DH and I spent a lovely weekend away and this shawl was my constant companion - Couvertures CS GM (ardoise/bourgogne). When I spied this one at my boutique resistance was futile, my supposed Ban notwithstanding (ha, take that you stupid ban!).

I gather these are a bit difficult to find, but if any of you are teetering on the GM CS slope, this design from the men's collection is a brilliant neutral -- goes with e-v-er-y-thing!

^ I'm so glad you posted this today textilegirl! Mine is due to arrive on Tuesday! I am so excited, as this will be my first classic design neutral colorway cashmere shawl! The Couvertures looks so elegant and effortless chic on you! Any more pics? :p

pierina your four different Lalbhai are beautiful. Do you have a favorite? Have you always loved this design? I just recently toyed with the idea of this in the summer silk but of course by now it is too late.
Lanit - what a gorgeous and perfect Horn pendant!

Hi mlbags, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but perhaps it can help...

J'aime Mon Carre

TangoTosca, thanks but the information I am looking for is the special folding instruction for J'amime Mon Carre, where instead of a bias fold, the fold was done in such a way that the borders are seen in more areas..... (I thought I had put that in my scrapbook but apparently not). Thanks anyway. Any one remember this? Please?

Pardon me but a little off-topic here but I desperately need your help.
I've read before but for the life of me I am unable to find that post.
I have a J'aime Mon Carre and a member here has a very good folding tip so that when worn, the borders show up very well.
Can someone please link me to that post. I've been searching the whole morning!
Thanks in advance.

Oh, by the way, I am lurk faithfully on this thread! Great job everyone!

mlbags I think it may have been me !
I found the tip on Scarfmoodist's blog ...It works really well on 90cm with contrast borders too.
Instead of the normal bias fold ,start by folding diagonally into a triangle.
Then fold inwards to achieve a long strip .
Make a knot 3/4 of way down , and after passing free end behind your neck , slot the unknotted end through the knot .
I love this , and many thanks to Scarfmoodist for the original tip .

Love this , just a wonderful neutral and an iconic design that still seems fresh and youthful [ give me more of that!!]
Congratulations on finding it , and I'm sure it'll be worth every last euro/dollar in the wear and joy you'll get from it.

Sparklelisab, Tango Tosca and Jahna

You've got cows pretty much sorted here !
Jahna, there's a huge list of H scarves that make me gasp ,and not with pleasure .
I hate the fact they celebrate bloodsports . The one with dead fowl hanging is one of the worst things I can imagine : and I can't bear the whole hunting scene .

On the plus side , they haven't produced any recently...

Lanit Your new pendant -is - goooorgeous !
It's been on my brain , and I need to have another look .....

Micheldietlin This is my favourite of your pairings . Oh so French you are in Feux de Ciel et Caleche Elastique.

Pierina Your Labhai collection is beautiful, and I can only keep looking as I missed this lovely scarf.

*Irisj* congrats on the blog

*Euridice* what a glorious pairing with Lalbhai and ExLenK

*Pierina* your Lalbhai collection is truly stunning

*Bienchen* Sous le Cedre is beautiful on you

*textilegirl* congrats on the GM

*lanit * your Tsubas has such gorgeous details

My little expedition to Madison Avenue was successful :graucho::graucho: Despite my intention to buy something black and white and not purple, I am introducing Point d'Orgue in aubergine/rose/prune. It does look a thousand times better on me than black and white, and does go with reds and blacks, which was my objective. So mission accomplished, I think!

Happy Monday, everyone! I woke up "early" only to discover I hadn't changed my clock. Drat. Still, looking at gorgeous pictures here is the best way to start the week, early or not!

A last bit of India, the Lalbhai pattern by Michael Duchene which celebrates the Museum of Indology - a priceless repository of manuscripts, books and other reference material covering many aspects of Indian religion, philosphy and language.

Here in four different materials: light blue cotton at the top, green and lavender lightweight silk, blue-gray mousseline and my first cashmere GM in dark blues.

Pierina, Most certainly a stunning collection of Lalbhai. I'm now regretting every single one I've passed up. Like Lanit, I'm surprised by how many fabrics it's been produced in--so thank you for the scarf education! However do you choose the one you'll wear?

So this week is SCARY silk week - unless it has changed to cow madness week. I am amused by how this topic has evolved.

