Responding to Pussywillow’s suggestion…:smile1:

Congratulations on your blog!! :yahoo: I'm proud to say I'm your first member and I look forward to more installments! There is a Scarf Circus blog in the works as well; goodness it takes a lot of time to watermark pictures...

I love your variation on a theme with this new pairing of Aux Pays des Epices. The more I wear it, the more I like it.

Hmmm. Isn't that what cows do? Ruminate? This from:
http://strausfamilycreamery.com/?id=57

How a Cow Eats

A cow is a "ruminant" animal, which means it is an "even-toed hoofed animal with 3 or 4 stomachs".
Yup, a cow has 4 stomachs!
Here is how it works. A cow only has teeth on her bottom jaw. The top of her jaw is a hard pad. Together they are perfect for grazing. The cow takes a mouthful of grass, then grinds it back and forth between her bottom teeth and her top jaw until she forms a ball of half ground-up feed which she surrounds with saliva (so it can slide down easily). That ball is called a "bolus" and is swallowed where it makes its way into the cow's "rumen", her first stomach.
In the rumen the half chewed grass and/or grains and hay are softened by stomach juices. Then it moves to the second stomach, the reticulum, where the food is softened further into small wads called cuds. Each cud is then regurgitated, where the cow chews it again 40-60 times. That's what they're talking about when they say a cow is "chewing its cud".
And that's why you see cows lying in the field chewing and chewing when they don't seem to be eating anything.
After all this chewing, the food is swallowed a final time and passes through the other two stomachs, the omasum and abomasum. A cow's food provides nutrients to keep it healthy and to produce milk. A cow's waste, after drying and composting, becomes wonderful fertilizer for our fields!

The only way I can tie this into scaves is "Plaza del Toros" which I love as a design but cannot buy as I object to bullfighting: (photo from HSCI)

plazadeltoros.jpg
My dog, Al, loves green tripe (unprocessed cow stomach) and it's apparently very good for him. I can't think of a scarf I have to pay homage to this wonderful food!

It's turned into "Wild Kingdom" on this thread, hasn't it?? :hs: :giggles:

Maybe that's another idea for a theme week...

:lolots::lolots::giggles::giggles::lolots::lolots::heart: Nothing I love to talk about more than animals and Hermes!! So stinkin' funny! I adore the picture of the scarf you posted Tango--does it in any way remind you of La Femme? It's called "river" something, right? I love a brahma and would have one, but higher fences are needed to ensure their safety. Already looked into it, and bison--I want a few of those too. But they are BIG. Need BIG fences. One day.

Jahna, I love the lesson on a ruminating cow--I believe you called me one, but hey, no hard feelings. I only hope to be as lovely and peaceful as my cows. :giggles:

Irisj--blogdom! How fabulous; it's about time as you are one of the most stunning scarf models on this thread. Congratulations--another Maitai....

TangoTosca, John, FritillaryB, Sparklelisab, Michel, Iris J, thank you :cloud9:

TangoTosca, I love finding luck in what could have been a huge misfortune, and making spiritual scarf relatives, especially for the more obscure scarf families. :hugs: Your hypnotic close-ups of Rêve de Gloria drew me in, and I only emerged from my internet searches many minutes later. It might be my personal sleeper hit if I ever manage to lay my hands on the right colorway. The brushstrokes have an oddly soothing, mesmerizing effect up close.

Michel, the borders of Rêve d'Au are anthracite, and some design is gris ardoise! No true blues in this scarf at all. Your Feux du ciel is gorgeous, one of my wishlist designs.

Sparklelisab, I am so curious - are these your pet hedgehogs in your avatar? I saw a hedgehog napping in a plisse photo on another thread, and I'm sure it didn't just wander in from the garden...

Iris, I've already added you on Bloglovin. Looking forward to your pics

Ok, I admit defeat for now; too many (gorgeous) posts to comment individually. This thread :urock:

DH and I spent a lovely weekend away and this shawl was my constant companion - Couvertures CS GM (ardoise/bourgogne). When I spied this one at my boutique resistance was futile, my supposed Ban notwithstanding (ha, take that you stupid ban!).

I gather these are a bit difficult to find, but if any of you are teetering on the GM CS slope, this design from the men's collection is a brilliant neutral -- goes with e-v-er-y-thing!

Euridice - Whoa, what a glorious cw of Jardins d'Armenie. What a fantastic choice of mousseline and it looks amazing on you. But Ex Libris en Kimono with Lalbhai summer twill together!

Pierina - It brightens my day when you have the blues :-)

Thank you so much, I am really thrilled with this mousseline! And, I am really happy with my layering, thank so much!

(love this comment to Pierina, I think this goes for me too!!)

TangoTosca your scarf is so cool, and when I went to your thread I was so interested to read about this artist. And then I was BLOWN away by your Cave Felem!! So much awesomeness in one scarf!!!

