i completely agree with you guys. if this poor quality continues, i'm going to stop buying them. there's no clearer signal to bal than reduced sales! not that one person can make a big difference on their bottom line but it's the same with recycling, one person one day at a time, can do something right?

not trying to convince anyone any way but i do think that if i have to baby my bags, i'm not going to be a very happy camper. :/ i'm STILL upset over my violet tassels that spilt a week ago. i'm a bit afraid to use my magenta GSH because of all the reported problems. urgh!!

I have been speaking to someone who says that Chloe bags are going the same way. I think the designers are obviously not getting involved with any kind of QC and the people making the bags are not being given any incentive to do a good job. Who knows, they are probably getting paid a pittance and have no job satisfaction and we are the mugs getting landed with a $1000 shoddy bag as a result.

Designers are becoming blase about the fact that we all still buy these bags. Look how many violet bags alone they must have sold this season. They are making a fortune so why would anyone at HQ think anything was wrong! We should complain loudly to Balny and in turn they should be complaining even louder to Balenciaga direct. However until such time as sales dwindle then no-one will do a damn thing about it. Sales figures are the most telling measure of a companies success. So if we think these bags are not worth the money then perhaps we need to be boycotting them until they get their act together. Until sales revenue drops, we can expect the same poor standard of workmanship and as far as I can tell a complete lack of standardisation. It makes me mad that so many companies across the world are still in business making heaps of money and delivering poor service. This applies to every industry - I see it all the time in the Oil Industry and it makes me mad. Myself and my fiance have our own company and deliver nothing less than 100% but we are trying to compete with other companies who deliver way below that but who still win the business just because they are under a big corporate umbrella. A name means so much to people and the name of these designers is all that alot of people care about.
Thankfully us Balenciaga fans are a little less fickle as Balenciaga don't plaster their name all over their bags so we are not effectively buying just because of the name. But if we continue to buy these bags when we are getting bad service like this then we do get to the point where we are doing just that.
Okay I am getting off the soap box now. ;)
:tup::true::woohoo:
Perfectly said BB! Get on your soap box anytime, cuz I'll be there to listen! I don't think we are the only ones noticing either. I am barely seeing new Bbags on celebrity arms anymore, especially the gals who have been buying them since 05 or before.

I also noticed the really funky super super stiff tassel they made for the front of the Matelasse (why they don't treat all tassels like they do to the ones on the Coin Purses has me boggled. They aren't super stiff but with a sealer around the edges they definitely won't split as fast) bags, but in Elle Magazines October issue they have a close up of a black Matelasse bag on page 214, and they are deffinitely using a regular tassel rather than the crappy ones that come with that bag!

I have definitely noticed with the '07 bags that there seems to be a new issue with leather color not matching on the different parts of the bag (especially on the handles and the pieces of leather surrounding the front pocket). My '07 magenta has that to some extent (but conditioning evened it out more, so I'm going to live with it). Your violet '07 city looks like it's such a stark difference that conditioning probably wouldn't help. :sad:

There does seem to be a growing trend of people reporting odd problems with the Bbags. I am especially upset by the difference in color across various sections of the Bags. There is no way to overcome this problem, unlike the dry leather, which could be conditioned. The problems with glue and seams coming apart are just unacceptable.

For me what makes it worse, is that Bal corporate doesn't seem to care about these problems and has the attitude that the customer is just whining about a few minor problems. At prices like these, we should demand 100% satisfaction and receive stellar customer service.

:yes:
Absolutely! And I am not sure if it is Bal Corporate affecting the customer service at their store in NY, but the SA's are taking that same attitude. Like the customer is just a whiny, overly picky, and hard to please person! I have gotten this treatment from an SA at the store, which is bad enough, but it completely blew me away that powderpuff's Mom got that attitude initially when she wanted to return the bag with no color on the handles. Between her and her daughter, the revenue they generate that store is HUGE! And what happened to the motto "the customer is always right"? I am not looking for that kind of service, but I certainly don't want to be made to feel like a b#*&@, because I am asking for the quality of the merchandise to be decent, and representative of the cost of said merchandise!
:cursing:

I have not bought or even posted about Bal in a long time because of this. I like bright colored bags.. preferably pink or purple. I have felt after owning a few past seasons pinks that they fade too fast for me to use them daily.

I am not hard on my handbags by any means but right now I feel as if the only color I would feel confortable getting would be black. I just don't like black enough to justify spending that kind of money.

I wanted a LE magenta but resisted because I was afraid it would fade and lose it's color.

