Would You/Do You Wear Your Engagement Ring Everyday

I feel naked without it and my wedding ring! However, I think my husband might be purchasing a 3-stone ring for this year's anniversary(he let it slip to my sister), so I'll probably retire the engagement ring in exchange for the new ring. If I get one anyways....:amuse:

I don't wear my engagement ring except for special occasions. It is a 4.82 carat Iolite, and I don't want to chip the edges of the stone. I wear my gold wedding band ALL THE TIME!

Funny this came up - today was the first day in almost 13 years that I didn't wear my engagement and wedding band. As it gets warmer and more humid my fingers swell JUST enough to make the rings tight. I don't want to have them sized because in the winter they'll be too large. I don't like the tightness, so what's a girl to do?

I bought myself a 'summer engagement ring'. It's a quarter of a size larger (a 5.75 rather than my normal 5.5) and is a beautiful, lucious 6.6 carat natural (untreated) blue topaz in white gold. Wow! I've gotten more compliments on this ring today than I remember recently with my 2.5 carat diamonds. This ring ROCKS and it was not expensive. Not that expensive, anyway.

So, that's it. My summer engagement ring. ;)

The only time I do not wear my engagement ring is when I am at work. Most of the courthouses in NYC are not in the nicest of areas, and I don't feel safe wearing it. Otherwise, it is always on my finger. I LOVE it!

I wear my engagement ring and my wedding ring everyday, and I actually wear them with a sapphire and diamond stack ring that my DH got me as a "push present" for having my son. So it goes wedding band, sapphire band, engagement ring- and suprisingly it doesn't look gaudy together.

I usually wear my wedding band -- a simple gold band that his mother wore. But I rarely wear my engagement ring. I am not a big jewelry person. I usually keep the wedding band on 24 hours a day. I do take it off some days, though and may not put it back on for weeks on end. I usually just wear my running watch. I'm pretty low-maintenance jewelry-wise. Although, I wouldn't mind an anniversary band. My engagement ring gets caught on everything.

QUOTE: ...........how do you clean your engagement ring?

I'm going to pipe up here because I accidentally discovered the best and the second best at-home diamond cleaners - I need mine sparkling too!

First: I never take it off - ever! Neither does my husband who has a gorgeous gold band. We worried it might be a problem as he sometimes works with industrial parts but thank goodness no problems.

Ultrasonic at the jewelers is great but for at-home:

2nd best: "Orange Blast"
Best: "Dawn Direct Foam" - it works on pots/pans but I'm much more impressed with what it does for my diamond - WOW!!

Trust me - you'll love these. And of course they multitask

Neither need a long soak, just a twirl in the liquid and a quick scrub with an old clean toothbrush. I've tried several jewelry cleaners and I'm not impressed.

I don't wear any rings in the summer time either because my hands swell as well and I hate having anything tight on. My rings were always a bigger size then I needed because of that. Then my jeweler pointed out that my engagement ring did not look good flopping around on my finger and convinced me to resize it to my correct size, which was a mistake for me.

I will wear them all winter but as soon as it starts to get humid they come off.

Generally though if I am going out of town I will start wearing it again but as soon as I am home they go back in the jewelry box.

At first it bothered my husband but now I think he understands.

The only time I didn't wear my engagement ring was when it was at the jeweler's having the wedding band part permanently attached. I take it off to sleep and to shower, but anytime I leave the house I wear it.
My husband designed it and I love it. I have never seen another like it.
