Your First LV bag Story

I bought my first LV when I was 23 (in 2012). I had already developed a love for purses and slowly transitioned from Juicy Couture while I was in college to a patent leather black Dooney & Bourke bag and then finally a silver metallic Coach bag. (That was expensive to me at the time). Then, one day I saw a youtube video from a beauty guru who had received a Cosmetic Pouch GM in Damier Ebene as a gift and it was love at first sight!!:loveeyes::loveeyes::loveeyes: After seeing that video, I found the LV.com website and began looking for hours at all the different bags. I fell in love with the speedy 30 in DE too. I knew I was going to bootcamp soon and decided that I would buy the Speedy B 30 and the Cosmetic GM as a gift to myself after I'd graduated :smartass:. You earn money but can't spend money while in bootcamp so I felt that it was an easy way to save for it . Long story short, I bought them! But, I ended up feeling the speedy B30 was too big and I exchanged it for the Neverfull MM DE instead (which was significantly cheaper back then too! The neverfull was $850 vs Speedy B30 was $1250ish). I did buy the Cosmetic GM also but I never used it much and ended up selling it. I do regret selling it especially since I now realize that it was what sparked my love for LV. I also wish Neverfulls were still $850! lol

I didn't get my first LV until I was about 30 years old. I too loved Jessica Simpson's LV Speedy bags and wanted one for a number of years. I eventually got a monogram Speedy 35, which I owned for a while, but sold because it was on the big side.

I got my first LV bag at the Bal Harbour LV in Miami when I was on a vacation. I recently went back to that mall and that LV store is no longer there, though they do have one in a department store.

I used to be all about monogram, but I now shy away from it because vachetta makes me nervous.

Now I mostly have a Damier Ebene collection, it's so much more carefree.

I'm with the above poster, wish the Neverfull was still $850. I purchased one in 2012 for around that price.
Me too wish NF was still $850!! I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!

My love for bags started long long ago. However my love for LV started when I saw Angelina Jolie carrying this big beautiful monogram bag which I thought was the Neverfull at that time. I obsessed over the Neverfull, found Purseforum while Google ing Neverfull and looked at the beautiful reveals of all things LV. I shared this love of luxury bags with one of my very best friends who was lucky enough to own a couple of LV. She bought a Damier Speedy 30 and I knew then - sight unseen - that my Holy grail was the Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene Neverfull GM. Fast forward to 2013 and my now hubby conspired with her to get me my Holy Grail. (Well he says he provided the funding, my friend did the legwork (: .. She searched high and low to find one of the last LV old style lining DE GM NF and had it shipped from Alberta to Toronto for him to present it to me (it was a very hilarious reveal). My friend passed away almost a year later in an accident living life every single day of her 25 years. I have since bought a luggage tag and heat stamped it with an "F" - the alphabet of both her first name and mine .... needless to say LV holds a very special place in my heart .
Wow, what a touching story! Thank you so much for sharing!:heart:

Cute thread. My first was because the iPhone 6 came out and I needed a bigger wristlet than what fit my iphone5. I discovered the Milla pochette online. I went into the boutique and walked out with a NF MM DE. Total impulse buy. They didn't have a Milla so I ordered it. That started my obsession with LV. I had never liked or noticed them before.

A handbag lover, but not a luxe buyer, I had decided to buy my sister an LV for her 40th b-day and thus I began my research on the brand. In NYC, while looking for the Coach store in Soho, I took a wrong turn and ended up at LV. I was warmly welcomed and treated amazingly by the SA and I decided to "treat myself to one high end but practical bag and I'd never need another one," the Neverfull MM DE. HA! I laugh at how naive I was. This was July 2015 and I now own 9 LV bags and numerous accessories. Oh, and my sister owns a couple LVs courtesy of her big sis.

In high school, many of my schoolmates had luxe bags, a lot of Gucci. One girl had a monogrammed LV speedy and I've been in love with them ever since! That was 1986! I don't have bunches of money, so I've just purchased LV inspired bags since then, most of them Coach. you know, dark brown body, tan handles. Many bags into it, i realized i really still wanted an LV. I have thinned down the coach collection considerably, and with the items I'm selling on eBay, I've started my speedy fund. I know i want the classic monogram, going to spring for the "B" and I'll test drive 30 & 35 before making the decision. I think (hope) this cures the too many handbags obsession lol.!!

Haha i love this, it truly is an addiction. After each new purchase I always tell myself that I'm done, my collection is complete... Then somehow, several new things appear on my wishlist and so the cycle continues

TiffanyBlue, I'm also brand new to this forum, have always loved purses, but a big splurge has been for a Coach or Michaels Kors ...and now I'm looking to buy my very first Louis Vuitton bag. And 1986 was my first year in college :). I haven't started selling anything on eBay yet, but haven't bought a bag in two years... I told my husband, that has to be at least enough enough saved for an LV Speedy! The classic Mono Speedy 30 is my choice, I think. I'm planning on visiting a store this week to try the 30 and 35.

TrixyG: I'm SOOO excited for you!!!! I was a sophomore in HS in '86. We've been waiting far too long! 2 years is impressive. I'm really hoping an LV will keep the buying beast at bay. Ebay is a great place to sell stuff, even though they take 10%. Plus PayPal fees. I feel it's an easy way for me to track what I've sold, and then therefore, what's in the LV kitty. Post pix of what you get!!

I bought my first LV this year, before I turned 26. I went back and forth between the Neverfull, Speedy B, and Totally. I was pretty sure I was getting the Totally MM but during this time the Neverfull DE with Rose Ballerine interior was released and I completely caved. Originally I had planned to purchase my first LV for my birthday, but I ended up getting it a few months earlier.

Absolutely no regrets!! If I could have afforded an LV in college, I totally would have done it. If you can, go for it! You won't regret it, and if you do.. well the Neverfull can be re-sold pretty easily.

I got a raise and promotion, so I thought of buying a Neverfull mono which I liked for a long time. I went on internet, digged information then I found this purseforum. When I read Neverfull topics, there are many people mention Speedy, dilemma between Speedy and Neverfull make me curious and after I saw the pictures of Speedy, I liked it a lot. I consider that it fit my style more than Neverfull. So from searching about Neverfull, I move 100% to search for Speedy. Finally I went to the store, tried on both and bought the speedy.

What size Speedy, may I ask? :)

I bought my first LV as s gift for myself when I graduated college. I had been into coach before that, but had been lusting for an LV Damier azure speedy for awhile but was in sticker shock at the then, $550 price point (back in 2007) being a college student. so when I finished student teaching I decided to purchase it for myself! I always worked almost full time while in college so I just put money aside until I had enough :)
