can't believe I waited this long.