Unfortunately I have few if any silks with scary elements. But to honor of that wonderful creature from Asia that brings H such lovely horns for us to appreciate, new BD Dalva horn pendant with (scary) ravens from Tsubas (around the world-Japan). Oh, and lastly this post also is a nod and hug to arabesques for enabling me on horns and this lovely pendant as well as her penchance for two color silks nowadays! :amuse::giggles:

Oh Lanit, how beautiful! Another word: elegant. The subtle color range is a calming vision to look at early on a Monday morning. And that golden Dalvy . . . so stunning! I should try to wear mine today.

Ok, I admit defeat for now; too many (gorgeous) posts to comment individually. This thread :urock:

Textilegirl, For someone who IS on that brink (and unsure of how deep the ravine is), this is an amazing shawl. I've fallen in love. Thank you!

Congratulations, SophieG--that aubergine color is fantastic on you. It even looks a touch warmer, like burgundy, when worn with this type (maybe it's the prune and rose?). This scarf is surely going to be a much-used resource in your closet. Clapping!

cloudy day in Versailles castle park... and Feux du ciel/Caleche elastique combo..

I'm unsure what to focus my attention on, Michel--that wonderful scarf combination or the avenues of Versailles. I just developed another set of photographs from one of my winter visits to Versailles, and I'm aching to return.

Responding to Pussywillow’s suggestion…:smile1:

Gorgeous color combinations, Iris. Is your closet as infinite as I imagine--it's as if seeing whole new ensembles every day. Beautiful!

The quickest of fly by's: Sous le Cedre which depicts a mediterranean scene or possibly, either way, a fair way from here.

2012_03_10SLC.JPG

Dear Bienchen, That Sous le Cedre is divine. There's something about the mosaic motifs that make my heart beat fast.

I know I haven't commented on all the beauty that I've seen, and I hope I've thanked everyone who commented. Today I traveled from Armenia to India, then on to Japan! I layered CW02 of Ex Libris en Kimono with Lalbhai summer twill in the prune with orange border.

I didn't have time to mess with it this morning, but thought it was okay (first pic). I then kind of knotted things together, 2nd pic, so that it would be a bit more stable. The Lalbhai hangs down for quite a ways. What I intend to do, though, is the weave knot with the Lalbhai and weave some of the ExLenK into it from below.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Euridice, Love this combination! The colors and designs work so well together, and the result puts a smile on my face. Thank you for this little bit of happiness.

Today test driving my new Reve de Gloria scarf. I like this neutral look with the injection of color from the Rouge H Garden Party.

TangoTosca, Love, love, love the simplicity of this ensemble and the scarf. I'm betting there will be a rush on this motif due to your impeccable modeling.

My Rêve d'Australie arrived and surprise, it was an entirely different color than the seller's photos/description. (This never happens with eBay purchases, right.) No blues or golds in it, only vivid shades of grey (charcoal and slate), ochre, red, asparagus green - but it's bright, not mousey. I'm not even mad because a grey/earthy/contrasts scarf like this fills a much-needed niche in my collection AND it's so crisp and stiff like it's never been out of the box.

Look at these tone-on-tone white dots on ivory silk, asdfghjkl. The design is busy with stylized animals, boomerangs, and smaller symbols common in Australian aboriginal art, the combination of which can tell elaborate stories. These "dreamtime" stories are usually shown from a bird's-eye view; they set down moral order and establish customs. On Rêve, I see symbols for journey and campfire, running water, stars, emu tracks. Pairing it with Native American turquoise or Tahiti black pearls. It pleases the armchair traveler in me :)

So, my contribution to Around The World In 7 Days, Australia. Thank you for letting me share :smile1:

Bond7Girl, I've never looked at this scarf before--and WOW! That's magnificent. The colors are so perfect--I imagine it moves easily from casual to elegant. Congratulations on this find. It's perfect with your beautiful hair and light coloring.

The Scarf Moodist showed us her yellow JAMC in this link which I believe froufrou adapted for her navy one: I've not been able to locate frou's post but perhaps she will be able to re-post the photo she took of her knotting.

Due to its bolduc border, this scarf is a brilliant contender for the waterfall knot for which you'll find instructions on MaiTai's Picture Book

Here's my cack-handed rendition of the same with an archive pic of my navy JAMC...

You appear extremely Cheshire Cat pleased with your choice!

This is really beautiful with your colouring: Point d'Orgue in the one colour I wish I could wear. It is much warmer toned in real life, I discovered, and thus really sets off your chestnut hair to a tee (I need more a blue-based purple, sadly). Enjoy!
