UO: in countries that require prespend, unless you genuinely want to own and keep all of your prespend items, then prespend above 1.5:1 is a total waste of money and an unwise financial decision because you can get a new bag in the exact specs you want in the secondary market for a total price that includes the equivalent of a 1:1 prespend (give or take).

But if you can get the exact bag you want from the boutique for 1.5:1 or less in prespend then it’s still a lovely experience and worth it. Any higher of a prespend ratio than that and it becomes more financially beneficial to buy from the secondary market instead of sinking $20-$60K into other items just to be offered a bag.

So far, 43% my H bag collection was acquired from H boutiques with about a 1:1 prespend and 57% of my H bag collection was acquired new on the secondary market for a total price encompassing the equivalent of a 1.5:1 prespend or less. I notice a lot of SAs will milk you as much as you let them to maximize commissions before offering a bag and it feels exploitative and I want no part of it. I only buy items I truly love from the boutique and refuse to buy more than what I want or need as a prerequisite to acquiring the bags I want. This requires a lot of patience with the boutique route and also acquiring some bags on the secondary market if wanting to build a collection at a pace faster than what the boutique offers. Bags and other pretty items are nice but so is maximizing savings and financial investments for future financial health. I do enjoy and buy other H items besides just bags but there are only so many other items I need before it feels like wasteful obligatory spending for the sake of getting a next bag, which I can get without wasting as much money at the boutique.

Basically — what’s nicer than having bags is having those exact same bags with more money leftover in my pocket.
I totally agree with you. After buying for a few years and buying a lot these past two years, these days I am happier with resale. If you buy second hand in great/excellent condition from a few years back, you can find a B25 at 1.5 for example.

I figured out nowadays it will take me a long time, even if a spend a lot, to get to the level of being offered the very coveted blue boxes, as Faubourg for example, since I travel a lot and buy from different stores. Nowadays it is difficult to get the leather bags in store, let alone what I want.

I feel the same way.

My SA has moved on and last years wish expired. Now I need to restart the whole wish nonsense again. I have spent more than 1:1 and it’s frustrating as there are 2 colours I want B25 Orange or black.

I have spent more than the 1:1 prespend and if I spend more in store the final bag will be more expensive from the store than if I had purchased directly from a reseller.

Once I receive a bag I doubt I will spend much more in store. I’m too old to play games (45), too annoyed that influencers and resellers are favoured more than the loyal customers who keep every single item purchased from store and UNPOPULAR OPINION - I am veering back towards Chanel after all these years.

Chanel clothing is more my style than Hermes. Chanel SA’s (my opinion) have more loyalty than Hermes London SA’s - they can at least get the “bag” you desire, rather than it being a decision made by someone who works in the back office who has a computerised list! Which is BS as I recall Amir Khan purchasing an orange K20 a few months ago for his wife from the London CP store when they live in Dubai - so CP dont give loyalty to local clientele at all. It’s based on influence.

Back to original post - I also believe it is becoming cheaper to purchase from a reseller than store when considering the overall spend to get a wish bag.

Unpopular Opinion

The Hermes Spa is overrated and I would never recommend anyone to waste there money using it.

I sent 2 bags that had colour transfer , 1 x Epsom, 1 x swift and neither bag was restored and can still see the colour transfer.

This cost me over £750 and it’s shown me that the Hermes Spa can’t do much except change hardware.

Since that incident, I would never buy a pastel bag again.

My beige Chanel which is over 10 years old has no colour transfer and looks brand new and is used more than Hermes bag.

There was a dog collar on h.com I would have bought for myself. t was more like £1000s not £100s. Makes me want to buy a dog too

I tried this, and I do not recommend it. Dog collars

I actually tried on a similar dog collar to this, that looked more like a choker. It is very uncomfortable, difficult to get out of, and since the neck can swell, I wouldn’t recommend this for any human.

It is also very stiff for a dog. My dog had everything from Hermes except for the collars/leashes. Maybe for a bigger dog it would be ok, but definitely not for the small ones.

That is why you should shop régularly for pièces you like And Not to build a prespend.
That way you buy pieces you like. That way your happy for what you spend your money on.
When your bag offer comes, you will just be happy to havé all your special pieces AND a bag for thé same price than reseller route… i don’t Know if i am clear…

To stay on toppic :

UO: People tend to see prespend as a door to thé bags… Where as someone said it here before, it is JUST a means to see if you are competitive in your store … And to see if your SA will think of you when a bag with your specs bag comes in. (Other ways is a speacial connexion with your SA, having thé sam intrested or fashion style than your SA, ETC…) at the end of thé day they have to décide to who one bag goes outre of thé 100 or 1000 That havé expressed there desire for this kind of bag.

