:roflmfao::roflmfao::roflmfao:

What I was trying to say (and failing, apparently! LOL!), was that I respect other cultures, or the parts of other cultures, that deserve respect.

I don't, however, feel under any moral obligation to respect cultures, or the parts of cultures, where mistreatment and/or the torturing and killing of women and/or children and/or unnecessary cruelty to animals is considered acceptable (in the latter case, that would include a disrespect for that part of my own culture [e.g. intensive farming, fur production etc.]).

In fact, I think it is my moral obligation, as a global citizen, to disrespect these despicable practices.

ok that makes sense, and I agree

^^^ yes, I agree. I also think it is probably also a valid point to mention that she didn't latch onto a wealthy successful footballer (which is what many of the 'wags' have done, and is a reason they are not respected by a lot of people).

She was going out with Wayne Rooney when they were at school together (at which point she was the one with the prospects being the more academically minded of the two). After they left school he became this massive footballer- but she has also carved out a very successful and lucrative career for herself, so she isn't the archetypal 'wag-gold digger'.

(I am slightly amazed that I know this as I have no interest in either of them, it is surprising what you soak up through the media!)

Yes, very good points there, ruby. :tup:

I know what you mean about soaking up information through the media, too. My partner is always amazed at how much I know about football, for example, even though I'm not in the slightest bit interested in it and don't even read the papers.

In fact, I sometimes worry about how much room this unwanted info is taking up in my tiny brain! :roflmfao::roflmfao::roflmfao:

just as a fair warning, once your in university you can no longer use wikipedia..it's not a reliable source. ( anyone can write anything/edit information on there ). plus your professors/teachers will know! don't your teachers make you turn in assignments to a site called, turnitin.com ? I mean while I was 10th grade all my teachers required that you turn all essays through that site..it helps teachers find out where you've received your info.

Erm, no. I am doing my Ph.D and I use wikipedia. It's a good resource for getting basic information about anything. It provides some references and usually gives people a good basis to start off on a project. Usually since anyone can edit, it's quite reliable not the other way around.

Copying and pasting is wrong from anywhere, not just wikipedia. Of course I don't cite 'wikipedia' in any journal articles I submit, but it's been extremely useful to me and many others.

I just think alot of people are jumping down the OP's throat and being really mean to her..for no real reason!!

we are all passionate about our bags, correct? Well, if someone finds a "celebrity" wearing a bag from a brand known for its class and sophistication offensive, then we shouldn't be so quick to throw flames.

lets not forget Paris Hilton and the grimy Chanel flap! lmao

I am sick and tried of hearing women bash other women for stupid things like "This person is not classy or good enough to wear a particular bag". Honestly, for someone to say something like that is just juvenile and I don't tolerate that well.:nogood:

This is OT but wikipedia is NOT a reliable source. I just finished my PhD and I would NEVER use it. No one checks the accuracy of the information. I shudder to think that your supervisor is allowing that. I do not allow my students to use it either, for their own protection...

To the OP, you are a snob and you give all women who enjoy carrying designer goods a bad name. As long as you have the funds to purchase the bag/shoes/dress whatever, who cares who you are! I mean really....so she is a footballer's girl. Why should that stop her from being able to shop at H or any other shop? Get a life....