Euridice, I am really enjoying your collection, all these designs are among the ones that I've been drawn to, even if in different cws. Marcellina is such one of a kind, wear-it-to-the-modern-art-wing-of-your-favorite-museum design.

Wow, thank you. I think that's a perfect way to describe Marcellina! I just LOVE your Reve d'australia, that is fantastic and going on my wish list. I love this colorway, and how cool Hermes did a scarf featuring this style of aboriginal art, I just love this!!

Euridice: your Jardins d'Armenia is gorgeous. I have never seen this shawl but as an Armenian, I must find one. And your double pieces are so bright and beautiful!

Thank you! And, thank you again! I think this is a somewhat classic design sure to be continue to be reissued....there was a stunning yellow version that I saw last summer but it's now sold out. I agree you need to get one of these!!

I am sorry to be behind on comments but I had to stop and take some time to say that Euridice, this is the prettiest combo I think I have ever seen! I had to look twice to see both the ExLenK AND the Lalbhai since they match so beautifully! I think I have two that would look good together so I will try later on this week. You set the bar really high!:smile1:

Wow, thank you, that's totally high praise!! I admit I am kind of proud of my attempt here, and I think I can improve on it. I cannot wait to see your pairing!!

I definitely agree we need a theme week for scarf layering!!

The quickest of fly by's: Sous le Cedre which depicts a mediterranean scene or possibly, either way, a fair way from here.

GORGEOUS! And the scarf is nice, too, lol! Amazing scarf corners!!

Speaking of mousselines - and around the world, wearing Belles du Mexique today for brunch with the ladies.

A Mousseline dream!! I hope the ladies at brunch did not snatch that gorgeous mousse off your neck (I guess that would be a bit extreme way for a lady to behave), I am sure they were secretly tempted!! You look gorgeous.

Tango, Bond7Girl, sparkle, froufrou, iris:heart::ty:

BIenchen - thank you dear for the bd wishes, and you look super in the Sous - love those little mosaics and the golds and pale blue is such a pretty combination. Very Piscean.

Bond7Girl - you were so very lucky to have chance on your side! Reve d'Australia is a stunning silk on you and what a great colorway.

Tango - We are sisters on the Reve de Gloria - mine is the mousseline and is one of my favorites of all my silks! You look so polished and poised! I love Gloria Petyarre's brush strokes - Markova has a beauty too!

Euridice - ELK and Lalbhai - the two are fabulous together!

michel - what a great combination and wondeful background - sigh, Versailles always looks beautiful no matter the time of year.

iris - congrats on starting a new blog - I admire all of you scarfies that have the time for hosting these - and of course, I will visit yours too! Your English is just fine- think you and I need an MP like arabesques though - I cannot get DH to take a still photo for me in any way that is flattering LOL! Your sense of color and style always breathtaking.

So this week is SCARY silk week - unless it has changed to cow madness week. I am amused by how this topic has evolved.

Unfortunately I have few if any silks with scary elements. But to honor of that wonderful creature from Asia that brings H such lovely horns for us to appreciate, new BD Dalva horn pendant with (scary) ravens from Tsubas (around the world-Japan). Oh, and lastly this post also is a nod and hug to arabesques for enabling me on horns and this lovely pendant as well as her penchance for two color silks nowadays! :amuse::giggles:

Catching up from my erratic posting lately, but what a fun week! Thank so much Tango, for working on the theme list. We have a lot to look forward to.

sparklelisab, your Longhorn herd with their adorable calves are the winners this week! 'Animal Kingdom' sounds like a great addition to the list, along with Scarf Layering. Love your new Carpe Diem mousseline, that's a beauty. The bit of blue makes the gold and red even more vivid. Perfect with the orange bracelets. Let's see,,,yes, my hair's a bit shorter as the weather gets hotter and more humid. And Brazil is a fun pattern with all the feathers.

Euridice and Bond7Girl - Thank you both, laughing here and nodding in agreement about 'one can never have to many blue scarves' - my philosophy exactly!

Euridice, your new CSMC is a great colorway. The black Jardins d'Armenie is one of my favorites on you, so bright and cheerful. And the ELenK and Lalbhai combo, that's sublime! You must re-post that if we do a Layered Scarves week - two different sizes and two different textiles. I hope that everyone re-posts the double looks if we do that theme week. :D

Bond7Girl - Many congrats on your new Reve d'Australie! It seems like a very lucky accident that the colors turned out to be so nice. And it looks so lovely on you.

Hi Iris j - Thanks very much, and what gorgeous pictures of your Pays d'Epices! You have a wonderful talent for restrained dressing that shows off the colors in the scarves really nicely.

Looking wonderful, teha, in your brilliant Rendezvous.

Happy hunting, sophieg, hope you find something beautiful, and then share it with us. :graucho:

pussywillow - Jungle Love is glorious on you, congratulations! And the Coupons is quite striking. I've been wondering how it ties in this colorway - blue, blue blue! I'm also a big fan of your double scarf look, the two of them complement each other very well. And last but certainly not least, your pretty pink Jardins. That's one I would have loved to see in person when it came out. sigh...

