Would you purchase a 2nd hand/used LV?

I bought 3 bags recently preloved, all of which do not have vachetta - two epi leathers and one damier canvas. Considering I saved about $2300 and all of the bags were in superb condition, I'm extremely happy!

Couldn't agree more. Buying used in good condition is the fastest way to building up a LV collection for people just getting started; and you can save a fortune. The time is getting close where businesses like Fashionphile (that I used), are going to be more and more in demand. We are fast getting to the point where the price increases are really going to hurt a lot of LV collectors. With the prices of new purses about to soar they become investment pieces and the used market is going to capitalize on this.

No, for bags, wallets and luggage.

Yes, for accessories like astropill and cles.

I think part of the premium is the satisfaction that you get when you walk out of the store with a big box on hand ... And I like my bags fresh. Am too picky

I voted 'yes'. Every LV I've purchased was preowned. Ironically, the one purse purchase regret I have was buying a brand new Marc Jacobs hobo, three years ago, at Neiman for full retail. The bag is too heavy (even without my stuff in it). I was going to sell it on Ebay, only to realize that the bags were going for about 1/5 of the retail price! No bag, with the exception of Hermes and Chanel, holds it's value like Louis Vuitton. They age beautifully, especially when well maintained.

I have bought new and second hand, and while I definitely prefer the new bags - because like most people here, I'm extremely picky - the money I save is great! I've also sold a bag from time to time on ebay and mine are always in near-pristine condition. But nothing beats walking out of the LV store with a brand new bag, that is for sure!

I have no problem by second hand LV- all of mine are in great condition- one is even in better condition than the speedy I got from the boutique. (I didn't realize until I got home- in another city- that the hardware was slightly tarnished.... after that experience, I'd take a secondhand bag any day!)

three of my favorite LVs are second hand...
Neverfull GM, a mono clutch, and the mini accessories pochette. no funky smells!

More than likely I would avoid purchasing a used bag, just the thought of somebody sticking a used tissue in it is enough to turn me off.

I'd only buy a used one if it was limited edition that I couldn't get anywhere else, but for permanent ones I'd rather pay a little extra to have it brand new.

I wouldn't do so unless absolutely had to HAVE that bag. I got my one ebay purchase, a cabas piano, near new, no smells whatsoever and I love her. she's been getting attention everyday since I bought her. it all depends I guess, but I looked on ebay for MONTHS before finally taking the plunge. be super picky
