I know I haven't commented on all the beauty that I've seen, and I hope I've thanked everyone who commented. Today I traveled from Armenia to India, then on to Japan! I layered CW02 of Ex Libris en Kimono with Lalbhai summer twill in the prune with orange border.

I didn't have time to mess with it this morning, but thought it was okay (first pic). I then kind of knotted things together, 2nd pic, so that it would be a bit more stable. The Lalbhai hangs down for quite a ways. What I intend to do, though, is the weave knot with the Lalbhai and weave some of the ExLenK into it from below.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Euridice Your pairing here is inspired , sumptuous together .

Yikes, you don't have to do that fritiallaryB! The90cm appears on ebay from time to time. I had it but always ended up using the gavroche. In the 90 size note that there are figures all around the border in addition to the 4 elephants on the gavroche.

Here's the gavroche, and the 90 cm below:

Brazil and FI in turquoise , just glorious . I can only admire from afar . That colour makes me think of Greece [ I know it's Brazil and India, but all the same...], and with Sous le Cedre I'm tasting that Retzina ...

I was in Knightsbridge Hermes yesterday, and saw THE most beautiful scarf on a very lovely oriental SA .
It was a red/crimson Aloha[ I had to ask] and it took my breath away .

A request for a viewing from any of you who may own it , please !

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to lanit, sounds like you had a great day!

I shall try to catch up individually later, TPF quirks permitting.

The quickest of fly by's: Sous le Cedre which depicts a mediterranean scene or possibly, either way, a fair way from here.

Bienchen, I LOVE the corners on your scarf! The mosaic tiles look so real. I also love the blues/browns/and light yellows. Very very nice!

Our lovely Pierina2 posted the image of the underacknowledged "cow" that is in the middle bottom of her big ole Turkey scarf. Of course we all know that the majestic stallion, the horse, is Hermes' inspiration for its billion dollar business, but I have a beef with that! The glorious cow gives his life, his skin, his hide for Tango and Bienchen's new GP, Pierina2's gorgeous Lagoon Birkin, Ladybaga's new gold Birkin, Lanit's picotin...and they get very little scarf time. A big ole turkey, even a bunch of snails have an entire scarf dedicated to them, yet cattle seem absent on silk.

Even the alterpiece in the Sassetti Chapel in Santa Trinita's featuring, Ghirlandaio's Nativity, The Adoration of the Shepherds pays homage to not just Mother Mary, and Baby Jesus, but look who is front and center--a long horned "cow."

As I sat with my cows today, ruminating about how unfair the world is, I snapped some pictures and hope it is okay that I share my thoughts about the the lack of cow fodder on H silks.

sparklelisab, that ain't no longhorn in that last pic (although it would be hysterical if it were. I spent a lot of my youth herding horses and cattle-pretty great youth, I think.

Michel, I think you are a master at leading us off on 2-scarf week. I am going to give it a whirl.

Froufrou, I have an Aloha, but not red/crimson-a lovely brown though! Here's a link to HSCI; is this it?

Jahna Yes that's the one, although IRL so so much better than this .Which is why I'd love to see more of that particular red. The background seemed much lighter , ivory rather than fawn.

Sparkleslisab, you are a woman after my own heart  I'm going to call you The Cow Whisperer from now on. This post just delighted me and I had to share it with friends who were over for dinner last night, and they were charmed by it too. I have laughed and laughed over this.

Anytime you want to cowgirl up, you just hop on a plane my friend, and remember to quote Davy Crockett when you do, "You may all go to H***, and I will go to Texas." :D

Ask and ye shall receive, Sparkles. Look what I just noticed on a Vie Du Fleuve? Your missing cows! Judging from the humps on their backs I'd call them Brahman cattle. They're typically gray, although occasionally red. I made a point of finding a picture of a spotted one, however, since it seemed to match the scarf better. It almost looks like Aline Honoré put antelope horns on them though!

Hmmm. Isn't that what cows do? Ruminate? This from:
http://strausfamilycreamery.com/?id=57

How a Cow Eats

A cow is a "ruminant" animal, which means it is an "even-toed hoofed animal with 3 or 4 stomachs".
Yup, a cow has 4 stomachs!
Here is how it works. A cow only has teeth on her bottom jaw. The top of her jaw is a hard pad. Together they are perfect for grazing. The cow takes a mouthful of grass, then grinds it back and forth between her bottom teeth and her top jaw until she forms a ball of half ground-up feed which she surrounds with saliva (so it can slide down easily). That ball is called a "bolus" and is swallowed where it makes its way into the cow's "rumen", her first stomach.
In the rumen the half chewed grass and/or grains and hay are softened by stomach juices. Then it moves to the second stomach, the reticulum, where the food is softened further into small wads called cuds. Each cud is then regurgitated, where the cow chews it again 40-60 times. That's what they're talking about when they say a cow is "chewing its cud".
And that's why you see cows lying in the field chewing and chewing when they don't seem to be eating anything.
After all this chewing, the food is swallowed a final time and passes through the other two stomachs, the omasum and abomasum. A cow's food provides nutrients to keep it healthy and to produce milk. A cow's waste, after drying and composting, becomes wonderful fertilizer for our fields!

The only way I can tie this into scaves is "Plaza del Toros" which I love as a design but cannot buy as I object to bullfighting: (photo from HSCI)
