Would You/Do You Wear Your Engagement Ring Everyday

I wear my wedding ring everyday. It's a blue sapphire in a custom setting. I clean my rings everyday in Gemcare solution, and I ultrasonic them once a week. Bling's gotta be CLEAN to sparkle properly. I too feel naked without my rings.

When I was engaged, then married I wore my engagement ring all of the time. Now that I am no longer married, I don't wear either engagement or wedding ring. The set was stolen by some one who broke into my house several years ago.

I used to wear my rings everyday until i got pregnant...that is...and it didn't fit. I've also had a bunch of "accidents" where my ring gets all banged up and we're have to spend money replacing baguettes...

i know, we should get our ring insured...i haven't gotten around to it...i've heard so many stories of rings getting lost...but it hasn't scared me into doing it just yet

QUOTE: ...........how do you clean your engagement ring?

I'm going to pipe up here because I accidentally discovered the best and the second best at-home diamond cleaners - I need mine sparkling too!

First: I never take it off - ever! Neither does my husband who has a gorgeous gold band. We worried it might be a problem as he sometimes works with industrial parts but thank goodness no problems.

Ultrasonic at the jewelers is great but for at-home:

2nd best: "Orange Blast"
Best: "Dawn Direct Foam" - it works on pots/pans but I'm much more impressed with what it does for my diamond - WOW!!

Trust me - you'll love these. And of course they multitask

Neither need a long soak, just a twirl in the liquid and a quick scrub with an old clean toothbrush. I've tried several jewelry cleaners and I'm not impressed.

thanks so much kitskats.....i've been looking for a way to clean my diamonds, cuz when i use the jewelry cleaners nothing seems to happen and i can't constantly be taking my stuff to the jewelers for an ultrasonic cleaning........i've been thinking of getting one of those little ultra sonic machines from sharper image, but i'll try your method first :p

I wear my engagement ring and wedding band every day. The engagement ring is an oval shaped diamond in a plain platinum Tiffany setting. My husband surprised me with it -- on the day we got married. I couldn't believe he picked something so perfect!!! I wear it on my right hand because my wedding band is a circle of diamonds. It is an antique. I bought it myself with bonus money! It is my "right hand ring" but I wear it on my left hand.

I wore my engagement ring every day without ever taking it off (except to clean) for the first 10 years of marriage. For our 10-year anniversary my husband surprised me with a trip to the jeweler to buy a bigger diamond. Wore the new ring every day for the next 10 years. For our 20-year anniversary I received a gorgeous platinum and diamond right-hand band along with a new wedding set that matched (the 10-year ring was yellow gold). Popped the 10-year diamond into the new setting and that's what I wear every day, though these days, I take all my rings off at night. My original engagement ring is paper thin from all those years of constant wear, but someday I will re-set that diamond and pass it along to my daughter.

Give it a shot ;) I don't think those home machines compare to the ones the jewelers have. My mom used ammonia, an old standby which works but I can't stand to be anywhere near ammonia...

I have never liked wearing rings...I generally only wear them when I'm "dressed up". I don't wear them at work because I rebuild computers and I'm afraid of getting them caught. My engagement ring and wedding ring are also soudered (sp?) together.

I don't wear it when we're doing outdoor activities or going to the gym. I don't like it when the free weights dent my DH's ring so I can't imagine it would be good for mine either. When we're playing tennis, hiking, biking, etc. I only wear my wedding ring. That's why I intentially never got them sautered.
