For some, buying a Hermes bag and being known as a classless gold digger might be offensive to some and not to others. its all about cultures and I think good or bad, people from overseas should at least respect that!!

I don't. :nogood:

I was born (to a lower upper class family, although, I was sent to a state school because my mother was a socially-minded Liberal; so I can see it from both sides) and live in the UK and I can assure you that it's not, in any way, acceptable to talk like that. :nogood:

It doesn't mean that certain people don't talk like that, of course, but it is certainly not considered to be polite.

Even if it was acceptable, it's one thing being tolerant of different social customs and forms of speech when they are innocently meant and harmless (e.g. British Asians call themselves 'Oriental', because the term is not considered offensive over here and 'Asian' is the group name for people from India and Pakistan etc. here; whereas, I know the term 'Oriental', in reference to people, is considered offensive in the States), but it is quite another to be accepting of rudeness, or worse, just because the poster is 'foreign'.

For example, I would not tolerate someone talking of cruelty to children and/or women and/or animals as if it was OK, just because it was considered 'socially acceptable' by the dominant forces in their country (i.e. cruel and/or sexist men).

If by doing that I 'offended' those cruel and/or sexist men, then all to the good!!!

Actually Chavs aint all from the slums, nor indeed are they wanna be gangsters!!!!!
Chavs are the equivalent Mods , Rockers etc. Its all about certain clothes and music. (as every trend always has been)
Please if you are judging anybody, get over yourselves!!!!
Its a big wide world, plenty of room for eveyone.
TOLERANCE is a great virtue.

I see what people mean by certain people taking a brand name 'down' - just like certain people takingf a brand up. Celebrities are the reason most people know some brands. The Multicolore LV was made known to people because of Jessica Simpson. Think about the the Anya bag 'not a plastic bag' it was a $15 bag until celebs started carrying them.
I won't carry Chanel because there are too many fugly fake ones where I live and that's what I think of when I see them now.

Anyway, I'm not too sure if Colleen McLoughlin is considered a chav anymore, and even if she is, who cares?

I don't love VB, but I do love her Hermes collection! Lucky girl!

Wow- that statement is so lacking in class.

Totally agree, rubylola and I suppose the person who posted that comment actually thinks they have class!!!!

Coleen is a perfectly pretty girl , who has a great figure, and is confident carrying her Birkin in boyfriend jeans and a tank. (actually going to get my boyfriend jeans out tomorrow and wear my Kelly)
A couple of years ago, Kate Moss was seen as a Chav!!!
Really who cares???
Walk around any city in the world, and notice all the different styles and trends, thats FASHION!!!!
Its an expression, its transient, but it makes the world full of individuals!!!
Its freedom of choice, without it there would be no Dior, JPG, Chanel, Hermes etc.
And there are no rules!!!!
