The scarves styled as tops look more tacky than chic on most people. (Btw this comment was not inspired by anyone’s post, but more so from my own failed styling attempts)

The last time I tried to style a scarf as a top was some time in the last century and I was never confident enough to wear it out of the house.

For me, as a top, it has to be done with 2 90s or a 140cm. I think it can look really beautiful, and with enough fabric and the right undergarment is very comfortable. :flowers:

UO: if you attempt a scarf top;

1. You have to be at a comfortable weight (something that really only happens for me once a decade or so.

2. You have to wear a tank or white shirt underneath; a jacket or cardigan over; and possibly affix the scarf to something around the neck to minimize any accidental exposure or risk choking

3. But, a scarf as a top is not as hard to pull off as a scarf wrapped around one’s head, covering one’s hair, like an old time grand mother lol

IMO :)

Agree with all of this. I've worn one of the silk jersey scarves as a halter to a picnic, with high-waist pants and a tube bralet underneath in a color complimentary to the scarf.

Ok..here we go.
I don't understand people going on holiday somewhere and focussing a chunk of their trip on visiting Hermes Stores and trying to get a bag.
I may be in the minority but when I visit a city I put galleries, architecture, food, culture at the top of my to do list..I love to shop but going to a Hermes store anywhere would not be a priority.

I agree to a certain extent to this.

Exceptions for me:

Visiting FSH at least once.
Visiting a Hermès shop which is on my way to a galery, a museum, a building and so on… and just dropping buy…

💯 .....specifically Paris has so much to offer.. I'd rather be sitting somewhere & having a fabulous
lunch then standing at the leather desk, JMO

Agree 100%. Genuinely baffled by the amount of time people spend haunting the Hermes stores abroad in hopes of a bag. You’re on holiday in a new place- explore!

As someone who does it I will explain. The stores are usually in an area I will be visiting anyway. They have air conditioning and nice bathrooms (huge perk in most cities for a tourist 😂)
A lot of what they sell is art in a way
It makes vacation fun
Sometimes checking things off a tourist list (saw this, ate that) makes a vacation feel like a chore. Shopping breaks it up
If I end up buying something, it always brings me back in o that vacations when I use/wear it
Of course there is a limit to how much time I spend at the store.
Interestingly, I would not go to FSH. I don’t have a relationship there and I refuse to stand in line

My current uo:

For some reason I feel like the rtw price increase is ridiculous for what the items are. I don’t know why I’m noticing it more this year and it’s making me very cranky. For the first time in a long time at Hermes I’m looking at items and thinking “this just isn’t worth that in any way.”
I fully agree with your uo! Perhaps not so unpopular 😏

To some extend and in my opinion, their RTW prices for men (I don’t remind myself looking at the woman prices) where largely underpriced in the past versus the quality and other luxury brands. Now we agree they have leveled up with some pretty high ones. The FW25/26 prices are more or less the same.
But I remember 2 years ago, telling my SA how competitively priced there RTW was. My S.A. told me it wouldn’t last much longer … and here we are.

To some extent if we do a pricing vs other brands comparaisons… you will see more attention to the sourcing of the fabric with more noble materials versus less creativity.

Again in my opinion.

UO: your never truly surprised with a runway presentation of Hermès, before or after JPG collections.
UO: bring back a crazy creative director to put in some energy and fantasy.

Worse are the people who do it repeatedly like 1-2 times a year but multiple years in a row. Is there really nothing else interesting about the city you spend most of your time trying for offers. It’s very sad and desperate.

But that's not ALL they're doing. Visiting a store may take minutes out of a day so it's not like people aren't doing other things. I generally go to Paris twice a year for the last 10 years and always visit FSH multiple times on a weeklong visit just to browse. It doesn't mean I'm not enjoying all that Paris has to offer.

I don’t really mind people going taking their time out to shop the stores in hopes to get a bag. I will say, shopping and eating is my primary activity when I’m on vacation so going to the stores is therapeutic and fun, but that’s mostly because it’s escape for me as I’m generally a homebody and don’t really shop at home.

That being said - I think that’s a really valid unpopular opinion but if I had to modify it, it’d be:

UO: People who let their attempts at getting an handbag DEFINE their vacation/trip. That is, people who get upset/disgruntled by the lack of bag offers or service while shopping at Hermes on vacation. Take the hit and move on with your vacation!

The last time that I did not gross myself out in the mirror doing that was almost two decades ago. My sister and I used to like to wear it that way when we were young and skinny. No more.

So guess what? I tried a CSGM. I was so traumatized by it.

My UO: We should start a thread on H RTW and scarf epic failure attempts. ;)
