Your first Hermes item

My first Hermes purchase was a scarf at George V in Paris 2009. The “Passementerie” in bright green that I still have to this day. It was my first introduction to Hermes on a trip to France with Mom. I walked in the boutique and was just blown away; By the beautiful scarves, by the friendly SAs, by the whole experience in general. Even blown away by the old school elevator in our hotel (wearing the new scarf). Didn’t purchase anything from H for many years until 2020. It was great to come back

My first purchase was an MM Rodeo! I was sooo excited to have an H item, especially a coveted charm. Looking back, that thing was HUGE! I put it on everything though!

Here she is back in the day on a Neverfull. This was before I ever dreamed of owning an H bag!

Not counting the ties and scarves I purchased as gifts, the first Hermes item I bought for myself was this 70cm scarf. I purchased it at Sèvres with my now husband on one of our first vacations together, over 12-13 years ago. I honestly don’t remember why or how I chose this particular print. I do remember seeing the Picotins on display and wondering why people would pay $2000 for such a small, plain-looking purse! (Funny because I paid more than that for one recently lol) It sat in the box for many years until recently when I wore it on a trip back to Paris!

That was actually the only purchase for many years until Dec 2019 (right before……) when I walked into the boutique with no profile and bought a noir Evelyne 29 and a zigzag strap…and down the orange chute I went!

Fun! Yesterday I posted a current picture of my Gold Evelyne 29 in the H in Action Thread captioned Five Januarys Ago.



This Evelyne holds a special place in my 🧡. I deeply believed it would be my first and only H purchase - as did my late beloved cat during the unboxing at home.



But, similar to many other forum members, the addiction quickly escalated. And a week after the initial purchase…

Exactly one year ago, I purchased the Sur Mon Nuage twilly for a colleague, an Hermes lover, who was retiring. I fell in love with Hermes from that point forward.

I saw the twilly and fell in love with the full scarf, which is now on display in my kids' room!

To stay on topic, my first H purchase was a K28 in anemone. Oh the good old days where pre-spend wasn't a huge thing...

My first H item was a 32mm reversible belt in Vert-de-Gris / Blanc with a Palladium H buckle with lacquer in Gris Asphalte and Noir. In the same purchase was 2 Avalon wash cloths in Bleu Glacier!

My first purchase from Hermes was a silk tie for my dad! Maybe about 10-12 years ago. I had just got my job and I saved up to buy it for him. I bought him so many over the years, in various patterns and colors. I lost him a few years ago and found out he kept every tie and box.

My first H purchase was an orange, possibly chèvre, Azap wallet, sometime in the 90s. I still have it tucked away somewhere, but it was an absolute workhorse and has been well and truly retired from service!

My first bag order was my rouge H K28 sellier in the early 2000s. While I was waiting for that to arrive I acquired a gold Evelyne amongst other things, but as I think I've said on another thread somewhere, I think of the Kelly as my first H bag.

My first Hermès items some 40+ years ago were a saddle and a bridle. I no longer ride, so about 8 years ago I donated them to a riding school that works with special-needs children and adults. 🐎 I still linger over the equestrian section of the boutique when I shop! 🐴

My first purchase was in 2010, a 70cm cotton Jungle Love scarf, and yes I still have it and love it! Started the slippery slope of collecting scarves and the print is still my favourite.