It is too bad Bal seems to ignore these problems like fading and yellowing. For $1000 + a pop I do not want to hear that is the natural aging of these bags.

I only own older bags but decided to take a chance and buy something in plomb. I had it for maybe a week when I noticed a scratch, so I used leather conditioner and the color smeared right off. And the strap is a different color than the rest of the bag.

Well, that's exactly it, now isn't it. I've been eyeing vintage Hermes before buying pretty much a brand new one- but by vintage I mean 1940, 1950, 1960. NOT 3 years! For crying out loud. Natural aging I'd expect would happen maybe around year 15? 20? Not the 2nd or third year.
For all I gripe about paying hundreds for LV canvas, those babies hold up for decades and take serious beatings.
Don't get me wrong..I LOVE my Balenciaga bags...but I am seriously doubting their longevity. There isn't even a span of more than 4 or 5 years yet where we can see how they'll age and that worries me.

I'm a newbie and i was so excited that i bought 2 Bbags within a month.
My 2nd bag (07 Plomb GSH Work) has handles that are different in color, leather and workmanship!
As you can see fr pics, 1 handle is tight and nice, the other is puffy!
I can live with the color and leather differences. BUT i didn't pay $$$$ for sloppy workmanship and bad quality control! :cursing:
Unless someone tells me that is how the handles will age eventually after used, then i can live with it. But if its a defect, then i'll have to send it back (which is such a hassle!). :sad:

:yes::tup:
Yep! I know it can happen from anyone and in all areas of merchandise and services. But the LV bags I have bought have held up for so very long, and without me babying them. Another thing that I have found in my personal dealings with them, is the exceptional, customer service I get. It doesn't matter if I am going to my local LV store, or talking to someone on the main customer line, or a another store in another state. They have incredible customer service, and that means everything to me. And I do not understand why the customer service between LV and Balenciaga is like calling Walmart instead of Nordstrom. It shouldn't be that far off. Maybe if the CS at Bal was the same, and they truly felt bad for these things slipping by everyone, and did all they could to apologize, and help us until we're satisfied, like LV does, then maybe these quality control issues wouldn't be so bad! Thank god, my 2nd and 3rd favorites are 05 Magenta and 05 Turquoise because these colors seem to hold up nicely. As far as my favorite 05 BG Pink, so far keeping them out of direct sunlight for my long photos sessions has made a huge difference. I am using them the same, except for the outdoor photos, and it has really helped.

I thought I had Apple Guard but when I looked through my things I only had the conditioner and cleaner. In searching for Apple Products on the web, I finally came across a company that sells a UV Protectant made just for leather. I am soooo excited and surprised I came across it, because I have searched the web many many times. I will let you guys know what I think of it when it arrives. They also had lots of other leather care products, so I ordered a cleaner and conditioner. Sorry to go off topic, but I am really excited about finally finding a UV Protector for leather!

on 1 side of my fb day, at 2 pieces sew together, i can see it has 2 shades of color, 1 brighter, 1 darker. i still love it but i have to add in this thread. i would call them i'm brave enough. i'm scared af hearing that they cant do anything...i just let it be

I've never had any QC issues with my bbags, but from what I read here everyday it seems to be very common, and becoming worse. For how much these bags cost there should not be so many problems. I think that Balenciaga needs to get their act together soon or they're going to be losing a lot of customers

Absolutely agree - distinctly paler green and very dry corners and front pocket area on GSH Forest Green City. Zip tape very poor match for leather colour. Bad trimming of leather edges on ends of bag and visible glue. Kept it but wish that I had sent it back!

Don't like the stories that I am reading here about the Magentas. There are at least 3 appalling bags reported already!

(PS - I have got a black Day that is dark green too.)

It seems to have stated a downward trend with the horrible leather in spring of 2006. I think around that time the quality control went :tdown: and maybe they tried to cut costs but charge the same. The black dots, mismatched leather, etc. seems to have really gotten bad in the 2007's.
The yellowing problem is ludicrous and they should refund each and every person that got a pale pink bag which the SA's admitted had problems. Bags whould not yellow in a few months. I bought 2 MJ pink Sophias years ago. One I used a lot the other was a back up which was on sale and I coulnd't resist the price, which I ended up selling. I've used it for over 3 years and it hasn't yellowed or faded at all.
I think we should all take the same time we write this on here and fire off emails to Balenciaga telling them what we think of their bags right now. Yellowing, fading, seams left unsewn, glue on bags, black spots on them, handles that don't match the bag, etc.:cursing:

Sorry, but this is not the beauty of a Balenciaga. It looks like sh%$. The handles should match the leather.
