i wore my engagment ring every day up until a couple months ago. it's emerald cut and the corners started scratching me recently.

Do the prongs need to be secured by a jeweler? I had to have one of my settings fixed because it was snagging every piece of clothing I had, argh! I realized it wasn't the stone but one of the prongs became loose and the stone had actually slipped below the prong....

When our kids were born, I was wearing the e-ring. My dh actually referred to my e-ring as "that can opener" - he was afraid I'd scratch their little faces. :worried:

I wear my ring everyday, except if I'm doing manual labor-painting, etc. For our 25 ann. my dh gave me a 3/4c. diamond solitare on a chain. Then I found a 2 ct. diamond, had it set in a new wide band, and then took my engagement diamond (1/3ct.) and set it with my 25 ann. diamond. I love that necklace so much. DH and both got new rings for our anniversary, and put our old ones away. I plan on giving them to whichever child marries first, they can melt down both rings and make a new one for their chosen one. I wear my diamonds all of the time. I clean my jewelry by tossing it all into a glass with ammonia and water in it. Let is soak overnight, then clean the settings with an old toothbrush. Diamond bracelets, studs, etc. go right into the mix. They just sparke when clean...

I don't wear my wedding set while I'm working. I run before work and I don't wear my rings while I'm working out, so it's just easier to keep them off while I'm at work. I do love it, though. It's an emerald cut sapphire with an emerald cut diamond on either side of the sapphire set in white gold. The band is channel set diamonds and is slightly curved so that the engagement ring can fit against the wedding band.

I wear my engagement ring with the wedding band but I don't wear them everyday. When I am at home on the weekends or at night I leave them off. When I travel I wear my anniversary ring.

My husband wears his ring all the time, even in the shower and in bed. I find that very sexy and endearing. He doesn't even wear a watch but he loves wearing his wedding band. I feel bad sometimes when we go out and I forget to put my rings on. I always joke that he is out with his girlfriend/mistress when that happens.

i was engaged when i was 18, but we broke it off in 2004 (which makes me 21 now). i wanted to give my engagement ring back to my ex, but he refused to take it, and even though i dropped it off at his house when he wasn't around, he still brought it back to me. i'm in another relationship now, but i still wear that ring, because (a) it's a 3-carat diamond, and (b) he was the greatest love of my life. my current boyfriend says he doesn't mind me wearing it, because it's a beautiful ring -- or so he says.

Wow ! sounds like you have two wonderful men in your life.

If I'm working with hardware, I'll wear my eternity band and my wedding band, which never comes off. Otherwise, I switch between my diamond solitaire or my pink sapphire rings.
