What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

Although I have never said it out loud, I have been inferred by a few people as a touch hater here over the years.

I have been trying to bite my tongue on that subject . Why do you have to out me?

UO: For the love of God, touch bags seem to me that they were made of leftover parts from botched bags by new apprentices.

I am running for cover now.
I know right. The other time when I commented that I see so many frankenstein SO bags, I got 🔥🔥🔥 by some people here.

It turns out that although my Kellys have shoulder straps, I quite like to carry them in my hand (probably part of the reason I prefer the H ‘tote’ 😉). However, newer Kellys with the D rings look a little silly without the strap attached…as if they have antennae or ears next to the handle.
UO: I prefer the look of my vintage Kelly without the D rings even though I know the D rings supposedly help the bag retain its structure (or something like that)…I prefer form over function.

Or maybe the SA removes the stickers similar to how they remove the tag that has the QR code on the box. I’ll run for cover now. Haha
Absolutely!

UO: after payment, before leaving the boutique, consumers should be “invited” to take all stickers off their new bags… only after that they should be packed and allowed to leave the boutique.

… I love this thread so much. Lol

That is a UO … search cover!!!
ive seen reseller’s not disclosing a for sale bag’s leather type on instagram stories if the bag is epsom. They would just advertise the color, size, hardware. This is bait to anyone not familiar with Hermes leathers and end up buying the bag.

That’s my observation. That wont necessarily deter me from buying it though. Let’s just say epsom is not my favorite leather but i would still buy it. The only leather i would never buy for how ugly it is is ombre lizard.
I cannot buy lizard because DH caught a lizard in the basement. He was carrying it out the door to release it into our open space and said that its belly reminded him of ombré lizard H. He freaks out when he sees my faux python belts if they are on the closet floor and says absolutely no reptile from any luxury house. I finally convinced him that Croc is acceptable after we got him a nice croc belt that he loves. Maybe I can get the B touch that I have been hoping for on my wish list 🧡

Your use of the word tag brought out a new idea for me …

If here’s was truly searching to limiting resale… they could put a « tag » in between two layers of leather to track there bags … for security reasons obviously 🙄 😜

Ok big brother would be watching us. lol.

These have been said before I know… but needed to vent this morning.

I know Hermès is not the only compagny to do this but… what is the meaning of showing a collection to decide to NOT produce pieces from the said collection… not one or two but many pieces or just not produced.

Second UO, why do they show a belt during the Men RTW collection for at least 4 shows and don’t bother to produce the said belt 4 seasons in a row?! If you care to display it in 4 shows… perhaps you could at least produce it even in small quantities…

Third UO: when not producing something … perhaps tell your employees so that in there turn they can tell your consumers not to expect or hope for pieces.

That felt good.

I agree with all your UO opinions as it applies to Women's RTW too and its frustrating! Specially when Hermes showcases exquisite and very wearable clothing on the runway....I am more understanding of other brands which clothing is meant for artistic expression rather than production.

To add to this same line of UO:
Hermes should allow clients to order specific items from the runway even if it incurs a premium charge - similar to their shoe SO offering.

This is not unheard of...Prada can produce upon request and corporate approval any item seen on the runway RP+20% charge for "stopping regular production" as my SA mentioned. I have personally not tried this as the item I was searching for was stocked a few months later...but technically possible.

When I asked my London SA for a pair of runway boots that where shown in 2 shows and not produced, she said Hermes would benefit from Prada's approach as they have so many request for runway pieces which they are not able to fulfill.

The scarves styled as tops look more tacky than chic on most people. (Btw this comment was not inspired by anyone’s post, but more so from my own failed styling attempts)
I know someone who does it, but she's tall and extremely thin. She looks chic. Even in my "thin" days in my 20's I could never get away with it. Particularly since I was never able to go braless.

Will share this thought with you @addiCCted , scarves styled as tops can be a but tricky, but if
you have a good SA & ask to be shown how to style the scarf, it can be accomplished easier said
than done. There is always one SA that has that special knack of knowing how to drape a scarf/shawl
& they do look great under a jacket, JMO

Yes under a jacket is nice. But as a top by itself, I haven’t seen a good real life example of. It’s one thing for it to look good for a pose but another moving around in 3D

Suggest if you want to "wear" it as a top by itself, an SA will show you how you can easily move around
in it. My SA at Madison was very accommodating in sharing her tips. I wear one very often in summer
especially going out in the evening, as it is cool & comfortable & I do wear the cashmere/silk combo,JMO