Hello and welcome, imoline - we all understand you perfectly, please don't fret about that. Love the soft colors in your CenC/La Reale double scarf look. ;)

A last bit of India, the Lalbhai pattern by Michael Duchene which celebrates the Museum of Indology - a priceless repository of manuscripts, books and other reference material covering many aspects of Indian religion, philosphy and language.

Here in four different materials: light blue cotton at the top, green and lavender lightweight silk, blue-gray mousseline and my first cashmere GM in dark blues.

What a beautiful Garden Party, Tango Tosca, in such a classic and luscious color. Congratulations! It's working very nicely with so many of your scarves and outfits. Are you thrilled with it? Love your 'Betty Draper' look and hope to see more of her this season. Not too long to wait now!

Uberclassic indeed, hermesguy, Les Cles is perfect with your striped top. Love that little bit of warm brown showing along the edges.

fritillaryB - It's so nice to see your Per Astra Ad Astra worn and tied a couple of different ways, even though it's stunning laid out flat as well. I've oftem been tempted by this one. The shells in the corner are a nice touch, and love the palm trees. :smile1: The colors of the Brazil pochette are very appealing. And I love how well the flowers show up on your black Quai aux Fleurs.

Wow, VnSoie, what a wonderful look on you with the Etoupe Garden Party and the Eperon d'Or! Many congratulations on your new purchases, they are elegant and practical. :D Six Hermes stores to visit, the mind boggles.!! You might need another bag to carry home the loot...

Maedi, yoiur GM Fleurs sounds wonderful. Perhaps some pictures? It's so useful to see them up close and on an actual person. The H.com pictures could only be less useful if they were in black and white...Nope, I haven't worn a pochette in my hair before but I think I will, as long as it stays put. Thank you! :flowers:

More nice scarf combinations, micheldietlin. Colors, as always, are extraordinary.

Many thanks, Jahna and frou frou - blue is always my first choice.

texasgirliegirl - Thank you. The longer necklace that wraps twice around is the Liao. It has a hook on it, so it can also be used as a bracelet.

You should have a mousseline, Ladybaga! For this season Kelly en Perles is coming in GM they say, with colorways in champagne/turquoise and champagne/coral supposedly included.

Looking great in Sous le Cedre, Bienchen, with wonderful pale colors like the haze of new Spring growth you're seeing at home.

textilegirl - What a super Couvertures, a classic pattern and neutral colorway perfect for a weekend away!

lanit - Thank you, and I 've been eager to see your other birthday gifts. This one's a beauty! You'll get lots of use from this horn pendant and it's perfect with Tsubas. Thanks also for the prettiest water buffalo ever. :D

micheldietlin, you look dashing in your scarf combination, perfect for looking stylish and staying warm on a cloudy day!

Euridice Your pairing here is inspired , sumptuous together .

Thank you so much!

As I sat with my cows today, ruminating about how unfair the world is, I snapped some pictures and hope it is okay that I share my thoughts about the the lack of cow fodder on H silks.

Now we'll all be on the lookout for cows on our scarves! Love the baby cows and that cow in the nativity scene is exquisite. (yes, I know they are calves, but using the word cow really is fun!)

Euridice: Your pink/navy combo makes me clapping my hands! Your cw of CSMC is so elegant and gorgeous! And your ExLenK with Lalbhai is so beautifully tied! Love all the colors in both of silks!

Thank you so much!

Wow, that pic with the epices is the epitome of chic!! And, love that awesome jacket!

DH and I spent a lovely weekend away and this shawl was my constant companion - Couvertures CS GM (ardoise/bourgogne). When I spied this one at my boutique resistance was futile, my supposed Ban notwithstanding (ha, take that you stupid ban!).

A wonderful companion, chic and cosy at the same time! Yeah, way to show that ban who's boss, lol!!
Euridice - ELK and Lalbhai - the two are fabulous together!

Thank you! Love your fabulous horn pendant, and the wonderful way you've tied it into your (pseudo) scary silk!!

Thank you so much! I'll def re-post, and I hope we do the layered scarves theme! I hope to work on my technique a bit in the meantime.

Thank you for sharing your marvelous Lalbhai collection! Fascinating to see the different versions, since I only learned of this with the summer twill. A treat!!

Thank you Pierina and Euridice - LOL a psuedo scary silk is better than none!

Pierina - the four Lalbhais - I did not realize how you have so many of this design! Each so lovely and your composition is very creative too!

Pardon me but a little off-topic here but I desperately need your help.

I have a J'aime Mon Carre and a member here has a very good folding tip so that when worn, the borders show up very well.
Can someone please link me to that post. I've been searching the whole morning!
Thanks in advance.

Oh, by the way, I am lurk faithfully on this thread! Great job everyone!
