My rule is anything with vachetta must be bought brand new. (can be from boutique or re-seller).

Anything LE or discontinued have no choice but I still keep an eye out for brand new condition stuff.

I'm a total germophobe so I voted no, too. I am very, VERY careful with my bags, so owning a bag that most likely has stains on them (even if it's minimal)... Also LV's don't really lose their value, so often people will still want a good price for it, so then I'd rather spend 1 or a few hundred more on a new one. If I'm already going to spend hundreds and hundreds and hundreds on a bag, I could stand to pay some extra.

I can imagine though, if you really don't have the 800+$ for a bag, that you would look into getting a second hand one.

depends on the condition of bag. some times the savings isn't always the key to getting a great purchase. if it has tears, markings and even fraying then i definitely would buy new. at that point, the savings that i get from a 2nd hand bag isn't worth it. think of the repairs!!

if you asked me this last year, i would have said HECK NO!
but, i just got a second hand lv and it is in better than perfect condition, and i love it!
the girl only used it about 5 times, and it is very obvious because it looks spanking new.
still smelled brand new too!

I vote YES! I have purchased great bags in almost new condition for a fraction of the price on ebay and consignment stores. However, the first LV I bought on ebay REEKED of cigarette smoke! So nasty...I have since gotten rid of the smell and the bag was in excellent condition otherwise. I would have bought this bag new but it wasnt sold in stores anymore by the time I wanted to purchase it. All my LE bags are in great, clean condition and I paid much less than retail. So I say go for it if you are careful and ask a lot of questions before purchasing!

Totally agree.I only got mine second hand because lv was out of stock every tine I checked!I got fed up and decided to take a risk.ended up with dream deal.

If it's something that's not offered anymore and I want it badly enough. If it's something in the regular line I'd just assume buy new.

I agree with this. I'm a germaphobe, so I hate buying anything that is not brand new. However, there was one discontinued LV from a lovely lady on here that I bought it from and I'm thankful I did purchase it. But probably wouldn't purchase 2nd hand again only because of my own freaky nature! (I won't even touch library books.)

I vote YES. If the bag was in great condition and for a considerably lower price - why not? My friend works in purse-refurbishing business and she can bring any well-used bag to almost new condition.
With high-end brands I'd like to see it before buying it...you know for inspecting it, etc.
But I see nothing wrong with reselling-rebuying expensive bags.
And remember ladies - majority of LV users are fussy and picky about their bags exactly the same way you are, lol....so I really saw VERY nice pieces for sale throughout the time.

A purse refurb business? Wow! How cool is that. I wish I could do something like that. :-)

I vote yes if the bag is something you really want and get it at a good price. Places like BBOS has great slightly used or rented bags. That's how I got my Thames PM. It has a small waterspout on the handle that was barely noticeable. I got a bag that sells for over $1,000 with the sale and 20% discount for under $800!
