Only smaller things like agendas or pouches, I like my bags to be new and unused. I would never buy from profiteering resellers as that only encourages them and stops people who genuinely want things from getting them in store.

I prefer buying my items direct from LV. But for items that have been discontinued, I have to if I really want the item. I bought an Eva clutch in DE, Pochette Métis is Rose Poudre and a Speedy B 40 in DE. I do not regret any of them.

Speedy B 40 came in Damier Ebene? How did I not know about this?!

Right?! My bag was made in 2016. Not sure when they stopped production on them.
I wonder if it was a special order, perhaps? I know I was dreaming of a DE 40 long before 2016! I ended up getting my Mono 40 in 2017 because I had accepted it would never happen. I’ll have to keep an eye out in case a pre-loved one ever pops up!

There’s one on TheRealReal right now for $1800. Only reason why I didn’t get it is because it’s hot stamped.

In theory, I like the idea of buying secondhand. However, I wouldn’t want to spend a lot of money (I know “a lot” is extremely subjective) on anything showing considerable wear. Also, if I’m buying something secondhand, even if it is in excellent condition, I expect to get a significant discount from the retail price. So, since a lot of bags don’t seem to work that way (bags in excellent condition being sold at or above retail), I have avoided going the secondhand route.

I also find resellers extremely annoying so I don’t want to contribute to their financial gain. By resellers, I specifically mean people who buy things just so they can try to resell at a profit, not people who simply are selling items they’ve used for awhile and no longer enjoy.
Oh, I wish LV would put pressure on finding buyers who come in and buy of intending to sell it more than what LV charged. Not fair for people like me who wanted it to enjoy it.

I can’t stand people who buy luxury goods just to resell it for profits. Sometimes it annoying to hear luxury goods as investments. That why I don’t want a Birkin, Kelly, and definitely no Rolex either. I absolutely lost interest in those goods.

I get what you’re saying and used to feel similar but now I’m less bothered by resellers. The way I see it, no bag (or watch etc) is worth paying over RRP to a randomer. If I can’t buy direct i will find something else or look for preloved. Some resellers are vultures and if people continue to pay extortionate prices for the supposed must have items then they will continue to have a business. The buying public are the only ones who can change that. I actually see so many bag listings on fb groups of sellers who say they paid over the odds to a reseller and “just want to get back what was paid”. So they were so desperate for this item they paid silly money and now they don’t want it but they want some other mug to pay more too! :confused1:

I have purchased several handbags on the preloved market, such as : ellipse PM, brea mm in epi electric and some more non LV. I bought it preowned because it was discontinued, but it was in a great condition. I got my Ellipse for only 300$ on eBay back in 2016, and brea MM for only 1100$ in 2018. I have 0 regrets. I don’t love them less because I bought them preloved, and they feel like 100% my bags after I wore them a couple of times. There were some items I bought in worse conditions and despite cleaning them I could not wear them, so I sold them for the same price I bought them for. I would not pay the same money for preloved bag as for new, but if it’s in a perfect condition and way cheaper/discounted I would. I guess it’s impossible now with all of the price increases on both new and preloved markets. Even vintage bags cost a lot nowadays…. Good old days
