It seems to have stated a downward trend with the horrible leather in spring of 2006. I think around that time the quality control went  and maybe they tried to cut costs but charge the same. The black dots, mismatched leather, etc. seems to have really gotten bad in the 2007's.
The yellowing problem is ludicrous and they should refund each and every person that got a pale pink bag which the SA's admitted had problems. Bags whould not yellow in a few months. I bought 2 MJ pink Sophias years ago. One I used a lot the other was a back up which was on sale and I coulnd't resist the price, which I ended up selling. I've used it for over 3 years and it hasn't yellowed or faded at all.
I think we should all take the same time we write this on here and fire off emails to Balenciaga telling them what we think of their bags right now. Yellowing, fading, seams left unsewn, glue on bags, black spots on them, handles that don't match the bag, etc.:cursing:

Sorry, but this is not the beauty of a Balenciaga. It looks like sh%$. The handles should match the leather.

That is dire!

My Mulberry bags are so much better made, even the ones that come from the overseas factories in Turkey and China. To be frank, there is hardly ever anything visibly wrong even with the ones sold at a lower rate as Mulberry factory rejects.

How can Balenciaga sell obviously reject standard goods at full price?

I think that I may vote with my feet (I mean wallet).

Just as quickly as i came into BBAGS I am maybe on my way out. I Really think for the amount of money we pay the bags should meet our satisfaction(now granted these aren't 40K bags as in the new Nm catalogue) but still anything over 1K really is a lot of money.

My hobo that is 4 months old has faded from her glorious self and looks like it is 2 year sold instead of 4 months.

My LE Magenta while gorgeous has the color problem your violet has though mine is very hard to see on the under handle as if they wrapped the leather too tightly.

It's upsetting

Wow! After reading this thread, I might just stick to buying older model Bbags instead of the current year. I have a Twiggy and a City both from '05 and was thinking about an '07 City but now maybe I shouldn't......:s

Yes, my Mum and I were just discussing the other day whether Balenciaga has perhaps switched manufacturers? Even though I still love Balenciaga, I have noticed some quality differences.

I went to Barneys the other day to try to find a Jaune City, but all of the ones they had had very strange leather. It was mottled and stretched unevenly in places, so I was forced to hold off on my purchase for now :(

Out of curiousity, I got into my closet and took out some of my favorites and some of my neglected bags and inspected them closely. I didn't see any of the things we are experiencing recently. I thought perhaps I had gotten pickier as time passed, but that's not the case. They are all as close to perfect as a Bbag should be. Nothing mismatched, no faded areas, etc. These little black spots just started popping up in the last 2 shipments... I think. Obviously they are not normal because when my Mom's SA was trying to find her a Mastic after the colorless handle fiasco, she mentioned pale areas and specklings of black spots on many or them. In the end she found and sent her a gorgeous Mastic City but it took a while and she had to go through a lot of bags to find a good one.

Whenever I have quality control problems with any bag brand, I go back to the store/send back and get a refund even if I have to make a fuss. Most real QC problems happen in the first month IMO, other wise its mostly normal wear and tear and then I keep it. I think these problems we are having should be directed to Balenciaga management immediately. That would be better than here because if enough people complain maybe there could/would be a real change for next season. Chanel bags have more defects from my experience than Bal ever has and they are charging $2000 a bag. Although I recall people writing letters to the Chanel corp regarding the problems, don't know if anything changed because I switched to Bal around that time. I hope they fix things soon. I haven't had any major QC complaints with Bal, just their CS was a problem with the magenta issue. On that note, I would not keep a defective magenta, I'd speak with a manager about the defects I've seen here. Either way I am currently happen with all my new 07 Balenciagas

I don't think this problem is exclusive to Balenciaga. I think the quality of high-end bags in general has deteriorated since about 2004-ish. I remember when this happened actually. It was when Marc Jacobs bags became all the rage and then high-end bags in general became much more in demand. Unfortunately for us as consumers this is a case of us eating our own dogfood.

I really love my 04's and 05's. The thing I can't stand now is the inconsistency with the leather. I feel like I scored because my violet city has pretty good leather. I was really worried ordering sight unseen. What's sad is my expectations were not that high to begin with, so I guess maybe that made it easier to be happy and satisfied. They should all have great leather w/slight variations. Like most other designers.

I think I'm sticking to my earlier stance in the 08 wishlist thread...after a bag from 08, I think I may just hold off on more bbags, or at least be very wary about future purchases. Perhaps I will see some others around the other subforums! This makes me sad because I just sold and sent off a gorgeous Chloe paddy partially bec. I truly love balenciaga more....now I wish I hadn't. That particular chloe had such beautiful thick luxurious leather that would last a lifetime!

I too have been noticing the lighter colored handles, and the problems w/inconsistent sealings, cracking and fading and mismatched coloring on one bag, etc. And to think I sold a couple of my 05 bbags off for new ones! I still love the newer ones in my collection-- at least 90% of them are really dark colors...as long as my blacks don't turn green I'm good...but wish there was much more consistency in production....and I am appalled at the extremely quick fading of new bags I've seen on some of ur pictures, etc. Esp. the one aqua GH hobo someone posted...

That's exactly what I noticed when I took all of my bags out for new group photos. I am telling you out of 27 bags I have purchased in the past year, 18 were from 05, 2 from 04, 1 from 06, and 6 from 07. When it was just the older bags in my life I was over the moon every time a bag arrived. I would still get that thought "wow, I so get why everybody loves these bags"! Then I started buying new bags, and there was always at least one thing wrong with the bag, strap, mirror, or tassels! And that is crazy you mentioning the black spots PP!!! I had thought that was something I had gotten on at least 3 of the new bags!!! I had no clue what I was doing or where they were coming from!!! And ITA!! We all have to email, mail, call, and get a petition to send to Balenciaga ASAP!!! Oh, and besides the the extra tassels being way too light to use on my new Violet Make Up, one of the tassels on the bag is super super puffy and will not be lasting long!!!
:cursing:

I only have one Chanel and it's the Jumbo Caviar flap in white and no problems with it but I think Chanel sunglasses are horrible. Very bad quality.

I've had many problems with my Chanel bags, but they were LE, not classics. I had the $2500+ PNY flap bag and the zipper pull cracked the first week. I had a black mademoiselle camera +1600+ and the leather completely smashed after 2 uses. I had a burgundy reissue about $2100+ and the leather was completely scratched up upon receiving it. I can go on to about 3 more with problems. In comparison, I had a Balenciaga black GGH city and the zipper was defective, Saks happily exchanged it for my GGH brief. I just think people need to complain to Bal, so they are aware of the problems. Like you and your mom did with those mismatched handles and such. I just like the new collection and think the leather has been quite nice on the majority of bags that I've personally seen. I have also had good CS since the whole magenta problem.