UO: why are most toppics lately gone moré And moré towards whinning for another bag instead of just being happy to havé already so Many fantastic pieces …

Sorry thèse opinions are Not directes to anyone in particular… but gosh.

This way Nice to be able to say…

UO- I find the RTW to be way overpriced. $10k for a leather jacket?! Is the quality and design really that much better than one that’s 1/4 the price? 5k for a silk twillaine cardi? It’s just gotten so out of hand. I know these pieces are forever etc but at some point it just feels ridiculous.
You can get everything significantly reduced fresh out of the store in Internet groups. Once I made a post asking for RTW on my size and I immediately received messages from two resellers offering to buy RTW and jewelry from 50-70 percent off depending on the piece.

That fabulous Ebene jacket with the brown leather details was being offered brand new for $2,600, while it was 6500 euros in Europe. I don’t know how much it was in the U.S., but there are huge savings in buying resale from people that want to meet their prespend and don’t know what else to buy.

Hence my decision to buy more bags and other products on the secondary market.

If you need to buy 3 of the standard bracelets with diamonds for $20k each for a MK Picnic for example, and if she is $20k in store - $80k total. You can buy the same 3 bracelets on resale for around $7k each, $21k. You can buy the new MK Picnic for $50-60k. It is practically the same. The numbers are an estimate.

Of course buying resale does not help with “building a relationship,” but time is more precious to me at least. Just the time saved by focusing more on the resale route is worth it for me.

I understand the economic reasoning And was totally unaware of thé heavy discounted pieces on facebook groups.
But, at least for me, i enjoy my Time spend in the boutique, trying Some pieces, exchanging ideas for the New season… getting suprised by pieces i didn’t think of… trying pieces i will never ever buy (My SA Knows it) just for the pleasure of trying something New ( i think of a pieces of high jewlery who was send to my boutique And my SA said, do you wanna try something totally out of your budget And comfort just for fun) And all thèse moments… i don’t see it as Time lost… but Time well spend on Some guilty pleasures… but perhaps that is very simple of me …

UO : i like to spend Time in the boutique with my SA.

I too feel it's very true ,on the UK website there are hardly any bags at all ,most of the time just few straps ,when the bags are released every time I put in my basket it says blocked and there is a robot on the IP address ,so my hubby decided to put on his computer and it was the same .Its so disappointing ,that resellers and bots manage to buy them as you can see so many resellers and consignment stores with new bags .In stores forget it ,they never have bags .In times like these feel like going back to Chanel

I’m a big RTW fan but am starting to feel this way, especially when comparing H RTW prices to Brunello, Dior, Loro (though this may be because I like the styles of these brands better).

I’m less interested in H RTW after seeing them make up the majority of the unsold inventory dumped at the annual private sale 😂

I actually loved the RTW discount at the sale 😅😅

It is funny because I told my SA in Europe - “you don’t have my size of this dress, maybe I will find it on the private sale in NY.” I also found three other coats and another dress I was eyeing. If one is not looking for specific pieces, the RTW sale selection is amazing.

I totally understand you, and when I was younger I loved going to stores, trying lots of pieces and spending time with the SAs. I would spend hours at Hermes, Chanel, Dolce, LV etc. I travel a lot, so nowadays I prefer spending time browsing online to find what I like.

Maybe after I lose weight I will like more going to stores, but when that happens I will be going to McQueen, Valentino, Dior and Dolce, VB for dresses.😅

This is very off topic, but if anyone goes to Venezia, I recommend asking to visit the Dolce museum in the store. It is closed to the general public, but you can see these hand painted dresses, some going for 300.000 euros. They are spectacular, true art.

The prices have significantly risen. I’ve purchased RTW over the years but I feel that nothing new has been introduced for a long time. It’s the same same but in different colourways. I’ve spent over 10 years purchasing Hermes it’s now time to move elsewhere because there’s nothing further I desire.

Exactly! I find it all very underwhelming considering the price points. Especially compared to Dior which makes some of the most beautifully tailored clothing, IMO.

I don’t at all think it is simply you, that sounds like an absolutely lovely experience but I think not everyone is lucky enough to have that kind of relationship with their SA. So, it isn’t really an either / or situation.

Many people report having a relationship with their SA that is, unfortunately, based entirely on short visits where they want their client to know exactly what they wish to purchase when they come in, they encourage simple spending over getting to know the preferences of the client and suggesting accordingly and there is limited interaction or browsing. I think t’s understandable why someone might become disillusioned in that type of situation.

Lol, I guess this is my unpopular opinion. :)

I feel the same regarding men’s RTW after purchasing wonderful pieces for over 20 years. The looks more recently vary little from year to year, yet the prices have risen astronomically. I like the look of Hermès men’s RTW, but I have to venture elsewhere if I want something more creative.
